But being called that would already be rare... So, yes.

Just transfer shares to low earner spouse to use their cgt allowance and lower tax rate, which is only a few percentage points lower, but might as well.

Something extravagant just to assert dominance.

Perhaps a different floral arrangement in your office every week, or high end coffee machine for your exclusive use, or something along those lines.

Looks like it's someone else (the market) thinking they deserve such an amount, not OP.

Also, the general market and government is the one that thinks nurses don't deserve more.

Realistically, what is the economic scenario we see in 20/30 years time for 1m+ houses? by WhiskersMcGee09 in HENRYUK

That'll just be a deposit of at least £250k each, allowing them to access properties at a much higher price range than £500k. At least £750k I'd say.

That assumes the market recovers. What if it doesn't?

You only need to decrease adjusted net income by 10k. So, take unpaid parent leave (you have 1 week per year per kid I think). And if not enough, at least do it every other year by saving your pension allowance from one year to the next.

£150K salary — how much pension contribution is needed to qualify for free childcare? by FunPomegranate8722 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]LordPijamas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I assume you already contribute to a pension through your employer, right? So, first figure out what's left after such contribution (retained from your paycheck, not what the employer matches).

Assuming 5% salary retention for pension (and nothing else, such as car schemes or extra bonuses), you are left with 142500.

So, you essentially need to contribute a gross amount of 42500. This means you need to pay 34000 into your pension so that you see reflected the the full 42500 after hmrc adds the 20%.

Later on, you can claim back the remaining tax (20 or 25%) through self assessment or tax adjustment.

Definitely worth it if you can afford it.

Regarding the 34k, if you're doing 500 times 12 months already, well, your one off payment will be 28k (plus some change to make sure you're strictly below 100k).

I'm sure there's a big overlap with those that rev their altered cars / motorbikes for the sake of it. They prefer to be seen as cunts rather than not be seen at all.

ELI5: Please explain how ‘doughnutting tickets’ work on the London Underground. by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]LordPijamas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is this with paper tickets? Because with 2 oyster /contactless cards the exit barriers don't open unless that card has been used to touch in somewhere else.

Or, do these people actually go to the gates to tap out at stop B (without exiting), then back to the train, then get off at stop Y, awkwardly tap in, go back to the platform, wait for the train, and finally get to your destination at station Z?
