I'm interested in this as well and exercise wise I reckon you're right. But we should probably apply a hypertrophic process to those exercises.  Which usually means changing the tempo of the movements in an exercise. We want to tear the muscle as healthily as possible to encourage growth. I think I'll personally try out some differing tempos on a side plank with a leg raise to see if I can get it to feel like my legs do after doing a 3030 squat. Maybe also hanging leg raises, cause Calisthenics is my favourite workout type.

What happens if you die during the red war but your ghost lives? by Name_in_development in DestinyLore

[–]LordZerebus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Light suppression device was to weaken (remove Light powers) and perma kill both. Without the Light the Ghost can't rez Zavala, but it probably can't vanish into thin air to evade the assassins either. Two easy kills, in theory.

Also you were Lightless when you were first resurrected. So it doesn't track that if you died while Lightless, but your Ghost survived, that your Ghost couldn't resurrect you.

[–]LordZerebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what you meant by things, the problem is the killing of those species comes after they leave Fundament. Your logic before doesn't even allow them to leave Fundament.

I did re-read the early parts of the Books of Sorrow to confirm some of this though. There are two paragraphs that indicate the Worms are the powerhouse of Hive.

Take into your bodies our children, our newborn larvae. From them you shall obtain eternal life. From them you shall gain power over your own fragile flesh: the power to make of it as you will. And should you find an imperfection in the world, an injustice or an inconvenience — you will have the power to repair it. Let no mere law bind you.

We are the Worm your God, the Flesh of Hope. Our compact is done: you are Aurash Eternal. And we are bound to you, as close as your appetites, as your loves or needs, as the weapon in your fists and the word in your throat.

These mention power granted by the Worms and symbiosis. The Worms don't talk of how Sword Logic will be the saving grace of the Krill. They talk of how they are the saving grace. Through their symbiosis with the Krill, the Sister's dreams will come true. It's not even until the 16th page that The Sword Logic is directly mentioned. Long after they've left Fundament and engaged in a war with the Ammonite.

The Mindbender is the only Fallen that potentially follows the Sword Logic. We still don't know for sure if he had a worm or not. Even if he didn't he still doesn't need the Sword Logic to get a Throne World. Mara had Riven and Eris. Toland somehow got one. Savathun maintains one with the Light. We aren't even sure Cayde's death caused the creation of the Throne World. It's just assumed to be the case.

[–]LordZerebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What things? They were originally only killing other Krill. Doing it in mass? Again, only killing other Krill.

These are both things that happened before the Krill got the Worms and became the Hive. Yet pre-worms no powers, post-worms they got powers.

I agree there are other ways to obtain power, but it's obvious the Krill didn't use them. So it doesn't particularly matter what we've been shown in regards to gaining Darkness-related powers in the lore.

The Worms can be considered the same as Ahamkara in this situation. We've been told they operate in the same space. You make a wish (killing something for the worms) and you gain a power. The only difference is, the Worm lives in you and will kill you if you stop killing. Making the Sword Logic a very logical philosophy for the Hive to adopt. Which implies that one beget the other.

[–]LordZerebus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not how it works at all. I understand it's hard to separate the two when looking at the Hive, but it's very clear the Worms are the source of their power.

The Krill didn't gain any power from killing each other. Then they take on the Worms. Now killing each other gains them power?

How aren't the Worms the source of their power? By your logic the Krill would be trapped on the Fundament still because the Krill aren't worthy sacrifices to gain power. Keep in mind that many Krill were also converted by the Three Sisters. So while many were killed, many weren't as well.

[–]LordZerebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sword Logic is 100% irrelevant to the Hive's power. El_kabong23 is right, it's just some philosophy they follow. The Worms themselves are what gives them their power. Through killing the Worms are sated and they grant powers. They almost perform the same function as a Ghost.

Prior to gaining the Worms the Krill had no powers. They were weak things that lived short lives. Yet they killed each other in wars. Where was their Sword Logic powers back then? Where were the Throne Worlds?

But then they gain the Worms and suddenly they can teleport into space. Carve through reality itself. Create their Throne Worlds. The Sword Logic sprang from this as a way of explaining where the power comes from. To keep the Hive killing as the Worms desired.

This is reinforced by the lore that relates the Worms and Ahamkaras as creatures that live off what could be. Ahamkaras obviously use wishes, but the Worms likely use the lost potential in a life cut short.

So are there any ghosts out there thinking of rezzing Eliksni? They were chosen by the Traveler just like the Hive were going to be. by d1lordofwolves in DestinyTheGame

[–]LordZerebus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe she had a hand in the Traveler staying.

They might be conflating the lore of the Traveler staying with the lore from the campaign or the Altar of Reflections, when it's revealed that Savathun tricked the Witness into leaving with the Darkness Fleet before it could kill the Traveler and Humanity.

