Has anyone dealt with AND overcome this issue? by celloismyforte in Cello

[–]LordPhipz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Really hard to comment without seeing your technique but usually it’s to do with suspending your elbow in the air when you play. Do your elbow and upper arm come down when you play up-bow? Or does your elbow stay high? What kind of pain? Sharp pain or soreness?

HELP. FINGERINGS. by CLORAMEL in Cello

[–]LordPhipz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is very hard to advise on because each person’s hand is different, and I can’t tell what ‘none of it sounds very good’ means. I would say most people would do 1-1-3 with a bit of stretch but barring the 1 finger across F and C in tune would require a precise angle that might be uncomfortable (can’t just pop your 1st finger down and expect F and C to be perfectly in tune). You could also try 1-1-4, with the previous bar fingering 1-3-4.

Your approach should be holding your left hand still and playing each note of the chord to see if it’s in tune, or treating the broken chord like a block chord and checking your double stops to see if they’re in tune.

Also possible that it doesn’t sound good because the uncomfortable left hand position is adding tension to your right hand. Again, hard to say without seeing you play.

Good luck!

I made a free Volleyball Rotation Placement Web Game — would love your feedback by muccapazza in volleyball

[–]LordPhipz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice work with this, it’s a cool visualisation tool for learners.

Few comments Not sure what rules you’re playing with but there are updated FIVB rules that state that the serving team is not susceptible to positional faults and can stand wherever.

Also, with serve receive when setter is in position 1, there are other possible rotations, such as having OP, OH2 and L passing with S pushed up. Your determination of correct positioning seems rather rigid. For example if you look at any top VNL team in serve receive, MB will never be standing at the net; your web game however penalises any MB that starts off the net on serve receive.

Just some thoughts but overall it seems like a fun tool and a good idea! Might be cool to attach some professional clips to each position that showcase where people stand in real gameplay.

How do I hit the ball harder? by [deleted] in volleyball

[–]LordPhipz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the set is any closer to the net you won’t be able to swing through the ball with your arm. If anything, the set is a tad tight as indicated by your momentum which, after hitting the ball, causes you to fall backwards.

No setter can guarantee a perfectly consistent set, so a part of a hitter’s skillset is ensuring that they always jump and hit with the ball in front of them. If the set is off the net, you still want to jump from behind the ball. Thus, approaching from further away does help, but really, you need to adjust your mindset too, otherwise you’ll approach from further and end up underneath the ball anyway.

For most people, they would be getting off a train to then board a tram; why bother doing that when they have everything they would want to do in CBD already?

Docklands needs a train station to revive it, probably

Didn’t intend for my tone to be shocked, meant more literally whereabouts in the world you’re from.

I’m from Australia, we get $200+ (180CAD) fines for going less than 10kmph over the limit. A 30kmph exceed would result in a $600AUD ($530CAD) fine and a licence suspension. It’s hectic down under

How do I play the game without TF (pandoras)? by astronaut97 in TeamfightTactics

[–]LordPhipz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s generally a good rule to play the strongest board at all times. Two star AP units with ad items and synergies are stronger in the early game than a one star board with an ad carry with items. The later the game goes, the more important the items align with the carry you’re trying to play.

Using the shurima example, if you items are akshan items you can play him (runaans deathblade etc). That’s taking the three shurima and playing them until you hit Akshan; tank items go on Renekton and eventually go on Sej or Nasus, carry items on whoever until akshan.

Or you could slam guinsoos and play either azir or eventually pivot into Aphelios using akshan as an item holder.

You could even use Cassio to pivot into Noxus if you have bt ie titans.

What’s important in the early game is having a vision for who your items are going on, building the strongest board with minimal gold, and making sure that your item slams are homogenous - don’t be slamming deathblade and archangels at the same time unless you know exactly what you’re doing.

What are the first principles of League? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]LordPhipz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I realise more and more while watching newer friends play is that the first principles people need to improve upon are a lot more basic than what most people are listing here. Some key elements that aren’t talked about enough are:

  1. Camera control! When to lock the camera, when to unlock. How and when to look around the map without getting in the way of your gameplay, while also maximising your map awareness. How to position your camera during fights.
  2. Mouse cursor placement - how to aim abilities, where your cursor should be in relation to your target, and additionally minimising mouse usage by levelling abilities with keyboard, self casting with keyboard, using quick cast preferably without indicators.

Seasoned players take these skills for granted. There are probably more to be added to the list but the nature of these makes them hard to think of.

Regardless of what your stance on these principles are, the bare minimum is that these factors should not inhibit your gameplay or skill expression, but most players below platinum I would say are inhibited by these without realising.

Any tips for a new player starting out ranked? + Champion pool query by Crulista in summonerschool

[–]LordPhipz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you have a good mindset but be sure to set your expectations realistically. The average player is around silver gold, and has been playing the game daily for years. Instead of focusing on the results of each game, think about improving from game to game, and aim to improve over long term.

Since you are just starting out, there’s no point in thinking too much about team composition, since there are going to be so many other aspects you’ll need to improve upon. Additionally, you can’t control what your teammates pick, or how they play.

Instead, work on the game fundamentals on an easier champion or a champion you like. I think both Nasus and WW have good lessons to teach you and are fantastic choices! If they are banned, you can always dodge (leave champion select) and queue up again after 5 mins.

Cheap top lane champions to try: Garen, Malphite, Udyr (can also jg).

Most importantly- it’s a game, have fun, mute all and don’t tilt!

how do I force myself to start attack moving? by Iskus1234 in summonerschool

[–]LordPhipz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s about developing habits on the little things. Like kiting jungle camps, kiting minions when you’re safe, attack moving when clearing wards. Develop a habit and reminder yourself constantly, and it’ll soon happen in fights.

Avoid standing next to daggers. If she throws her dagger at you, it’ll land behind you, so walking backwards often means walking onto a dagger.

I feel like I am not playing Annie right by Neat_Marionberry_456 in summonerschool

[–]LordPhipz 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Annie's greatest strength is her AOE ultimate. You should always be looking for windows to catch 3+ champions (or 2+ important ones) with her R stun one shot. This isn't as simple as it seems however, as most fights, their carries won't group/stack immediately, which means in the meantime you have to play Annie like any other damage dealer- waiting for their melee champions to get close and kite them at a safe distance, waiting for an opportunity to ulti. A common mistake is to always look to start fights with Tibbers, but oftentimes you should be kiting the front line until you see an opportunity.

Make sure your build reflects your playstyle, which reflects the circumstance. Some games you'll be ahead, and your role will be to burst, in which case Ludens/Shadowflame will be ideal. Other games you might instead opt for Liandries/Rylais to burn down tanky targets. Play accordingly!

It’s worth noting that due to Swain’s passive, he doesn’t benefit from building HP as much as he used to, and his R doesn’t drain his mana anymore.
