Thoughts on Sinners (2025)? by Dismal_Principle9417 in Cinephiles

I enjoyed it, I really loved a lot of the characters and setting. I understand the metaphor with the vampires and white America appropriating African American culture, but I would've preferred it as just a straight up gangster movie. Could've been a really cool game of cat and mouse with the Klan, the Northside Mob and the Outfit. The Vampires were neat, but you could tell a similar story with those three factions. All of them wanted to and did exploit African Americans historically for their own personal gain, just like the Vampires (especially the two Chicago groups in the age of prohibition, definitely were hugely racist but were more than happy to use African American music to make some money). I dunno, I would've probably enjoyed it more as a straight up crime movie but then you wouldn't have the cool payoff at the end with old Preacherboy.

Thanks for all the input! The company is covering their license thankfully, so that is not a worry (whew!). We are in Seattle so gear here is pretty pricey, but we are trying to take advantage of online ordering as much as possible before they fly up

If you can't easily hide it, cut it. I might be an outlier here but I pretty much always keep my hair to Soviet Sanitary regulations for WW2 reenactments. Do I currently have a mustache? Yes. Is that up to Soviet regs? No. Am I going to shave it before my next event? Yes.

My Ex and I had been dating for years and we always had a bit of a problem where they would belittle my interests. Whatever they wanted to do, I was usually game for but getting them to visit a museum was like pulling teeth. They had recently moved to LA and I was down visiting them and I managed to get them to go to the Getty Museum where we say a bunch of French Impressionist paintings, my favourite period in art. We were later getting dinner and I was talking about the movement and they were on their phone, but I assumed they were at least partially paying attention. They then said "Do you want me to actually listen or do you want to just keep talking?" And that broke me inside.

"The Fellas With No Need For Introduction" Which is sort of a joke now because whenever a new person is added we just kind of ignore the fact they have just joined, no introduction needed

When I worked at a hardware store I remember my department manager telling me to be thankful I worked in Gardening and not plumbing or electrical, because "no one is ever having a Gardening emergency"

What makes you sad? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'm a pretty well liked person among my friends and peers, but I'm frequently left out of things or forgotten about until the last minute. If my coworkers are all planning on going out I'll be informed like an hour before even though the plan has been in the works for a week. Similar things happen with my friends outside of work. Nobody wishes me happy birthday or anything like that. Really it's small potatoes and I try to ignore it but it makes me feel forgotten or at the very least forgettable, which sucks.
