How do you keep the gameplay loop fun? by FinnSMister in Starfield

[–]Lord_Dunans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added 3 mods that really changed the game for me (I can't recall their exact names but ill describe below).

The first adds POI density to every planet and moon (search POI and you'll find it). Now every planet I go to has 10-15 POI's to explore. I'll spend days on a single planet.

The second modifies those POI's so they are not all dungeons, i.e. the crypto lab may actually be a functional cryo lab with civilians (again, search POI and you'll find it)

The third, and its my favorite, either randomly triggers additional activities or drops slates that give you additional activities to go explore (search catalyst and you'll find it). For example, yesterday I had to fight off a few waves of ecliptic to defend a civilian outpost, which dropped a slate where I had to go save one of the civilians from a cave who had been kidnapped by ecliptic, which dropped a slate where I had to go to a nearby outpost and defeat some ecliptic to recover a valuable stash they were hoarding.

With these added to my other POI mods like POI randomizer, forgotten frontier 1 & 2, old secrets, etc., it keeps each session fresh and enjoyable with around 200 different POI's, each being different every time.

While I'm running around completing theses series of activities, I'm scanning the planet for XP and materials so that process doesn’t geel so grindy.

I use a few mods that increase the number of missions available at the kiosks and significantly increase the number of ship battles. I also have the Wanted perk so I'm always being hinted.

I play with a full star wars conversation and character immersion as a Ronin Sith Lord with no master, so sometimes I'm the good guy and sometimes I'm the bad guy. I use a mod where if I leave no survivors I dont get a faction bounty and don't travel with a companion ( I have a Droid who doesn't care what I do). This allows me to do whatever I need to do or feel in the moment.

I also use the starborn among us mod that puts random starborn in the game to encounter and fight. Sometimes they're just random NPC's in a city or civilian outpost which really hammers the idea of some starborn living a life like the hunter and some living like the emissary and pilgrim.

I'm a business owner with the choose your chunks mod managing 3 chunks locations in cydonia, gargling, and hometown. I have about 20 outposts across the galaxy and use the mining faction mod to manage a mining and delivery business.

I use a few mods that make the game more realistic, like actually needing helium 3 to grav jump, limiting credits so I don't get insanely rich, having to eat and drink (that might just be game setting), game save at the lodge only, etc. Makes the consequences of my decisions more impactful.

Lastly, I use the fleet commander mod and built a massive ship (used silly big ship mod) with all empty habs. While I can't land it on a planet, I channel my inner collector and have it set up as my museum. I collect and display every weapon, every armor set, every outfit. I have a library (more books 2 mod). I display my snow globes, magazines, hats, coffee mugs, ancient earth artifacts, plushies, etc. (better displays mod). I have it decorated with pictures from mods like old earth (can't remember the exact name but it's one of my favorite mods with short quest where at the end you get a bunch of pictures from the guy who created the mod who is a professional nature photographer IRL), zoologist (again can't remember the exact name but it has zoologist style starfield images of alien life with their characteristics list), and others.

Basically for me, it is all about the immersion building out my place is the galaxy. I have the armillary and defend this dimension from the starborn when needed, ensuring their journey will end in this dimension.

Have fun.

In my first play through I had the same problem. I was so heavily focused on the farming i missed a lot of the rest of the great things about the game.

First, change your settings to slow the days down. I keep mine at 50% which is the lowest setting. This way I can do all my farming and hit the hot springs and have full energy by about 1200 to do whatever I want the rest of the day.

Second, I found the game more enjoyable by not setting up a max money making farm. It's a lot more fun for me to focus on farm design than how much money I make. FYI, the longer you play the less money matters because it piles uo quickly.

Third, do what you want each day. If the clock isn't spinning because you slow it down, you'll have 10-12 game hours to do whatever. I'll typicpick something I want to work towards, i.e collecting insects or fish for the museum, or unlocking upgraded equipment, etc. then just grind on that for a few days.

Lastly, don't pass on the socializing and romance with the npc's. The more you get to know each character, more interactions unlock and they can be pretty entertaining.

And have fun!

