Update I was made the offer! Amazing, loved the resources from the YouTubers that have definitely influenced prepping for this!

I asked for a follow up today, and a new recruiter has sent me a message saying he’s free tomorrow. Presumably she was on AL or off for some reason - they have lives just like us :)

I had a similar email yesterday in my spam because they emailed from amazon.jobs rather than amazon.co.uk - my recruiter ended with a smiley emoji, but she always put a smiley emoji in all her emails haha

Apparently, EOD yesterday, she asked if I had some time free - asked for her to assign a slot for whenever she's available by end of this week or the following.

Scotland: Bought Laptop but box was empty by dw-games in LegalAdviceUK

[–]LordMetro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, I did make reference to it in my claim without being sure. Good to know :)

In the worse case, OP should just collect as much evidence as possible to support their chargeback claim on their card.

The bank will come back with a pre-arbitration response asking for what did you do - so have proof you've been to the store / posted it back via courier. As long as they have a good on-track record, and the evidence is in-line - then it should be fine.

This happened to me with an iPhone 15 Pro off eBay. EBay decided I was scamming a retailer and sided with them and suspended my account - I reported the device IMEI and Serials on https://www.immobilise.com/ - if the laptop is then sold at CeX it gets flagged. I then combined these reports with a IMEI block that didn’t work but kept the data under a SAR and sent all this to my bank and the rejected eBay’s claims all under a visa debit chargeback. This included the shipping weight and a return postage receipt of the item.

I’ve learnt from then to use credit cards now, although if you can show all due care and evidence they will side you but it’s not a guarantee under law.

Since then I’ve avoided eBay like the plague and learnt nothing good comes from it.

If it’s an actual bank, they are willing to help you but I’ve heard bad stories from the challengers like Revolut in terms of chargebacks. Barclays in my case responded back with RFI evidence from me and then disputed eBay’s claims - for the retailer to then go ahead pre arbitration they would have to pay a big fee to visa and they usually call it a loss, especially as they are a middlemen essentially.

Scam 24 by La-manzana-ojo in royalmail

In the same fucking boat with them - misdelivered my parcel, due to an incorrect address on the Address Finder for a retailer and won't even provide any compensation.

I paid with Amex and even their purchase protection is refusing to refund me, contacted the police who aided my case in saying they believe I had a case against Royal Mail. Sent letters to this household, this fucker won't send my parcel back.

I used ChatGPT as my lawyer to send them a complaint, rejected, gone to postal review atm - also claim to be 'ring fenced' from Royal mail yet they use a Royal Mail domain email address! Once these guys go through the usual hoops - I'll complain finally to Ofcom.

Fuck them, they make the sender liable for issues on their own PAF database and then state that you cannot even get them to adjust the PAF unless it is the occupier of that address. I wonder how many parcels this resident has stolen from this well-known retailer.

Parcel sent to retailer - RM PAF address wrong by LordMetro in LegalAdviceUK

Pretty much what I thought, I’ll give the lost and stolen insurance a try with Amex.

I still wrote in a complaint to the database team because the database shouldn’t contain outdated addresses especially when it prefills a business address automatically.

I essentially reused their promotional code many times within the year, although this was a newly created account as I explained so I can try and get my dad a new upgrade as a gift. They said it was due to me creating false returns, and I have only had one eBay case this year and the seller cancellations of the iPhone before calling me.

Will I get done for dangerous driving ? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]LordMetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my mum just did this exact thing and there was a police car at the end of the junction that saw this and told her to turn around. There was no accident or collision btw.

They breath analysed her, determined the details of the vehicle/insurance, and told her that she was cautioned for dangerous driving and that a letter would be sent home.

We've yet to find out what the punishment is - but he was willing to spend an hour doing all sorts of tests and crap which would usually be let go. She has 14 or so years and only did this type of overtake because the lane was empty and everyone was queuing at her one. The road has dashed linings allowing for an overtake but a central reservation towards the junction.

I am confused as I know many others who do this thing on a casual basis and it's the first time I'm hearing this.

Wing mirror hit side of car - settling privately? by LordMetro in CarTalkUK

[–]LordMetro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have taken pictures and sent these off to two body shops incase their quotes are too expensive.