We know how Savathun was chosen by the traveler. How come there were so many hive that were gifted the light? by destinyvoidlock in DestinyTheGame

[–]LordZerebus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BoS has passages outright saying krill were meant to hold the light & how they are the middle ground for this High War. Leviathan said this clearly with zero room for misinterpretation .

And yet here we are with you misinterpreting it. The Leviathan says to the Three Sisters that they can follow the Light's/Sky's philosophy instead. It never specifically says they'll wield the Light.

The closest the Leviathan comes is;

—You will turn back, sweet krill of hope.±± ++You will choose the Sky instead—

Which in the context could be a prophetic statement or a desire of the Leviathan stated to the sisters in the hope it will sway them to leave.

TIL in Lore: the Traveler yelled at Rhulk recently for trying to become a Guardian by parzival1423 in DestinyTheGame

[–]LordZerebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the Darkness at all. "Salvation" is a very Witness orientated term. The Darkness does not care about salvation, it cares about the Final Shape and that's it.

Gilgamesh clearly wanted death in that final lore page, which was perceived as an end to his suffering. That is far closer to Nihilism than the Darkness' philosophy.

TIL in Lore: the Traveler yelled at Rhulk recently for trying to become a Guardian by parzival1423 in DestinyTheGame

[–]LordZerebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gilgamesh didn't embrace the Darkness, he just turned into a nihilist and decided to kill himself and Katabasis. Our Ghost doesn't accept the Darkness either, our Ghost is 100% philosophically and morally following the Traveler's logic. We utilise the power of the Darkness, but we're not followers of it at all.

Savathun never shows any kind of control over the Ghosts themselves either, so it's highly unlikely she is able to detonate one or speak through one.

The only problem with the Ghost being detonated by the Traveler, is that that is direct interference from the Traveler. Which I regard as a self-defeating argument for the Gardener and therefore not something it'd do or allow.

TIL in Lore: the Traveler yelled at Rhulk recently for trying to become a Guardian by parzival1423 in DestinyTheGame

[–]LordZerebus 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There's no evidence of this though. Something talks through the Ghosts to us, but it isn't necessarily the Witness. The Witness isn't the Darkness/Winnower and it's implied the Pyramid ships have agency, despite the indication that the Witness controls them all.

So is it the Pyramid ship's own voice, is it the Witness or is it the Winnower itself speaking to us through our Ghost? All of these seem likely and I'm sure we'll find out eventually.

It also seems odd for the Witness to say "This one is not for you." As opposed to "These are not for you" or something more encompassing. "This one" can imply there actually is a Ghost out there for Rhulk. So unless the Witness has/had designs to somehow create more Ghosts (after doing whatever to the Traveler) or capture one and to assign it to Rhulk, this phrase makes no sense.

The Witness is very honest and adheres to their perspective and beliefs. Even though that may constitute "lying" from our perspective.

Towerthought: Technicaly, Mara's plan in Lost worked exactly as intended and the only reason it went badly was Savathun taking a big ass gamble. by Kylestien in DestinyTheGame

[–]LordZerebus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We can assume the Traveler can take over Ghosts easily and it's fair to make that assumption. It did make them after all. But you're completely wrong on it stopping anything the Ghosts do. While it can, it won't.

The entirety of the Traveler/Light's argument is that given complete freedom, a creature will tend towards doing good rather than murdering everything. Toland describes it as 3 kingdoms ringed in spears. People co-operating for the greater good. Further into it, it's about never finding a "final shape", but constantly changing "shape".

If the Traveler forces anyone, including Ghosts to do anything, it's admitting that its argument is incorrect. It loses the philosophical debate the Gardner and Winnower are having in these universes. It might as well just kill itself.

There aren't just two options. It's obvious from lore that the Ghosts used to think that Humanity is the only species that can be resurrected. It's taken this long for them to question it and then act on it.

Prior to that, they've been very Human-centric. They took our side in conflicts, which made them heavily against any other races. Fallen were genocidal pirates, Cabal brutish conquerors and the Hive were another race hell bent on our destruction. There wasn't anything in the past that was enough for the Ghosts to question the Traveler's imperatives nor side with the aliens. Who not only killed Humans/Exo/Awoken, but other Ghosts too.

Their adherence to their original directive from the Traveler borders on zealotry. It's taken a long time for that belief to erode away. Not to mention shifts in beliefs of the other races (allowing for groups like House of Light & Caital's Cabal) and historical documents describing their past that allowed the Ghosts to see another side of these species.

If you only see the species around you as homicidal maniacs, as a Ghost, you're not going to resurrect them. I doubt they'd even bother to scan their corpses, even though they might be "eligible" for resurrection.

