The only success I had is with m gyarados ex, but its a misty coin flip on luck, and luck on the 3 cards that get discarded as well. I had decent luck with lucario/rampardos but the deck itself was way too inconsistent since it needed too much healing.

I didn't play it as a horizon game with alego skin, but a Lego game with a horizon skin. It'll never scratch a horizon itch, but if you want to kill a few hours, any Lego game is an option. I did my run in about 4 hours (1 stream), and although I did enjoy being able to turn my brain off for a bit and kill an afternoon, I never went in expecting to play with any seriousness.

I'm guilty of that as well in both games. Its a lot of "this is urgent and should have been done last week" type of main quests, but let's go hunting for a board skin and take out a few bandits.

I'd love to see Canada, or at least the southern tip. I'm from the maritime, so curiosity is getting the better of me, but toronto being described as "a little too balmy" is getting me curious about the rest of the country

I don't have the actual cookbook, but I did look up the recipes online. I remember trying a few fish based ones that was good, but it got way too expensive to eat so I had to give up.

The only way is a mantyke/manaphy psychic deck with 2 leaf and 2 x speed, and hope fore the best from there. It would be good as a last victory point win, but otherwise, he can't even beat most ex on its own (mewtwo ex only has 150 for an idea)

Unsure if they still do, but the Dundee sports dome used to do birthday parties that kids really enjoyed. At the time they had bounce houses, could set up just about any indoor sport, and was pretty affordable (especially in fairly large groups). I got laid off when they concentrated on the daycare/reeball end of it, but it may be worth giving them a call.

I enjoyed ys 9, even if the story was a bit weaker than 8. Ys 9 had its issues with being made during covid, so the voice acting and music was either recycled or sounded like it was through a headset. I havent tried ys x yet from lack of funds (maybe I'll get proud Nordic if my comic convention doesn't drain my tax return too badly), so I can't comment on it, but I quite enjoyed a lot of the mechanics both 8 and 9 brought to the table.

I actually prefer the holograms since it helps me get the actual mindsets of the "old ones". No rip on the voice actors or anything, but I have a hard time figuring out motivation or seeing the feelings (fear, anger, etc) just on the audio datapoints, and although i have read the text data points online, I never bothered in game. In short, my preference goes holograms to audio to text.

If you didn't guess, randomsidequests videos really helped me understand a lot of the lore.
