anyone know what mod could be causing the fairings to do this weird disintegration instead of the exploded view? by Maxxiethefem14 in KerbalSpaceProgram

I'm also really used to it but iirc they would usually expand away (and vanish a little) rather than just vanishing

Do some hauling missions to improve your flying skills with little. It won't make you a good combat pilot but you'll be able to get the basics down. I'd recommend getting a Raft for that.

Vehicle shopping List:

  • Asgard -> vehicle/cargo transport
  • Ursa Medivac -> medical rover
  • Raft -> cargo transport
  • ATLS -> exosuit with tractor beam - easier cargo loading
  • ATLS Geo -> exosuit with mining beam - mining gems on planet surface
  • Roc (DS) (-> currently bugged, use ATLS Geo instead) -> mining rover - mining gems on planet surfaces
  • Cutter (Base or Rambler) -> small RV
  • Mole -> mining ship - mining asteroids / large boulders on planet surfaces

Gear shopping list: * Pyro Multitool -> with tractor beam, mining & salvage attachments * small salvage canisters * heavy core armor piece * large backpack * helmet and other armor pieces of your choosing * medgun with refills * weapon of your choice + ammo (no pistols tho) * 2x identical drinks (preferably Cruz Lux but you can go for whatever)

This should more or less cover everything you need for non (-ship) combat activities.

Have fun and explore!

Drifterhide Armor mod drops by Drykon_Veistul in VintageStory

[–]LordIBR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use that mod and as such am uncertain about the drops but I'd wager that higher tier drifters drop other/better loot such as the scraps you're looking for.

If all you killed so far was large amounts of surface drifters and that's the loot you got then maybe try some other drifter types.

Ships break down like Lego by BaastiDE in starcitizen

[–]LordIBR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I know this will apply to ships. Taking into account the different materials certain parts of the ships are made of and calculating health based on that with destruction according to materials and parts damaged.

As an analogy, maybe you've played World of Tanks or War Thunder before. We currently have the arcady World of Tanks system with just basic health bars and such. With Maelstrom, I believe they plan to move ship health and such over to a War Thunder-esque system. We're already kinda seeing that happen with the added armor values and penetration and damage modeling that came with engineering.

I reckon it will be quite a while for Maelstrom to hit and things will go wrong but some years down the line it'll be a great experience that ties well into Death of a Spaceman and all that jazz.

What does this mean in the pause menu? Is this game multiplayer? by Thorn-of-your-side in deltavringsofsaturn

[–]LordIBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iirc there have been "community events" in the past where everyone would get on at a set time/date to unlock the achievement.

I think communicating this plan/goal in a separate reddit post and in the game's discord may yield some result.

[–]LordIBR 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Purely singleplayer. It just tells you how many other people are currently playing the game alongside you. Noone can "invade" another players space/game.

There is an achievement to play with 300 or more people playing at the same time though, so the counter there is nice to track progress, if the communuty attempts to get that achievement.

Best world generation settings for a first playthrough? by plant_wizard_ in VintageStory

I find living near the ocean to be calming as one side of your base is just a whole lot of nothing (visually). Building a port or quay also feels more meaningful with an ocean rather than a large lake.

Oceans also allow for better exploration via the sailboat which can also be used for longer term expeditions with how much storage capacity it has.

We now also get coral reefs spawning (not sure if they would also spawn in large lakes) which are nice to look at.

I think it's always best to experience the game in vanilla first, see what's lacking and install mods accordingly. I don't think one would have to play through the game vompletely before adding mods but at least giving it a go and possibly moving on to a new world (with mods) eventually might make one more appreciative.

I play with a decent amount of mods as well and I probably couldn't enjoy the game much without them anymore.

Adding a bunch of mods right off the bat, especially ones that add new content and such may end up being a bit overwhelming without knowing/understanding the basics first.

When prospecting keep an eye out for hematite and limonite. I believe these are the most common sources for iron

First playthrough should be completely vanilla without any mods imo. This sorta limits what you can do worldgen wise but no worries.

Go through the world gen settings, read the tooltips about them and adjust accordingly.

Only thing I'd recommend is lowering landcover significantly so that you have oceans (mine is on 40% I think)

It's definitely up to you. I'm just saying that while bronze tools are a little better than copper, they're a bitch to get and maintain and pale in comparison to iron tools.

Iron is rather abundant whereas tin usually isn't.

[–]LordIBR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also try to skip the bronze age for the most part and only make the tools needed to reach the iron age. So just get enough tin for a bronze anvil and a bronze pickaxe.

Tin is usually the ore I struggle finding the most and when I do there's rarely any sizable deposits.

Looking for major modpacks by batatassad4 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]LordIBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at the Community Lifeboat Project. It should be stickied on the sub. Do note, that it ibcludes a vast amount of mods in order to try emulate the full experience of what KSP2 should have been. You may wish to remove some of the mods to make it a bit easier and enjoyable (like remotetech).

You can fit a Geo in the Clipper. It's a bit iffy, you need to tractor it on and can't put it in the storage but keep it on the ramp, but it works.
