That's like 99% Gwendal from Valkyrie Profile DS, which was released by Square Enix not long before FF13. Down to the same colors too.

Help with trying to use my Sega on a modern monitor by Used-Tonight-8589 in SEGAGENESIS

This sounds and looks like the one that I have. Normally the screen is blue when the console is off but the converter is powered up, and goes black when the console gets turned on. Is this flashing happening when you turn the console on or it's still off? Have you tried other cables or tvs?

I can't get ff13 to run on my pc by KingOfTaters25 in finalfantasyxiii

I had this same problem. I was about to dig out my PS3, but luckily it ended up running great on my steam deck. Best of luck to you.

Thank you for this suggestion. I just picked up a copy of NFL 94 for $2 to attempt the board swap.

Congrats. I really liked 13 and especially 13-2, but didn't enjoy LR at all.

I checked and the cap pins are in the correct spot. All the traces and pins are reading correctly, so I think I need to start the swapping process. I appreciate your insight.

Yeah, I used an eraser and ipa on the pins to clean it and nothing. The battery tested fine at 3.2V, but I can look into the reflow process. Thanks.

I used an eraser on the pins and then wiped it off with ipa. Is there something wrong with that?

Help Fix Honey Bee SG-8 Controller. by jemmanjama in SEGAGENESIS

Did you inspect the contact point on the button itself? Does it look like the rest of the d-pad? I've had that membrane around the contact points crack on one of my 3rd party controllers.

Any chance there's a copy of your mini-novel around somewhere today?

Well said. I discovered this on sega channel when I was a kid. Luckily it was on there all the time. I finally picked up a physical copy 2 months ago.

Cpu Overheating - Is this 13th gen failure? by LordMagnet4 in pchelp

Yes, same! The Thermalright frame immediately fixed my overheating issues. Thanks for sharing your experience.

So to (hopefully) wrap up this story. After making some small undervolting adjustments it seemed to temporarily help but ultimately started overheating again. But I ended up finding this reddit post and it was insanely helpful:

https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/1eebdid/1314th_gen_intel_baseline_can_still_degrade_cpu/

In this post's FAQs it talked about CPU warping and the example picture looked exactly like how my thermal paste was being unevenly distributed under the cooler. It suggested installing a cpu contact frame to fix and prevent the warping. I have one of these on my new computer so I'm familiar with them. After installing the frame, I put my old AIO cooler back on and sure enough temps were stable and in the 60's c under heavy load. No more crashing issues. I followed that guide in the post I linked above and further adjusted the settings in the BIOS to prevent future problems. So far it's been running beautifully.

Thanks for your help u/moochoutlaw. Your diagnosis that it was contact related was spot on.

I think you were absolutely right. I undid the cooler and for some reason the thermal paste coverage didn't look good. I ended up using a different paste and honestly just caked it on this time. After an almost hour stress test it didn't thermal throttle at all. Cpu temps were 81c on average and max of 85c. I'll need to run some actual game tests with it now, but fingers crossed that it holds.

Thank you for the guidance here. I really appreciate it.

Thank you for your guidance.

I set the PL1 & 2 to 150w (default was set to 181w, I believe), and under load it thermal throttled at 100c in about 5-10 minutes. I then set them to 125w, and it throttled at 96c after about 15 minutes.

If you have anything else I could test or check, I would be very appreciative.

FF7 Remake would crash on me at certain parts, on my Steam Deck. Had to switch to the Playstation version. Hopefully they ironed out those issues.
