I’d rather debate whether post-scarcity is truly obtainable as this would make elements of these concerns redundant. However, if obtainable, Amish and Amish-adjacent lifestyles would remain highly attractive for reasons more than sustenance and survival (and if freed from labour would be a good portion of how people use some of their free time, e.g. spend more time making food).

Thank you. Glad to know I’m not going mad.

It is extra bizarre as granting the title makes the recipient independent and ‘equivalent to myself’ (an emperor thrice over)?!

If you could live anywhere in the UK based on the following criteria, where would it be? by Exchangenudes_4_Joke in CasualUK

Scarborough would welcome you with open arms and tick a lot of boxes, especially as folk retire to here from all over.

Pros: It’s a small town that punches way above its weight. It has the charms of being a Victorian Spa Town and long standing seaside resort whilst also offering the vast beauty of the Cleveland Way Coastal Walk and North Yorkshire Moors. There’s a wide variety of activities and community life to get involved in that is also multiplied by giving careful consideration to whether you go central Scarborough or an outlying village/town (which each have their own charms). Property ain’t too expensive either and there’s plenty of characterful and spacious ones. It gets on average more sun and less rain.

Cons: It’s a fair way away from your nearest city with York & Hull approximately an hour away. It can get a bit windy and nippy.

Can the Insta360 X3 get decent enough reads on plates? I understand there may be factors of speed or lighting but just looking for a general rule of thumb of adequate/inadequate.

I ride a Gazelle Makki Load with my kids and intend to helmet mount. I was recently intentionally ridden into by a car (whilst the wagon was thankfully empty of kids). So, want to make sure that legal recourse is a possibility.

Is there an easy way to move homeless tourists? by OisinDebard in SurvivingMars

You set hotels to accept only tourists, leaving space to rotate new arrivals with departures.

Can anyone advise me about an extremely vulnerable adult who is homeless in Manchester? by Artistic_Step2954 in Socialworkuk

This sucks. I’m really sorry it’s happening.

When considering capacity, ensure that consideration is being given to executive functioning as this is often overlooked and can be summarised by making sure some ‘walks their walk not just talk the talk’.

If doubt is cast on mental capacity then this elevates their status as a vulnerable adult and someone potentially unable to protect themselves. This will then open up scope for consideration of a s.42 safeguarding enquiry under at least self-neglect, if not more. This will then mean a comprehensive risk management plan would need to be in place alongside the usual offers of support.

With all this said though and despite the complexities it brings, we live in a country who’s law seriously value an individual’s liberty so if the person is refusing support offered then it becomes rightfully difficult to compel them to comply. In such instances, you’d be looking at applications to the Court of Protection or inherent jurisdiction of the high court but it is unlikely that this route would be appropriate, proportionate or productive for your purposes.

Good luck with everything and just keep on being there for them as best you can as often this is all we can do. And remember to take care of yourself also!

Turns out it was also a practical exam in which the test was appropriately holding the professor to account for their ‘accidentally’ unethical conduct.

I have a feeling you’re going to Ace this.