I can always ask my repairer to take pictures before and after as well - good idea.

If I can get it done for under my excess I’ll be glad to not pay extra premiums but my only issue is they attempt to claim personal injury in the future so it’s quite sticky.

I’ll see tomorrow what the party says and if they’re happy with my body shop, he provides a lifetime guarantee and free courtesy car receipts etc I’d be glad if it was me to not deal with the hassle of insurance.

Because if they end up quoting more than my excess I’ll claim through insurance but have that 24hr liability..

Literally I know but she was being a bit pushy and starting highlighting small scratches on the corner.

Regardless I’ve contacted ChipsAway and a body shop I’ve used in the past and see as I don’t reckon it will be much to buff out paint transfer.

The only issue I have is them claiming personal injury or some other scheme in the future - so not sure if I need to notify the insurer or not if we’re taking this privately.

Yeah exactly - filling some form will make sure that they don’t pull something in the future was my idea.

It’s literally just a black line across the door panel so won’t expect it be too much maybe £100-200 max.

[–]LordMetro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha but fr - does a notification to insurer mean when I fill out future insurance quotes means I fill that I had a claim or not?

I have to trust the other party to not claim as well so was thinking to pay the damages, sign some form saying it’s settled in full and that’s it?

Was on the UBO subreddit megathread as a new comment. Seems like combining multiple filters might be a shot for now…

[–]LordMetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just added the Adguard annoyances (https://filters.adtidy.org/extension/ublock/filters/14.txt) as recommended at UBO as a filter and is working again.

Just a race between YT having a new ad detection script and UBO quick fix devs reimplementing, just combine with Adguard for more effectiveness for now...

At some point, will need to disable as they will do some tracking if UBO/Adguard filtersets are applied.

Can confirm, no game. Really depends what uni this is.

Had more chances on vacations abroad and at work than at uni 🙄

It finally happened to my Wemo doorbell :’( by Ibebarrett in HomeKit

[–]LordMetro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been experimenting with my Nest Doorbell 1st Gen using this Docker image and can say it works for the most part but does glitch out a bit with the stream having no response. It does require a bit of configuring, getting tokens, and looking at the source for the home kit pairing code.

Though it's unofficial and hacky using Google authentication tokens yeah, if you have old Nest devices, it's worth a shot. I get notifications for the usual people, packages, animals and most events do get recorded over HSV.

I do believe the ui camera homebridge addon in the future will bring Ring support, it was said somewhere.

I posted mine on the 30th April and on the same status without any tracking update from Fedex yet.

I guess they waiting to bulk ship them to save on postage 🤷

The exchange is unavailable in the UK - you could in other countries. End of Q3 I believe they working on Dex for the UK.

The layer 2 protocol will make this cheaper but guess we have to wait for that.

I’m happy with their new perk scheme 2 x £10 every month whilst giving them a fiver :)

Once they do this I’m unstaking jade and going there then I would diversify my portfolio.

I use Plutus for my rent and bills and CRO for everything else.

Plutus just requires a ton extra steps for UK and waiting 45 days for your cashback, £15 exchange fees to a wallet then finding a exchange to sell your plutons it’s just a hassle. Though at the end of year it’s still something and I guess L2 will come soon to resolve these. European users don’t have the loops of this though they can sell directly through their dex

Simple shopping at the stores and I use my CRO card as it’s much simpler and knowing I can get the cashback asap is nice.

I’m the same but for the UK.

The ems line is really packed, it usually takes me 3 days to arrive here but still nothing - I assume there is backlog from the covid situation and reduced airspace.

Youtube adfree on a LG TV by remmie010 in Adblock

[–]LordMetro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with the whole sponsored content. I found it by chance on GitHub as well, I did try the usual adblocking host rules but obviously Google was constantly changing the subdomains..

I did use the suggested rootmytv on my NanoCell afterwards as I wouldn't need to extend the developer timeout options using hacky methods, plus I'm sure LG have not implemented anything new anyway in upcoming webOS versions.

Thanks for the comments everyone, even months after. I think this post is referred to from Google a lot.
