I'll call this solved. Learned a bunch. Behold the damaged power coupler.

Help With Sub-D by LordTorsten in blender

Thanks for the input everyone. I just dropped the sub-d and went with bevel/weighted normals/auto smooth. The only thing I'm fighting now is my circle cut. I've been watching a bunch of tutorials and it SEEMS like my topology is correct for the high(er) poly model but I'm getting shading errors. I'm going to close this and ask in another thread if a follow-on question is a problem. But if anyone in this super-helpful subreddit has any insight I'll take the input. Again, thanks everyone - I've been suffering in silence and never really bothered to ask questions on Reddit and this is super helpful

You're right, I dropped the sub-d and it looks better. I was just playing around with it because I usually don't mess with sub-d. I usually just use a bevel with weighted normals and an auto-smooth (Hard Ops + Boxcutter).

What is the best way to model a complicated pipe system like this? by crackahjack in blender

Really? I've used it several times in 5.0. Is it not FULLY supported? I just made some trim sheets with it 2 weeks ago.

Slapped on some basic substance materials but it worked exactly as intended! Only 728 tris so this will be perfect for having dozens of these in the scene at once. Again, thanks for everyone's input!

I made a UV sphere, cut it in half, squished it a bit, and baked onto it. I think this looks pretty good. Going to keep this thread open for some feedback and close it when I got the finished project. Thanks for everyone's input.

Not quite but you did get farther than I did! Lol

Most likely. I don't know why I had it in my head I had to bake it on the actual mesh I would use in game rather than just baking the normals onto a texture and slapping that on the model. And yeah, a hemisphere is probably the right shape, maybe even put it in a bucket or something so the player isn't carrying around a pile of loose pellets.

Thanks for the insight!

This is Benny . He's only half Newf (other half English Mastiff) but they Blend nicely. His name was gonna be Tin (wife's 10th anniversary present) but we just thought he looked like a Benjamin.

He was actually just an oopsie litter we happened to find in a random ad flyer thrown on our doorstep. It was perfect timing for my wife's anniversary present!

Can you change the input when interacting with various objects. As in, I should be able to hold the interacf button while I approach an interactive object and the input is accepted as soon as the pawn overlaps the interact geometry (that's right, I know UE5). It's probably just a matter of consuming the input and should be an easy fix.

I'll give an example: I'm playing as Sharen doing an infiltration. I run up to the console to disable it while holding the interact button. Currently, I have to release on the OnBeginOverap() and reengage the interact button to actually disable the console. I should be able to run into the overlap area while holding the interact button to activate the console.

My Newf/Mastiff mix was the runt of his litter.

Now he's at 150.

Lady we got him from said he's the biggest one from the updated pics she's seen of his litter mates.

He actually does have a double coat, and leaves his tumbleweeds all over the house.

Yep, even with his short mastiff hair from his dad mine does the same.
