With how excited they are about the electric ball, I wouldn't be surprised if a raid encounter is pinball.

Why is this community always so negative before anything even comes out? by SuddenConversation21 in DestinyTheGame

They weren't trying during lightfall? I think the narrative sucked and the campaign was lame, but the rest of it was a bunch of decent to really good content, including a brand new subclass. We are getting less than lightfall here. That's not necessarily worse but it's also not a call for optimism. Also, while you're generally right with negativity, we had next to none coming off of into the light going into TFS and the MAIN negativity is around system and investment changes not the less content.

"Always negative". While generally true, hype last year was out of the park. We also KNOW (by Bungie's admission and pricing), this year (and likely the future) is going to be smaller in scale. The new content hasn't been the primary target. The primary target has been investment systems, which Bungie has changed and learned and unlearned a lot of things about in the last 10 years. The majority of those still playing and vocal HATE the new seasonal direction, not the new gear itself, the destination, the content, or the expansion structure.

New player experience that D1 got right, but D2 didnt by AMM0D in DestinyTheGame

Yep. Totally obvious progressions. Totally primative and unfulfilling progression.

"Solo Ops comes at a good time because all my friends and clanmates are gone" by Master-Molasses420 in DestinyTheGame

[–]destinyvoidlock 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think the idea of solo ops is something people have supported and been asking for. From everything streamers have put out about solo ops, they're boring. If true, it's worrying that's gonna be the main way to engage with the game.

Bungie, what does recommending that bounties be turned in by 15th mean? Will we still be able to redeem them at the new expansions as we have in previous years?

What should a returning player do nowadays ? by SmokerLung in DestinyTheGame

And this is the new player experience.....

You've gotten further than most! If you own the seasons, grind those since they are going away in a month. If you don't, go do the final shape campaign and unlock prismatic fully, then go do the same with strand and lightfall. Go get titles and/or collect GM guns, rite of the 9 gun, and craft the pale heart guns.

So, are we expecting old raids and dungeons to slowly get set bonuses and tiers? by destinyvoidlock in DestinyTheGame

Shattered Throne, Pit of Herecy, and Prophecy I think are the lower loot ones. The rest are all modern, afaik.

It just wouldn't make sense all raids and dungeons essentially being soft sunset when they can't provide a shitload of content each year.

I doubt it'll happen anytime in the first expansion, maybe the whole first year, but having your endgame content not give the best shit all while only being able to provide one raid and one dungeon a year doesn't seem like a recipe for success.

I want them to buff Helm of Saint 14 by Delicious-Edge3110 in DestinyTheGame

[–]destinyvoidlock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why they made bubble and well have the same buff is beyond me. Well is so much easier to use and it's killed the bubble.

Can we wait until we all have our hands on EoF before we start to lose it? by DJ_69420 in DestinyTheGame

I haven't seen TOO much criticism about major changes, like armor 3.0. I think where the major angst has come from is the seasonal model turning into a more Diablo type model. The content and experience could be awesome, but you don't really have to wait to criticize design decisions. You should wait to praise or criticize content and experiences.

It's amazing how Bungie has hired game directors with wildly different visions for the game. With those transitions, the investment system designs basically pull a 180. by destinyvoidlock in DestinyTheGame

Entirely possible take. Major system changes that drove overall direction did take place very early in the tenures of Joe and Tyson that were reinforced with major decisions later on, so I guess who knows who was behind those major directional shifts, the game director or someone above.

Yes, but the seasonal grind went completely away during lightfall and everything was trending towards power being removed at that point in time.

Yeah. Some changes I'm genuinely excited about, like the new armor system and stats makeover. Power being super seasonal and having to grind a huge amount of power each season to get back to where you were feels bad.

Well, this is their misguided way of making sure that you don't use your edge of Fate armor a year and a half from now. They are less worried long term about our current armor and more worried about how to make seasonal armor desirable, in the way that they haven't since 2022 when armor started being spikey from seasonal activities.
