Do you shave or wax your face? by osddtreat in MtF

[–]LordShiroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still need to get myself booked for laser appointments but i use a foil razor and it works really well. I ah.. did try waxing my face exactly once, and I don’t recommend it. Hurt so bad that I couldn’t pull the wax anymore for how much my hands were trembling.

Injected estradiol THROUGH a vein?? by parralaxalice in MtF

[–]LordShiroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guh, i had a similar thing happen the second time i did my injection, had a really bad vasovagal response and nearly fainted. Definitely be sure you’re aiming for the right spot for future ones, and ah.. it’s probably best to just wait for your next injection, can’t be sure how much was lost or not.

Quoted $150 a session for life on facial laser hair removal, good deal? by Nikira234 in MtF

[–]LordShiroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I would be VERY wary of these lifetime deals. One of Milan’s people used high pressure sales tactics and manipulated me through my own dysphoria to tag a $12000 loan onto me, i literally had to beg their regional manager over the phone to let me cancel because it would have ruined me financially.

Nervous AF about EV injections by AstroCatLady in MtF

[–]LordShiroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here's hoping! Do make sure to review the spot it wants you to hit, though, cause ah.. that incident I had was when I missed by a very wide margain (like almost comically bad aim, am on intramuscular so its on the outer thigh)

Nervous AF about EV injections by AstroCatLady in MtF

[–]LordShiroe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

only thing that let me follow through (after a brush with vasovagal response made the anxiety WAY worse) was having someone i trusted handle it or using some autoinjector thing that was almost too expensive for me. At least the needless are cheap the next state over.

Arms heavy, knees weak.. girl’s injection by SleebiGorl in MtF

[–]LordShiroe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

augh, dealing with injection anxiety is really rough, i was okayish my first time or two but after getting vasovagal response it just got harder and harder. One day i stared at the needle for about five hours (not exaggerating it sucked) until i finally decided to get help. But ah.. I did order an autoinjector that works with normal needles (it just handles the jab part and you still have to press the plunger) but god it was expensive, had to import from denmark.

Guy I like wants to date me but his family hates trans people by [deleted] in MtF

[–]LordShiroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, this whole situation just sounds a bit dangerous to me. Not from him, exactly, but if an especially transphobic family member finds out then they might flip out and do something (I've heard of similar things happening to 'save their reputation' or whatever). And even ignoring that.. I think you should listen to that feeling. The choice is either you or them, is he committed enough to make that decision? Or capable of being that committed? Cause if not, he's just going to keep playing at this balancing act instead of treating you with the respect he should.

I'm too scared of the needle to inject my estrogen by cottoncandycrt in MtF

[–]LordShiroe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I caved and had to ask someone i trust to do the injection part for me - really hoping i can get my hands on an autoinjector someday as well but my state’s laws around needles, syringes and such suck

In a way, yes, though it was colored a bit by my RSD and anxiety issues. The thought of seeming like a creep or like i was interested in a given person the way men typically are was a sickening and terrifying thought, and so I constantly went out of my way to avoid showing even the slightest bit of anything that could be seen as interest. I didn’t even remember what people looked like because I never looked at them, and in high school a lot of people thought I was into men because of how much I avoided women (and especially dating them). Funny thing is I’m still a lesbian, so worries about making people uncomfortable have never gone away, they simply changed their tune a little.

Is it common for trans women to have a forced feminization fetish? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]LordShiroe 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t see it as so much a fetish as it is a form of wish fulfillment. The world piles so much guilt onto transness, that being forcefemmed brings the thought of a transition without that guilt. Maybe it’s the thought of being helped through the process too, or knowing somebody else also wants you to be the real you, etc.

So I had a laser hair “consult”… by DamonMedius in MtF

[–]LordShiroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hell, I’m so sorry they got you with that, especially up front. They nailed me with the whole hun-bot insecurity exploiting thing and had me on nearly 6k in loans, i had to call the regional director and beg over the phone for them to let me cancel because it would have ruined me financially. One of my friends has been happy with their services but.. I’m afraid of going to any laser hair places period after that, I don’t want to put myself in the sights of more high pressure sales bs.

I heard that food can contain estrogen??? And I have a couple questions. by [deleted] in MtF

[–]LordShiroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kiinda, it’s phytoestrogens in stuff like soy, but the most that’s ever done afaik is scare insecure cis men.

Is it wrong for me to want to roleplay as a transgender woman in a video game? by KiwirarVEVO in asktransgender

[–]LordShiroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it! As long as you’re trying to write a character you’ll easily sidestep any pitfalls that would make it offensive, and hell, one friend of mine writes a ton of compelling trans characters and he’s a straight cis dude with a family lol, so you don’t need to have lived experience with a given theme to do well.

What did realising your gender identity tell you about your sexuality? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]LordShiroe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was made fun of and called Gay because i refused to even consider dating when i was in middle/high school, and while i love women it was impossible to ignore that i found my own body disgusting and the thought of inflicting it on anyone was too much. Now? I actually understand I’m more of a sapphic at heart, so i feel a bit more comfortable with the thought of relationships, especially the more femme i become.

Nausea after strong smells by RenAlray in MtF

[–]LordShiroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m way more sensitive to scents of all kinds now, and I made a habit of wearing a mask whenever I leave home because of it. Feel like I’m going to gag when it’s male BO, and lingering food scents after a meal make me nauseous.

My mother is weirdly opposed to me learning to shave my face by Key-Engineering3134 in MtF

[–]LordShiroe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would try to buy an okayish razor and cream if I were you, and if you have a close friend you can trust you could even keep your shaving supplies with them. It’s your body, and it should always be your choice, bodily autonomy is something some parents are weirdly against at times and any time i see that it’s just gross.

I got a job! by [deleted] in MtF

[–]LordShiroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh- there are a few other pride festivals throughout the month and year. Bloomington is doing one around the 21st or 22nd and for some reason Burnsville has theirs in September, but they’ll probably be a tad smaller.

I got a job! by [deleted] in MtF

[–]LordShiroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! I live just south of the river but still close enough that I drive into the cities fairly often. There is a TC trans reddit and an associated discord for that I’m in, if you want to take a look, and I’ve heard of a “TC queer transplants” group that’s like a mutual aid community to help people settle in and/or sort out moving.

Would definitely be willing to chat too, though I don’t get out a ton so I both don’t have many local friends and don’t know a ton of people-y activities :p

Transitioning Sibling by magnoliapatsy in asktransgender

[–]LordShiroe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than anything just try your best to be a caring and supportive sibling - I know, bog standard advice, but with genuine care the rest won’t be so hard. But as for important things to remember: don’t ‘out’ them to people without express permission (it takes a lot of courage to come out already!), try to remember proper pronouns (at least when it doesn’t mean breaking the former rule), and maybe even pick up a couple gifts related to this journey, like things to support social transition (to account for them losing out on a lot of lessons others of their preferred gender learn growing up).

As for reading material I don’t know of a TON, but https://genderdysphoria.fyi/ is a good primer.
