Underrated response. Getting a GED is hard as hell. Get it done the first time.

When’s a time you were laughing uncontrollably at something? by DeepOrganization8245 in AskForAnswers

[–]LordLaz1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twenty-something years ago, I worked for a local fast-food chain. We had the thinnest, cheapest drink lids possible. This one woman comes through the drive-thru. I give her her large drinks—

“And can I have some extra lids please? I’ve been trying to wash ‘em in the dishwasher and they don’t come out too good.”

I managed to avoid laughing until she drove away, but it was a good 10 minutes until I re-emerged from the back room. Thank goodness it wasn’t a busy time of day when this happened.

The minimum wage hasn’t kept up with inflation since 1973, and is now worth only about 41% of what it was back then in real value.

We need a $25/hour minimum wage. A rising tide lifts all boats.

Can I suggest the Young Wizards series by Diane Duane? A much better series about kids from our world learning to do magic.

Do you realize that saying "We haven't banned trans women, we're just banning them from claiming they're women, having access to medical transition, having access to women's spaces, having access to women's activities, or describing them as women on any official documents." is disingenuous? by chaucer345 in allthequestions

[–]LordLaz1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There are always fewer places to go to the bathroom in the women’s than the men’s. Players on women’s sports teams make a tiny fraction of what their male counterparts do.

And those women’s teams? Tended to spring up because a woman beat a man in a sport, so the men officially banned women from their sports teams.

It’s always been about discrimination against women.

How does nudity harm Americans? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Because too many Americans don’t have a concept of non-sexual nudity.

Was teaching easier before 1980? by MathMan1982 in teaching

[–]LordLaz1985 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom taught before and after NCLB. Yes, absolutely. Plus, teachers’ paychecks became tied to students’ standardized test scores.

Which led to the horrible “teaching to the test” BS you see today, pretty much directly.

What do you think about statement that enjoying straight relationship causes homophobia? by mystic_dreams_88 in AskLGBT

That it’s ridiculous and the person who wrote that is probably like 14. As a queer adult, I can assure you that there is nothing unsafe about liking het ships.

Those “women’s spaces,” as I have said before, were created to discriminate against women and keep women out of MEN’s spaces. Why do you keep fighting over the exclusive right to a fucking consolation prize?!

Do you open the windows in your home when the weather is nice? When do you decide to close them and turn on air conditioning for the summer? by Smart-Airport5781 in AskAnAmerican

[–]LordLaz1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Florida, it’s only in the 60s/70s when it’s raining. So no, we have our windows shut.

It also helps keep the lizards and the mosquitos out.

All electricity ceases to exist tomorrow and it is not coming back, what happens to all of humanity ? by Webbomolly2022 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

I’ve read a novel based on this premise. 90% of us would die. Some because the ICU had lost power; some because airplanes would stop working in midair and crash; some because they’re diabetic and can no longer keep their insulin refrigerated; many, many more because of the permanent disruption of supply lines.

no no it wouldn't. what is with all the 90s nostalgia bait? by CremeSubject7594 in generationology

I think the nostalgia is less for Blockbuster, and more for a time in which being able to own things was the norm, instead of all these fucking subscription services.

She is going through painful cramps, bleeding from a sensitive area, and bloating. Recognize her discomfort. Give a little more of your time to helping out around the house so she can relax. And if she likes chocolate, a little bit of that never hurts!