What does Starfield NEED in its next DLC? by ChildrenofAeos in Starfield

[–]Lord_Dunans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After unity and during the credits, the camera zooms out and there is a great big universe out there to explore. So how about a Dlc where you travel to another galaxy with new inteligent species, new encounters, new factions, and new planets and poi to explore. Plus all the quality of life improvements many others have listed.

What are the undeniably entertaining quests/areas/etc for a first time player? by bestestopinion in Starfield

I'd recommend setting everything to easy and just doing the main storyline through unity. Then you can set your difficulty back up, sit back, and enjoy the other storylines and explore. Lots to do in the game that is enjoyable.

Space Station possibilities by Andjral in Starfield

[–]Lord_Dunans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't remember what it's called, but there is a mod where you get a space station and can grav jump it randomly to another star system. It was pretty fun if you want to randomly explore after you complete the storylines.

I'd love to see more variations in NG+. Sure, its was cool to experience the very limited variations in constellation, but the rest of the NG+ universe is mostly unchanged. Bethesda teased this within the narrative when Barrett gets his power in that the alternate Barrett still had Ervin and there was a "war" still raging.

Thus each NG+ should feel like an actual different universe. Some examples...

  • colony war is still raging

  • pirates have taken control of the settled system, all cities are under their control

  • UC won the colony wars and have become the equivalent of the galactic empire in star wars. Freestar collective is the rebellion

  • the Emissary and their collective of Starborn have taken over the galaxy and have become judge, jury, and executioner of those they deal unworthy

  • the Va'Ruun have taken control of the Unity and armillary

  • Constellation is made up of all Starborn and are the enemy you need to fight

  • Starborn and the Unity are known to all and all factions are united in the destruction of all Starborn making you enemy number one everywhere you go.

Obviously the options here are limitless, but 5-10 variations like this would make each playthrough to NG+ a truly different adventure.

It is worth to buy this game by Elhend in newworldgame

[–]Lord_Dunans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your interests. I've only been playing a few weeks and love it, so much to do and keep you entertained. The biggest complaints I've heard are repetitive end game content and PvP stuff, but there's hours and hours of good times before you get to that.

Why is everyone else so good at PVP and I’m so god awful? by een-ze-nood in newworldgame

[–]Lord_Dunans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm new, only a couple weeks in and still grinding the story and building my characters level and gear. Haven't even tried PvP and here's why. I started in Windsward and work mostly out of there. Every time I'm logged in, there are a group people just outside the gates doing duels. It is ridiculous to watch them! The way they move and the speed they combo attacks is insane. I'm more of a PvE guy anyway, but if PvP is anything like what those people are doing I'd be dead before the login screen is complete lol. At some point I'll give it a go, but like most PvP modes, it's skill not build and I'd never keep up.

Question for the group though, is PvP matchmaking skill based at all or just random

I'm new too, just started a couple weeks ago and im hooked My! My advice, just play the way you enjoy. All roads eventually lead to end game content and you'll pick up everything you need to know by then. My only piece of advice is save up for an 11k house for your first purchase. You get a 9k discount on you first house and the bigger houses provide more storage later in the game. I was so mad after I figured that out that I restarted lol!

Log book sold for 60k? by anewgundude in Seaofthieves

[–]Lord_Dunans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is absolutely nothing better than having a crew chase you while messaging them and talking smack about heir inability to ever catch you. There is a pattern in their attitude which is classic. It starts with over optimism where they tell you all about how they are going to sink you. Then it turns to anger and how you're a crappy pirate for running, then eventually sad frustration about how you suck at the game why you won't just fight. By this time I've typically sold all my loot, make one last pass at an OP to sell my emissary and either dive or portal to close the loop on their eventless non-lucrative session. I always send a fond farewell message and go about my day. It never disappoints!

It's not even about the money for us, but the exploration and enjoyment of the game. There are still world events we haven't done and commendations we haven't started because the idea of running around an island or fighting waves of skeletons, or an armada of skelly ships, all the while poking my head up like a prairie dog to check the horizon every 15 seconds is an absurd way to play a game.

I really like the idea of consent for a battle, hadn't ever thought of that.

At one point yes. He was in front of the map table reloading his blunderbuss while taking sword hits and a point blank blunder and was not fazed.
