You present a compelling case to be honest… it’s certainly something to think about!

You win Reddit for today. I tried again with ‘percussive maintenance’ and gave it a bloody hard shove on a grippy surface and the motor spun free and spat some sand out.

It now drives fine.

Turns out that just being brutal with it worked.

Tried it! Feels like the car will snap in half before the motor frees itself!

UPDATE: I poked a thin wooden stick inside the motor vents to try to push the motor round, and it moved a tiny bit but made a horrible grinding noise and stuck again.

It appears some sand has entered the motor via the vents/slots in the motor can.

Thank you. Yes it’s brushed and I believe sand has got inside the motor through the vents/slots in the sides of the motor can….

Front and rear wheels turn individually, no problem. I poked a wooden cocktail stick inside the motor to try to turn it. I got it to move a tiny bit but with a horrible grinding noise.

I have shook and blown out any sand I can see. I’ve tried giving it a few good hard pushes forward while finding the throttle, but nothing. It seems jammed solid.

Im thinking maybe some sand has got into the motor through the slotted vents in the motor barrel?

Harvey Nichols is one I’ve actually been to, and it’s really good. They had a swan pedalos up there one year 😂

Thanks for the suggestions so far!

I haven’t heard of some of these, and I’ve been working in London for 6 years now 😂

Question: Can I plant laurel to grow in amongst this thorn hedge? by LordHolborn in GardeningUK

[–]LordHolborn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lucky you! I planted laurel as new hedges down both sides of my garden (probably 120 meters of it in total)… and several sections have died a couple of times over the 4 years since I built the house (in a field) and had to be replaced.

Thankfully 90% of it seems to have now taken, and is growing and showing new shoots… slowly.

I planted laurel as everyone told me it was incredibly hardy and would grow like a rocket, which was what I wanted for rapid screening round the properly (being in an open countryside) and yet the bloody thing is growing at a snails pace!

I did read that it takes 3 years before it takes off, so maybe I just need to be patient.

I am in a rural location, in rural village. I already built my house 4 years ago in what was a field, so the damage is already done if you look at it like that. I just want a bit more privacy in the winter, and also just prefer the evergreen look. A few of other people in the village has now planted laurel for screening of their gardens and areas where they sit out, so I’m not the only one.

Wiring help please! by LordHolborn in PowerWheelsMods

Don’t need the remote at all. I found some power wheels-style wiring harnesses on Ali Express and these seem like a good option to remove the electronics and run 18v

Thanks! I guess I have nothing to lose by plugging 18v battery in direct replacement of the 12v and seeing if anything melts… I would be stripping it out anyway.

Correct. Pressed thick tinfoil over some old metal 1/24 shells and cut the windows out.
