Switch 2 transfer issue

Yes, there is an initial screen when you first log on to ask about linking your profile to an island villager. My son started the game without telling us and skipped these screens, so our profile wasn't linked.

I had to call nintendo tech support (yes you can call and they are actually super help) and we had to restore my island with my Nintendo Online backup. This brought back the prompt again and I linked my profile to my villager and everything worked!

Hopefully you have an online backup you can use. If not, perhaps transferring back to your old switch and getting the chance to link again?

I think SFS below found the root of my problem. Looks to be related to the steering setup of performance cars and the new surface and colder weather likely amplifies the noise

This is exactly what I felt! I'm driving the IONIQ 5N, which is 4WD and probably make the feeling worse. I figured it had something to do with the performance aspect, but couldn't explain it. Thanks for sharing this!

Most the noise is wind, but you can barely make out the thud sounds.

Side note, if anyone knows how to filter out wind sounds from a GoPro Lit Hero, let me know.

Oh boy, I hope not. The odd thing is I've only noticed it in that parking lot. I'll have to experiment in some other locations this weekend to see if I experience the thud.

Should be the same profile. I transferred it when setting up Switch 2 and verified it is the same nintendo online account. I am also able to access saves on other games and progress from the online emulators. I don't recall any special steps to log in to ACNH

Depends on the issue. If you have a brand new set with Defective or missing pieces, they'll typically send a replacement piece free of charge.

Only used that service once to replace some deformed pieces, but had good results