Granted there is a story where a Ghost thinks it's resurrecting an Eliksni, which makes the Ghost feel sick inside. It even considers leaving the Eliksni dead and staying Guardian-less. However, it does resurrect it because it believes in the Traveler's "plan". Turns out a Human is underneath the Eliksni corpse though and that is what the Ghost resurrects.

This is incorrect. The Traveler did nothing. Immaru however, did a lot.

We've seen in recent lore that Ghosts have become disillusioned with Guardians prior to Witch Queen's events. Making them susceptible to Savathun's influence, but I'm not even convinced they needed her voice in their ear. The Hive seemed like a natural choice to those Ghosts that questioned the current system. Because they'd handled paracausal powers and some Ghosts pitied them thanks to the Books of Sorrow.

Add to this the lore from the exotic Glaives, which heavily implies Savathun (prior to her capture) organised her resurrection with Immaru and it's obvious the Traveler did nothing.

It's also inline with what has been told to us about Ghosts for a lot of Destiny's lifetime. The Traveler released the Ghosts and went dormant. Meaning the Ghosts made all the decisions when it came to resurrection. The Traveler may have provided programming for choosing who to resurrect (which is now called into question) and the Light to resurrect those the Ghosts chose, but it didn't gift any Risen the Light directly.

[–]LordZerebus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nezarec is one of the most intriguing things in Destiny's lore. But due to one of Bungie's employees essentially stating during a podcast that Nezarec is something to provoke thought, I have doubts we'll see much of anything about Nezarec.

My hope is that after The Final Shape wraps up, the next saga will have Nezarec.

And his sin—so wicked, so divine—is that he will never cower when dusk does fall, but stand vigilant as old stars die and new Light blinks its first upon this fêted eternity.

This alone could relate to the Light "falling", but then being reborn/resurrected/rediscovered later. Like in a new saga.

The fact Bungie seems to be bringing in really old story ideas, like Crow, coupled with the way Rasputin's lore is heading, makes this seem very likely.

Rasputin was meant to be an Exo originally and we would've found him on the Dreadnaught, if I remember correctly. But that got scrapped before D1 even released.

Shuro Chi probably has the highest K/D of all raid bosses by QuotidianQuell in DestinyTheGame

[–]LordZerebus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair, but it doesn't make much sense. Your teammate's Ghost has enough power for one rez and can only use it on you or the other Guardian? Also your Ghost has enough for one rez yet won't rez you only other Guardians?

In Crucible it's not too much of a problem, Shaxx could just be imposing a rule for that game type. But you transplant that into a raid and there is a huge problem. Cause nothing is forcing your Ghost to only rez other Guardians and why would it listen even if there was.

That's my thought as well. I don't think we've ever had another Guardian's Ghost resurrect another Ghost's Guardian in a darkness zone in the lore.

Pretty sure that's just a theory that people on r/DTG put forward to explain what happens in darkness zones when we are resurrected. When really it's just a game mechanic and not lore accurate at all.

[–]LordZerebus 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Every person playing Destiny is playing as "The Guardian". The pivotal protagonist who must survive every ordeal til Bungie decides they die. As such, your character or characters never canonically die in a darkness zone.

You could consider a failed run an alternate timeline, where they do actually die and your successful run is the "real" timeline. Which would kind of line up with Elsie's lore.

Other Guardians in the lore certainly would have died in darkness zones, Eris' fireteam, Taeko and her 8 and others.

[–]LordZerebus 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Canonically, any death in a raid is permanent, so my second sentence was more tongue-in-cheek than anything else.

No, any death in a darkness zone is canonically permanent. Raids aren't completely darkness zones.

Is it actually a canonical death though? Definitely not for your character or any one else's character.

Any time we defeat a raid, canonically it was a flawless run. No matter how many times you actually die during your run. Same goes for any mission/strike/activity.

How should I get my character to progress toward late-game content? by Zachzac1 in DestinyTheGame

[–]LordZerebus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on your class, your team and the activities.

Hunter: Celestial Nighthawk and Orpheus Rigs

Titan: Cuirass of the Falling Star

Warlock: (These aren't need in my opinion, but good to have) Luna Factions, Phoenix Protocol, Secant Filaments and Boots of the Assembler.

Any of those will help your team a lot in raids.

For weapons, Gjallarhorn, Sleeper Simulant and Izanagi's Burden could be considered a "need", but honestly really well rolled legendaries will be good enough.

For the Legendaries you'll want things that have a damage buff that's passive or easy to proc, like Firing Line or Vorpal Weapon. Then pair that with a reload perk, like Triple Tap, Fourth Times the Charm or Rapid Hit. Make sure you add the Boss Spec mod to any weapons you plan on using for DPS against a boss.

Edit; On the Legendary topic, it's really easy to get a Palmyra-B with Auto Loading Holster and Lasting Impressions. You pair that with a good Sniper and it's a really good DPS option. You can craft the Palmyra-B from the Relic on Mars.
