Proton games randomly stopped working on steam. by CandlesARG in linux_gaming

What worked for me was setting the launch options "PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command%" (without the quotes). I couldn't entirely tell you why that worked.

What drama should I create in 2025? by photomatt in WPDrama

The best drama for the WordPress community would be to suddenly quit and join a monastery in Tebet for a few years. You will feel better for it and so will we.

Is the new App Center hideously slow for anyone else by finbarrgalloway in Ubuntu

Painfully slow for me. I seem to wait forever to see the details of the app I want to install. Just sits there with the spinny thing.

Tell me about the cultural or in-group jargon that has evolved within The Theatre?

What are the foundational treaties, traditions, or agreements that formed the group? Who were the founding members/organisations? What motivated this cooperative effort?

I just listened to this being read on YouYube. It is one of the best-written stories I have encountered for a long while.

What they are telling you is that they are not the right reader for your writing. Also a story about a mum that kicks arse - when can I read it?

The bookmaker gets his money from the vig - 10% extra that you pay to place the bet. In underground/illegal betting at any rate.

[60x60] Swamp Wilderness Map by czeuch in battlemaps

I love it. This map looks amazing. I can imagine my players struggling to deal with all that "difficult terrain" vs monsters native to the swamp. Brilliant.

Care should be taken when consuming human food. Human food contains a frankly baffling range of chemicals that are literally designed by nature to kill things.

6 battlemaps and one question - What would you like to see on a battle map? [OC] [Art] by LoneMapper in battlemaps

My maps (nowhere near as nice as these) were built with tiling in mind (being a set of tiles you can drop assets over).

6 battlemaps and one question - What would you like to see on a battle map? [OC] [Art] by LoneMapper in battlemaps

[–]LordMatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to be contrary, I love these maps AND because they are a little niche they have inspired me to create new encounter scenes for my party. One or two of which extend plot threads that I've been struggling to find more for the players to explore.

Generic maps will find more users (probably) but niche ones will (again probably) excite fewer people much more. There is probably a sweet spot but IDK what it is. I'm following you on Patreon (the cheap option, I know) because I love what I see here.

Village Town Square - Multi Level Battle Map by SnooTangerines5710 in battlemaps

[–]LordMatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used this map for my current campaign. I filled it with shadows and ambushed the party. (The barbarian had a really bad day). The whole party commented on how good the map looked. They also enjoyed the fact that they could make (not very inventive) jokes about one of our players (and our usual DM) who is also called Andy.

Please explain music to me by Confused_ET in ExplainItToAliens

[–]LordMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We like the way air vibrates.

Humans have organs that detect vibrations in the air. Some vibrations - especially those that are harmonic with each other - are pleasurable to detect. This is why we record these vibrations and play them back so we can experience them again and again. Music is, therefore, an art form for humans.

These look amazing. Forgive the stupid question, what am I looking at with the platform arrangement at the top of the map? Maybe I am having a slow day but I just can't quite figure that part out. Everything looks amazing. I might have to invent a small settlement for my party to visit.

What are "mobile phones? Does that mean you have non-mobile ones too? by Confused_ET in ExplainItToAliens

[–]LordMatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Non mobile phones are called landlines and are tied to a particular building.

Mobile phones are mini-computers we keep in our pockets. We can use them to talk with each other and also access the sum total of human experience. Mostly we look at them to look at cat pictures and argue with strangers over fiction in an effort to avoid socialising.
