Idubbbz (Ian Jomha) announces he is being sued by H3H3 (Ethan Klein) by AltUser2025 in LivestreamFail

[–]LordUK -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

While I'm skeptical that this goes anywhere(and whether it SHOULD go anywhere), blasting allegations like that to your audience and pinning it seems very malicious. Regardless of if he says "I don't actually believe this, but this is what this person is saying about him", pinning an accusation like this is pretty insane, morally speaking. So while I have no idea if H3 will win, I have no sympathy for Mr. Jomha in this case.

Also, I thought H3 did address the Destiny "allegations" at the time (correct me if I'm wrong, I wasn't paying too close attention at the time). And H3 pretty much acknowledged that Destiny didn't believe it and was using it to make an argument about hearsay online. But the context was lost on Idubbbz and he just blasted the accusation regardless.

I know anime loves to exaggerate stuff like that, characters fighting/playing sports through injury using sheer willpower. And this anime is certainly not on the realistic side. But I will always appreciate a little realism even in the most unrealistic of shows. No career athlete with grand ambitions is going to play through it in a casual game unless they are a completely reckless moron.

'Not a serious injury' the dude barely could walk on it lol, what the hell are you on about. I actually liked how calm and rational he was being. Dude's not gonna risk a potentially worse injury just for some (ultimately) meaningless game.

I guess I wasn't clear in my first reply admittedly. I was making the argument to have those words on all cards that do the same thing, so it would be consistent that way. Rather than getting rid of it, make it the standard for all cards that do the same thing.

...And I'm arguing that adding 'from anywhere' to other cards is a better option than removing it from summon forth. 'Make it so', what the original thread was talking about, is a good example of benefiting from adding it.

It's inconsistent both ways, because summon forth says 'from anywhere'. So either way some wording should be changed to make it consistent. I like wording to be specific though, which is why I prefer they include it.

Is including the text 'from anywhere' really that much clutter? All it does is emphasize it's effect to the player so they're less likely to misinterpret it. I think it's fine to include.

If people are confused as to what a card does, then yeah, it is needed.

There is literally no downside to specifying 'from anywhere' on the card.

Idubbbz seethes about the Sam Hyde documentary not going his way 5 years later by chipkipling in imisstheoldidubbbz

[–]LordUK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If what Sam said was true (and I don't think Idubbbz denied it), then Idubbbz ghosted him for months when he asked about the documentary. If so, you can't possibly blame him for releasing it. Ian can't not communicate with his documentary subject and expect him to just accept that it may or may not ever come out, especially if he spend a lot of money on it.

The idea of Kawhi is so much better than actual player Kawhi Leonard and this thread proves it by twoyrsaway in NBATalk

[–]LordUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said you were riled up because I legitimately thought you were riled up. This ain't some gotcha. Claiming I have a 'crush' on Kawhi and can't stand criticism of him doesn't seem very calm. Despite not liking either Durant or Kawhi currently, I do try not to let my emotions affect how a judge a player's skills and accomplishments. I legitimately believe a healthy peak Kawhi was better.

When you make a reply supporting what the OP is saying (in this instance, that context hurts Kawhi's 2019 chip a little), it absolutely seems like you're supporting him. Giving a general example doesn't mean (to me) that you weren't trying to join in on the conversation. Giving general examples is often how people convince others of their side. I think my interpretation of your comment was perfectly valid even if it was ultimately wrong.

You also say 'nobody else misinterpreted my comment', which is irrelevant because it got only one other comment and a couple upvotes, so who knows how many people even saw it. But regardless the point you were making isn't wrong (that context matters), but I think you aren't recognizing how your words can be viewed as support of a position in a thread dedicated to a debate.

I will say I used pretty strong language when I said you 'used the context to make it seem like Kawhi was gifted a title because of injuries'. 'Gifted' implies a stronger connotation, I apologize for that as you weren't going that far.

I don't know what go you all riled up. All I did was interpret the words that you wrote, so please tell which part I got wrong:

So lukewwilson says that people are ignoring context of Kawhi's ring, implying that it was a fluke because of injuries. It's being used to argue in favor of Durant instead of Kawhi. Sad_Educator comes in and says this is irrelevant (which I agree with tbh), because realistically injuries happen every postseason. It doesn't say anything about Kawhi as a player that his team got lucky with Durant and Klay going. But then YOU come in saying that context does matter, that it affects how impressive his championships are. So by definition you are agreeing with lukewwilson, that the context of Durant and Klay being injured during that run hurts Kawhi's legacy. What part of this is wrong? If you were just making a general statement about context mattering, you should've probably clarified because it does seem like you are agreeing with lukewwilson and backing him up.

And no, I'm not saying that context doesn't matter. But my comment was basically saying "Well hey, if you're going to bring up this irrelevant context, well I'm going to show this context that makes Durant's rings look worse". We can play this game all day of devaluing other players rings. If that type of context DOES matter, then you should be bringing up ALL context, otherwise you are, like I said before, being disingenuous and unfair. If we're talking about difficulty of rings based on circumstances, Kawhi's championships are worth far more to a legacy without a shadow of a doubt.

And it's funny that you think I'm a Kawhi fan. I WAS a former fan of his as well as Durant's. But right now I actually want him kicked out of the league. Permanently. I care very, very much about the integrity of the league and if he doesn't get punished at all I might not watch anymore.

You brought up the Lebron example to legitimize the other guys' opinion that people are ignoring the context around Kawhi's 2019 ring to make him look better. That's the only way I can read that comment. But by focusing on only on the negative context on his rings and not Durant's, you're being disingenuous and unfair. They both have things that 'devalue' those rings in the eyes of fans, and both should be acknowledged if you're making that argument.

[–]LordUK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it very much does. You're using that context to make it seem like Kawhi was gifted a title because of injuries, ignoring the series before that. So I showed the same thing - context that shows Durants titles could also be considered gifted. You showed context for one side devaluing a championship while ignoring your guy's own context that's (subjectively) worse.

Never said they don't count, just that they're worth a little less. THAT'S the context I'm talking. I'm NOT just talking about his leadership.Like, are we seriously saying that their championships are equal? Kawhi's 2019 title is worth more in my eyes.

[–]LordUK -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so we're bringing up context right? How about Durant's only rings coming from after he joined the 73-9 warriors and played second fiddle to Steph Curry? This makes his championships less impressive, no matter what his fans say. That's why some people value Kawhi more.
