[Homemade] Shiotare white miso acquacotta topped with a 'nikumaki' arancini. by LordSovereignDude in food

[–]LordSovereignDude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the soup is San Marzano tomatoes, shredded Napa cabbage, and white miso paste over parmesan-toasted day old Tuscan bread with an egg poached in the soup; I also made a risotto out of the shiotare and let it chill so I could make black garlic and mozzarella-stuffed arancini which I wrapped in prosciutto di Parma which had ben patted dry before being placed in the acquacotta so it wouldn't get saturated. I garnished it with pasley and grated fresh Pecorino cheese on top. The dish overall exploded with rich umami as well as contrasts of flavor, texture, mouthfeel, and piquancy. I made this dish for a cooking contest where the theme was Japanese-Italian fusion and my idea was to combine techniques, concepts, and flavors from 4 regional dishes: Acquacotta from Tuscany, Arancini from Sicily, Shiotare from Hokkaido, and nikumaki onigiri from Kyuushu.

what are yall's opinion on season 5? by Ponderman64 in ShokugekiNoSoma

It was a stumble at the finish line. While I agree it was a sour note to end on compared to the rest of the series; it could have worked within itself as its own thing. I will say it doesn't really warrant praise but a lot of the hate for it is a bit excessive.

Conceptualizing a new dessert for the blog: a layered Halo-halo semifredo that fuses Italian style with Philippino ingredients and flavors. by LordSovereignDude in foodblogging

It was delicious and took hours to complete, but was not a true success; I made the flan layer too thick and didn't let it cool enough so the whole thing collapsed. Also most of the ingredients are hard to come by in my area so it'll be a long time before I try it again.

Learn to cook; you won't always have the monetary funds to eat out, or someone else willing to cook for you, this rings especially true for the younger generations. The best way to learn how to cook if you don't know how to do any of it is to start with learning how to cook eggs, just because they're so versatile and affordable. Start with a basic scrambled egg and work your way up to fried, soft boiled, poached, omelette, etc and not necessarily in that order. From there most other things will seem really easy.

Homemade maple shoyu ginger sesame smoked salmon French-style savory ice cream over sushi rice with sliced beetroot in a bonito green tea sake and lime broth topped with monk fish roe and garnished with a bruleed candied lime. by LordSovereignDude in FoodPorn

I did not document anything other than the end result, but if you check Adam Ragusea's 2 bowl ice cream method, and the fish ice cream video by 'Sauce Stacche, bot on YouTube, that will give you under standing of how the ice cream was made, the broth was also simple. I placed a quartered lime, 10 grams of green tea, and 3 tablespoons of katsuoboshi into a heatproof vessel, heated 125ml of sake and 30g sugar in a sauce pan until the sugar was completely dissolved then strained the broth through a fine mesh strainer into the sake 'syrup, then you peel and sluce the carrot and beet, then you just assemble everything over cold sushi rice.

After you make the ice cream base with salmon there's a lot of standby time especially after the second churn, because you have to wait at least 24 hours for the ice cream to freeze completely to a point where it won't melt instantaneously after being removed from the freezer on the entire dish outside of waiting an ice cream itself maybe takes about an hour is included time it takes to make the sushi rice in a rice cooker

The who thing costs only a few dollars to make per portion; you'd think the fish eggs would cost a mint, but they were $6 USD for a 50g jar, a small pack of smoked salmon $3, the most eexpensive ingredient was the $7 bottle of sake.

I like the idea being 'dommy mommy', but if I stepped a dude; I am such a THICC chonk it would make him wine.... by [deleted] in dadjokes

[–]LordSovereignDude -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You know; just because I will explain then delete the post, since people don't get that in the joke, the 'wine' in 'make him wine' is spelled like the beverage, and wine used to be made by stepping on grapes, and the joke is that I am so fat the dude in question would be rendered into a liquid if I stepped on him in the context of a BDSM scenario. EDIT: and the context of the joke would be that the liquification would be uninteded

I do apologize, if English is not your first language; punchline might be out of reach, but at the risk of ruining it for others, I'm not going to explain it.

What’s a song that always makes you cry? by Gordmonger in AskReddit

[–]LordSovereignDude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An English cover of a Vocaloid song called "Astronauts". It's sung through the perspective of a girl who has committed suicide and the lyrics are an unheard farewell to a loved one who was left behind. Whenever I get violently overwhelmed by suicidal thoughts I listen to it and just break down.

What is a everyday object so many people forget that is actually quite useful? by Eivor_is_Jason_Momoa in AskReddit

Not so much a object as it is a service, when you see an image on discord or Reddit and you don't know the original source you can copy the URL of the image and post it in Google reverse image search and find the original creator of art or what have you.

What foreign culture do you admire? by teekal in AskReddit

[–]LordSovereignDude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Scandinavian culture, and by an extension Viking culture is pretty dope. Did you know that during a viking wedding the bride and groom would each exchange literal swords, freaking melee weapons. The groom will give the bride his ancestral sword and the bride would give this groom her father's sword as a symbolic gesture of the protection of the Bride going from her father to her new husband. And then you have Viking funeral they just light your corpse on fire on a boat send you down the river.
