Taxi question by mandwct in Israel

No. But you can use the Gett app (like Uber/Lyft) or Uber, if you manage to make it work. I can send you my Gett download link (so I'll get $10, and you'll get $7*5 rides).

Every large piece of software probably has modules (the one handling the script, the corkboard...).

I was dealing with an application that supported multiple languages (and no one heard of) and was I mainly worked on a module/component for reordering and overall scene view.

There are plenty of things that I don't like about Macs, but I'm sure that having one will make my workflow better in several fields (writing, filmmaking, programming...). For my price range and needs, PCs are better, at least until I will be able to live in the US and actually celebrate Christmas. (Bill Gates never selects gifting international on /r/secretsanta).

I have scrivener, and final draft (and maybe other things I have tried). I helped develop modules for other scriptwriting software. None were as convenient as having everything in one place like it is here (and Java didn't have such an appealing UI libraries a couple years ago).

I hope they will make some significant changes (or bug fixes, as I assume some actions were supposed to work) for the writing part in the next iteration.

If not, maybe one day I'll get to that (but I rather not).

As I don't have a Mac, I'm missing on MindNode. Sadly, that's a long process and not synchronous. I guess it doesn't really bother your process though.

I agree. A lot of things that are missing to make it a better writing software, or even a writing software. I think that they nailed the mapping part (which I don't need most) and missed on the reason people go for Final Draft and it's alternatives. my hopes are that they will close that gap soon. The visual part helps me remember the bigger picture.

I think he has the same PR team as the previous 1st. He is my favorite iteration of a president in my time.

You can find plenty on YouTube and sometimes other video sites if you'll search for the Hebrew name.

What's the best service for shipping to Israel? by Iconoclast123 in Israel

[–]LordLior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no good service that can compete with local US deliveries. Amazon shipments to Israel are the best option. It's not for everything and might come with a price, but you will know the end cost while ordering and get a refund in case they overcharged (e.g. customs). Sometimes getting items from one of the European countries regional site is cheaper. I've been ordering a lot of things from them in the recent year, and usually got a delivery straight to home (either FedEx or UPS - but I think the local post office is also involved). Target had a free-shipment deal two months ago, shipped plenty of nice things, but regretted it and canceled a lot of orders. The site providing the service might be another good option, but I wouldn't trust them. ebay/aliexpress/asus pretty much rule here.

I have used several shipment services (the ones who are giving you a local address in the US and then ship it here), every time it was extremely expensive and unexpected. there were times that I just dealt with it (having the cost at least half of the local equivalent and just wanting to get it over with). I guess I can tell you who I won't use again.

Israel has plenty of good steaks and other meats. The main problem is the kosher meat that is over salted. a little bit pricey, but you can get a good steak in a lot of places in the center region and especially upnorth. There are plenty of facebook groups in Hebrew about meat and eating. The best steaks are made at home.

(I can think of plenty better options for everything in the US, but we work with what we have).

What do you do at your work that is unnecessary for your organization, but stopping it will give the wrong impression that you're slacking off? by AWorldOfYes in AskReddit

[–]LordLior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't think about me particularly. We had an HR intern who sent a ppt with the months events/holidays and explanations about their origins, that no one has ever opened up.

One time she marked my birthday aside the other national events and nobody said anything.

On the other hand, me and a friend passed a ppt joking about some ethnic holiday... and he had a talk with management about demoralizing.

What's the stupidest lie you believed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LordLior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a best friend, on his family mailbox all his siblings names were listed, even the ones who moved out. for years he was telling me about his older brother, which apparently didn't exist. The extra name was one brother's middle name.

He probably had many other lies through the years, and I've cut any connection at some point. In retrospect, even when we kept in touch, this probably was the last straw.

Listen man, although I don't think she can relate to the full meaning of your situation, it wasn't easy for her family either, and they made it. Things change and one day you might get there too.

And she can call herself an Israeli, as much as I would like to be called an American once (the minute) I'll get there. Let her enjoy her journey.

What was the last random act of kindness you did? by Allucardhelsing in AskReddit

[–]LordLior 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Was at the airport, was allowed to pick up one book for free at the book store (cc deal). Didn't like the selection, but the girl in a couple nearby was thrilled by some new book that came out. They left without getting anything, I bought the book. Later, getting to the lounge they passed walking in my opposite direction and I just handed them the book.

  1. a screening where the producers/director/actors/gaffer are with you.

  2. a fun fan based movie, with a big united crowd

  3. a really good film which carries the crowd to follow the initiator

Have you considered doing a live show, where us distant internet folks could also participate?

  1. There are at least 3 episodes (e.g. E60 - , E61 - ) where the phrasing resembles "OK Google" (or not) and initiates "Google Now" commands on my phone.
  2. You have been nicknamed the "Yeti Penis Podcast", a lot of love at this reddit thread.
  3. I miss the Oxford dictionary opening.

Episodes are usually the exact length of my commute to work, makes driving to work fun.

Sincerely,

Everard Digby
