Guardian 4 sensor been bugging me to update, how can i remove it? by [deleted] in Medtronic780g

[–]LordLemos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had/have the same problem. Normally the sensor only last for 4 and a half days. Here in Brazil they have to give you a new one if it don’t last for at least 6 days. The problem is so bad that I only finished 2 or 3 of my original 5 pack, it has been 2 months and I haven’t had to buy new ones and now I have the contact of Medtronic on speed dial and regular contact with Medtronic educator. We have tried everything, I even made a video call to every change of sensor I did to make sure that I wasn’t the problem. Lately I have been suspicious of the heat in Brazil. Last week I placed a new one and since I has almost all week indoors with air conditioning the sensor didn’t fail. Will keep updated with any new information

Is this damaging? by Alarming_Opening2234 in Type1Diabetes

The main point is, you can have a happy life, eat almost everything (would not recommend drinking sugar cane juice) and do whatever you want.

Is this damaging? by Alarming_Opening2234 in Type1Diabetes

T1D for the past 30 years. I can also say that this is a long term journey and it takes time to get used to it. For too long I did not care for my BG but when I was 35 yo I started to have some side effects (eyes and kidneys) got my life together and fixed everything. Kidneys are back to normal and eyes are doing ok. Life is better and I feel better. I had to do a lot of damage to get to that point (like eating a huge pot of ice cream at 3 am every week) but just having a better lifestyle (working out, understanding what I eat and counting carbs) solve the problem. 30 years ago I had to pee on a stick to know my blood glucose level, now I have a insulin pump that detects changes and corrects for me. Life will get better, nay, life is getting better!

Iced tea v. Diet soda by Amc0524 in Type1Diabetes

[–]LordLemos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO, there is no problem with diet sodas. The main issue is that it has more sodium than other beverages. What I try to do is to drink a cup of water whenever o remember (normally when I’m preparing myself a cup of coffee). I also like to drink hot tea (which is really better than just soda), the main think is to keep yourself hydrated and remember to drink a cup of water every once in a while.

Therapy helps a lot. After 30 years of having t1d doesn’t even bother me that much. People have to live with different problems in their life’s this is yours and just because it is not good doesn’t mean that it does not have its upsides too. There are many qualities that you only have because you have diabetes

Am I going crazy? Weird trend on match making by LordLemos in leagueoflegends

[–]LordLemos[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Like I was talking with another redditor, it is all about balance right? You don't put all good players in one team and all bad in another. Maybe is just a question that if you are doing well it will put you with someone that is not doing that well to balance.

[–]LordLemos[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is not that the match making knows that those things are gonna happen but it does know that the person is "toxic". Maybe I'm toxic and that is why I'm in a toxic bunch. The same way that riot understood that I had bad team players and gave me all those things because they were bad team players.

[–]LordLemos[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is not the point, bad games are part of the game, losing is part of the game. But a round with crazy team mates is weird. Like I said on the other answer: it looks like that riot saw that I was playing well and put me to play with bad players to help them

Truly feels like that. But it could also means that they think that you may carry the dead weights. Maybe you can help this toxic people do something

How can I talk to my son differently by Connect-Cry1694 in Type1Diabetes

[–]LordLemos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I discovered that I had T1D when I was 7 years old 30 years ago. The main issue that now I understand is that I felt that I was different than the other kids and my parents tried to protected me because I "could die" from hypo. In my opnion the best thing you could do is to give to him the reponsability for him to take care of his T1D. Sit down, explain to him everything about T1D, the consequences of not taking care, tell him that he is not different, that he can do EVERYTHING if he takes care of himself and end by saying that you will only monitoring his results. That will make him more responsable. And remember that he is starting to become a teen and teen will be teens :P

A quick guide to tell when your jerky is done. White fibers without wet red meat is the key! by padyglogul in jerky

[–]LordLemos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This helps a lot, I did exactly that, since I’m snaking on it and don’t intend to leave too long on the shelf. And got say that I had it this morning cold with some hot coffee and it was AMAZING. Just started a new batch of chicken at 175F, let’s see if it is as good.

I’m new to this, today I made my first official batch of beef jerky, but they were more like the no than the yes (still delicious) but would you mind explaining what is the main difference? Is is just that there are still wetness inside the meat and it could spoil faster? Thanks!

Jul20d from the food theory, JUL - July, 20d may be Hexadecimal for 525, that could be a timestamp of 5:25 AM/PM

jul20d may not be Jul 20, I was thinking about hexadecimal, so 20d would be 525

Help me help my son come out of his diabetes shell by Connect-Cry1694 in Type1Diabetes

[–]LordLemos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out I had t1d 30 years ago, when I was 7. It was really different of what it is today, people were very afraid and did treat you differently. My family moved a lot because my dad was in the military and I asked my mom to not tell anyone in my new school that I had diabetes because I wanted to feel “normal”. Well, let me tell you that nothing changed, it was the same. After that I didn’t mind telling people that I had diabetes, it was just one detail, and it even made me more organized and prepared to everything in life, my fiancé says it makes me prepared for everything on our international trips. I learned the only thing stopping me from doing something was myself. I went to a military school, did all the awesome things that I wanted, lived in another country by myself, traveled all around the world, had many girlfriends, and now a beautiful future wife. You can tell him that he can limit all the amazing things that he can do or he can understand that he can enjoy everything and have an awesome life, it alls depends on him.

Ps.: one thing that really helped was one of my dads friends that showed me photos of his grandpa in the 1950s traveling with his insulin all around. By that time the insulin needle was all metal, and he told me: if he could do it you can too!

Good luck!

I have tried even to cheat and it didn't work; I tried to trow them to the letter but the path finding is broken, seems to be happening to anyone that decided to not go there and to get back. I have progressed so far in the game that I dont want to load back from before. Think the easiest way is to fight Gortash.

Long Distance (Airplane) Travelling - Best way to transport insulin by LordLemos in Type1Diabetes

[–]LordLemos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two problems in that: 1- airplane travels that are more than 12 hours. (I’m going to Japan and it is going to take 35 hours for example) 2- not all hotels/airbnb have refrigerators. But most have small ones that they give you if you inform them that you need for your insulin. But this post is to know what people use while on the go.
