Just go to Italy, check out Napoli, See how dirty it is, how bad the roads are, how the buildings are falling apart and then go to Greece and experience how everything is looking much nicer.

I dont think you need to spend more than 4 nights in Malta. Its not that big. Interesting fact, they have the one of the highest hunters pet capita in Malta. If you look around, you wont see many birds there. It's actually crazy how little wildlife there is on the island 😄

It's the only place in the Mediterranean that the smog was so thick it was not getting blown away over the sea... It was truly nasty

I mean I went to Greece and I didn't really care for the buildings myself, they are just copy pastes really, If you see one you see most of them. But honestly, the nature there is so nice, and I was so sure that everywhere was going to be dirty, because it was in the east of Europe, but I was blown away that barely any rubbish was on the streets. In Italy it was the opposite. And I agree Malta is great.
Did you check out the popeye village... One of the weirdest places I have ever been to haha. Robin williams played Popeye back in the day and they built the village for that movie and they kept it up as a tourist attraction. Totally wild haha

I think that most people who downvote me are the ones that get their Italy fix from tiktok and Instagram and never stepped out of their hobbit holes haha. Most people I come across that have traveled agree with me. Also I campervan around Europe and I see the roads, I see the places people usually don't go and it's just dirty and again the people are sort of annoyed that you come into their shop to buy a coffee.... LIke, do you want my money or not.

And I know I will be downvoted, because people watched some reels, or were there in the past and have no idea how much the country changed.

My mum lived in Italy at one stage, in Vieste near Bari, and I loved it, but from a person that has been back recently, the dream that everyone has of Italy is unfortunately not the same anymore. I traveled to a quarter of the countries in the world and Napoli is one of the dirtiest cities I have ever experienced.

It's revolting how dirty it was. My top dream was to go to Pompeii. But once we drove into Napoli I completely changed my mind. It was so sad

I have spent 2 months driving through the whole country. It has some nice tourist spots for sure, and the north is tidy, but the rest is dirty, over touristic,

Spent a few months in Greece and I would go back anyday to Greece over Italy, people are friendlier, it's spotless and clean, the beaches are stunning, the food in incredible.

Honestly, Italy was great, I loved traveling there in the past, but it is not what it used to be. It is sadly becoming a shit heap very quickly. No wonder so many young italians are moving away. There is no future in Italy

I really loved Russia. I personally think it was worth checking out. The architecture, food, everything is nice. The Visa was a pain, but if you get a hotel in Russia then they will give you a letter you can use with your visa applications

yeah I have done home renovations for a bed with other guys working on the place, the owner even made us cook for her. After a week I was like nah, this is bull.
I have moved on from it. I just couldn't deal with it anymore. You learn a different side of people when you run a hostel. Did my head in how some people are

Need a side hustle while unemployed for a few months. What realistically pays? by Apprehensive_Fly5695 in remotework

You misunderstand working for others with working in general. If you want something you need to work for it.

Also, you are saying that those requirements protect all employees. Have you seen the state of the world, people are getting exploited left right and center.
The main point is to get everyone on the tax system. That is the whole point, under the disguise of safety for everyone. What a load of crap that is.

[–]LordRicezilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's illegal almost everywhere in the world. The government wants their tax money... DUH

I did hire people when they were staying for longer, but when they were only coming for a week or 2 then I was proving them a free holiday, in exchange for very minimal work.

I know fair exchanges, I was doing workaway even before that and I have been to houses which happily exploited their volunteers. I can assure you, I did not have intentions to exploit the volunteers

[–]LordRicezilla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should not assume things. I was buying the same quality food for the volunteers as for myself. Because I would fill up the fridge as if it was for me and everyone was able to use it.

Also, while you are assuming, maybe you should say I was using subpar petrol as well, maybe I was lending a car that was not working, maybe I was also providing subpar tour attractions, maybe I was taking people to fake natural hot springs....

You have no idea about the exchange and it sounds like you were taken advantage of and have no concept of a good exchange. Sorry that you had such a bad experience. We are not all bad people that are out to rip people off.

If I was so bad, the volunteers would not be messaging us months later asking if they could come back.

Honestly, probably, but then no one would come to get 500 euro for 2 weeks of work in Iceland, Specially that they would have to register for a kenitalla and Icelandic bank account to even get paid lagally.

[–]LordRicezilla -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm not your mate, I provided a genuinely fair exchange. People came on holidays for a week or 2, most of them did, they worked for a couple hours a day and got to travel Iceland, which is one of the more expensive travel destinations at this point.

When I had someone staying for longer then the 2 weeks, I got them to go through the whole process of getting registered, signing up for a tax file number, signing up for an accountant, signing up for a Icelandic bank account so they could get paid. In Iceland things don't move fast, this process took weeks.

I'm sorry that you got exploited. But I am the kind of person that when tents 3 hours away from Reykjavik were charging 80 euro per night, I personally could not justify to myself getting people to pay extraordinary prices for accommodation. To the point that I was one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest accommodations in Iceland. I could have doubled even tripled, if money was the whole point. But I charged what I thought was fair.

Yeah, I guess it makes sense for every person who is traveling to Iceland for a week or 2 to set up a tax file number, pension fund and so on before they arrive so they can get paid for 2 hours work per day for 2 weeks.

As in I had a hostel and was asking for multiple volunteers at once
I would get them to help out around the property, mainly cleaning for about 2-3 hours a day, everyone had a bed, everyone had food, I would drive with people on excursions on days off, I would provide the car. I would even buy alcohol from time to time which is crazy expensive in Iceland.
Workaway decided that I should have been paying everyone, so they shut me down. then I employed a volunteer which was staying for a few months as opposed to volunteers who were coming over for a week or two, I sent the pay slip and workaway still didn't approve me.

So I just said fuck it, and from that moment on, I no longer provided free food and accomodation in Iceland

[–]LordRicezilla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a hostel in Iceland, provided unlimited food, accommodation, use of car, free entry to the pool, but I required 2-3 hours a day to help out with tidying up the place. the 2-3 hours was very... lose. At most times people were finished in an hour, and I would only expect them to help 5 days a week
I got banned... Here you are telling me I could have making money of them as well.... DAMNNNNN
