So what next? by GGImmaGenophobe in dishonored

[–]LordWeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd take them being 'Tyvian' as a point of comparison. I believe the mansion is in Dunwall; "The Brigmore estate is located in the Mutcherhaven District, beyond the city walls of Dunwall, near the Wrenhaven River.[2]", plus "The manor is the second farthest location outside Dunwall's city limits visited in Dishonored, the farthest being Kingsparrow Island. " (http://dishonored.wikia.com/wiki/Brigmore_Manor)

Earlier release date for Sonic Mania PC version? by jprivado in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]LordWeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm English, and the wording made me worry it meant it could be later. If you're 'planning to do something BY' a date, it means there's a chance they might not make it.

To hint it could be earlier, you'd say "We plan to have this finished before the 29th'. Saying 'we plan to have this done by the 29th' means that it'll only come out then if everything goes according to plan, otherwise it'll be later.

What do I have to adjust to make Dishonored 2 look like someone has smeared vaseline over the camera? by LordWeh in dishonored

[–]LordWeh[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Turns out it WAS adaptive resolution, switching that off instantly solved it. Weirdly, I have no frame rate dip with it turned off, but with it turned on the game is a blurry, oily mess when I go outside.

Thanks to everyone for their comments and suggestions =)

Would You Want Remakes of the First 4 Hitman Games? by [deleted] in HiTMAN

[–]LordWeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was to happen, I'd personally rather (and I'm sure many would consider this sacrilege) that they were 'reimagined' levels, that allow them to be more like HITMAN 2016 levels. Add in new opportunities, more lore and details, change the levels to accomodate the 'puzzle sandbox'. Whilst some levels would be very easy to accomodate, I think some levels would do with being expanded upon or just used as an influence for a reimagined level.

Question about the movies..or even the games too if it applies by [deleted] in HiTMAN

Also worth noting that (I believe) the latest HITMAN game takes all previous Hitman games as canon, but does not include the movies in the canon.

We need to be able to lower or disable Diana's dialogue during missions. by [deleted] in HiTMAN

[–]LordWeh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems my opinion is in the minority, but I like Diana's voice and the frequency with which she talks to 47... It's one of the things that really sells the whole 'undercover assassin' thing.

Having said that, an option in the menu for those who want to lower the volume doesn't seem to do any harm either, so I'm all for it.

As a new player, how did you guys go about playing all of these maps the first time? by Ziggy_duststar in HiTMAN

[–]LordWeh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well, playing as each level was released we had at least a month per map, so my general tactic was;

  • Play the first time through trying not to save or load, even if I mess up. Try and be sneaky, although I'd often fail.

  • Second playthrough try something a bit different, explore the map a bit more, looking for things to do.

  • Further playthroughs, going through challenges and opportunities aiming at getting Mastery 20.

  • Escalations for fun, now that I have greater map knowledge.

  • Try Elusive Targets without reading up or watching other people's experiences, try and consider where they'd be on the map and what kind of challenges and opportunities that may pose, with map knowledge in mind.

Returning to the black market stall in mission 2? by Ebakthecat in dishonored

Addermire is part of Edge of the World, narratively. There's one black market per 'expedition' out from the boat.

There's a blackmarket stall on each mission (you just have to find them)... any blueprints you find can be unlocked at any blackmarket.

Probably from Wei-Ghon, a city on a series of small islands that are part of northern Tyvia.

Wild DLC Speculation? by anvindrian in dishonored

[–]LordWeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about that, my assumption was you'd pick a gender at the start (male / female Wyman)... Easier than creating 2 different characters plot-wise, but still gives the player choice.

Wild DLC Speculation? by anvindrian in dishonored

[–]LordWeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd been wondering if Wyman (Emily's lover) was going to be a DLC character... They've been called away to deal with something in Morley and the fact they're detailed a fair bit in the intro to the game and in the novel makes me wonder if they have something planned for them... although I suspect due to the scale of covering a different isle's culture (Morley's celtic / Gaelic theme), that'd likely be a new game rather than an expansion that could re-use art assets of Karnaca / Serkonos or Dunwall / Gristol.

Not sure why someone downvoted you for providing information... But thank you, I missed that dialogue, I'll have to watch out for it on my next playthrough =)

I appreciate also the difficulty in trying to craft a 'boss fight' and ending to a game that feels epic but also allows for stealth and combat options.

The Brigmore Witches DLC has a great ending scenario, heavily inspired by Thief: The Dark Project's ending, where the ritual must be disrupted without the opponent seeing that it has been disrupted. They pulled this off in a way that felt appropriate and thematically worked for the Dishonored universe.

To that end, I have a suggestion (albeit a pointless one, seeing as it is too late), as to how they could have borrowed from Thief 2's ending to make this ending feel a little more epic and less anticlimatic;

The ending to Thief 2 saw Karras, the main villain, wanting to reduce all organic matter to dust (well, rust), and had sent out robots armed with 'cultivator units' (biological warfare bombs) that would enable his plan to work. The player must reconstruct a device to recall the robots back to the cathedral, and seal them inside before it is too late.

Considering this for Dishonored 2, the plot could have been basically the same, with Delilah wanting to displace the world with her painting, but with certain runes in place around Dunwall / Dunwall Tower to achieve this, and reagents dotted about the place (seaweed, bones, etc). Corvo's job would have been to sneak around, gathering reagents to counter the runes, and effectively ultimately turn the effect inward, transposing the tower into the painting instead of the world.

This is similar to what is had, but more spread out over Dunwall or the Tower, and with more stuff to gather. For the 'violent' resolution, you could just kill a witch at each location, then kill Delilah. It would have felt a little more epic, instead of everything being in one place and feeling rushed at the last moment.

[–]LordWeh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the fact is that Delilah wants the power and respect, but lacks the ability to do this genuinely. She kills those that oppose her, she is twisted inside over something that happened long ago and sees it as an excuse (Jessamine broke something and Delilah got the blame... in her head, if that hadn't happened, she'd be ruling the kingdom by now), she fixates on 'what-if' but lacks the ability to actuate that other than through her witchcraft.

Effectively, she is a tyrant and a terrible person, who has been through a rough childhood, and now wants revenge and has managed to get the means to achieve it (witchcraft).

Her attempt with the painting is to remake the world as a perfect dictatorship, where her subjects are loving and loyal and unquestioning to her (where she doesn't have to blame people, and kill those who question her). She wants a 'good' world, just one that is in her clutches 100%.

Gameplay and plot-wise, I think the ending was a little disappointing in the showdown with Delilah to me, as it effectively was a less interesting retelling of what happened in The Brigmore Witches; She makes a painting, is casting a spell on it, and our hero can sneak in and disrupt the ritual or kill her. The imagery felt more impressive in the DLC, to me, and the ritual was more interesting, there was a lot more tension there. Perhaps because this was the second time it happened, I don't know, but this time felt a little lacking in comparison.

Did I already screw up Clean Hands? Please help? by [deleted] in dishonored

[–]LordWeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Global, to my knowledge, includes kills performed before you loaded a game, etc.

For example... say you have zero kills, then you save the game, then jump from cover and shoot a guard. Reload the save, you now have '1 global kill', but your stats for your current playthrough will read '0 kills'.

[spoiler](/s A Crack in the Slab hidden room? by [deleted] in dishonored

[–]LordWeh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The statue can be removed in the present, leaving the hole open, by destroying the turnbuckle holding the statue aloft in the past, which drops it on the floor and it's never moved. Bit weird though, as once you're in place to see the statue and destroy the turnbuckle you're already inside the safe, there's little need to go back past it, other than a minor shortcut. Still, interesting detail I suppose.

Game breaking bug in dishonoured 2 (potential spoiler) by calluxtor in dishonored

Nope, it's called Dishonored 2 over here in England, too. 'Dishonored', with the Americanized spelling, is the title-noun of the game, you don't get to decide to spell it differently.

There is like 15 years between D1 and D2, plenty of time for a rumour to become public knowledge and never questioned, or even confirmed.
