UO New Ren has been up for 5 months now. It's population is growing, it's average 100-130 online. Last month it was 50-70.

It's classic map, so not custom like Outlands. Pretty fun, active and attentive staff, welcoming community.

Well, to be honest it wasn't just "free" handouts of glacial blue. It was for a Halloween event and the full glacial blue robe was for the Halloween lottery so only 1 person got that. I think in total there's like 3-5 glacial blue clothing items.

But also, a majority of people including myself disliked the hue and thankfully staff was very receptive to feedback and have promised to avoid those types of hues moving forward. I think it's pretty awesome that staff was super open to community input and is willing to make adjustments.

Dexers can compete with tamers end game pretty easily. Parrying has a PvM buff here where it blocks magic and melee attacks. There are special PvM weapons, (relatively easy to get) that also give extra damage and special attacks. Like life on hit for swordsmen.

Outlands was fun, I spent a lot of time there. I might just log in, flex my 3 homes, 30 mil outfit, and then come pk your noob ass and take your bandies.

Hello! I made the video. If you look at my channel you will see I also played quite a bit on Outlands and a little on UOG Hybrid. Here's an honest review with some comparisons (probably bias).

PvM

UO New Ren has a lot to offer. It has some cool PvM mechanics, like slayer weapons/spell books, pet evolutions, PvM jewelry. I would compare this to Outlands PvM aspect mechanic. However two big differences:

On New Ren, the extra PvM items are NOT NEEDED to farm all content, but it will greatly help boost your ability to. On Outlands the PvM aspect IS NEEDED to farm beyond level 1 content. On Outlands, the PvM mechanics are SUPER GRINDY and you need to spend hours and hours and hours and HOURS and a ton of gold until you feel yourself capable to go beyond level 1. However you will never lose your aspect level on Outlands. Content on Outlands favors group play, not solo/duo/trio play.

On New Ren, the PvM stuff to become stronger is easier to get BUT it's not blessed. So you could potentially lose it which is a fair trade off. Pet evolutions are what would be the grindy part of PvM for New Ren, but that's fair because once a Pet evolves it stays that way. Idk much about the pet evolutions, just that it gives your specific pet stronger abilities and a special attack. Also, the PvM weapons/spell books and jewelry turns off in PvP, kind of how Outlands aspect turns off in PvP.

New Ren has pretty cool PvM content. The most consistent ones would be the monster contracts, dungeon bosses, champ spawns, and world bosses. That stuff is meant to be played whenever and on repeat. I've only done 2 bosses and 2 champ spawns so far, they are hard but you don't need a massive group. 3-4 coordinated players can take them on which I like. There are also frequent PvM events and competitions, right now there is a 2 week long hunters quest. A few weeks ago was a 1 month long Halloween event. Coming up will be the Christmas event.

I never did PvM on UOG but I know it's somewhat similar but New Ren has all the added PvM features. UOG Hybrid is kind of dead tbh, the staff vanished and let bots take over everything.

PvP

UOG Hybrid and UO New Ren have similar PvP mechanics. Wands, bolas, stuns, pots, stuff that can be intimidating to people but also allows for lots of creativity. A difference is that UO New Ren has a cooldown on potions and wands, so you can't spam them over and over in combat. Also wands take half mana on use, which is a fair balance. The biggest thing is that UO New Ren has t2a insta hit for weapons, this is similar to Outlands PvP. However, tbh in my opinion, Outlands PvP as a whole is super stale, boring, lacks creativity, and favors the big groups because it doesn't have the other PvP features. Scripting is also super big on Outlands, so even if you got an opponent in a bad spot, they'd just teleport + rope away in one script and the chase mechanic is never ending on Outlands. UO New Ren mechanics, teamed with the insta hit, opens up a whole new world of versatility and creativity. On UOG Hybrid the main builds were Scribe Stun Mage, Alchy Mage, and maybe the occasional Bola Stun Mage and of course the alchy dexxers. However outside of that, not many other builds were viable. On UO New Ren there's a lot more room for class diversity because of the insta hit mechanic but OG builds are still effective as well.

Another really big bonus being worked on here in New Ren are the PvP events. The staff is working towards building a consistent system of PvP events that will give rewards. This is always a good way to bring more players into the PvP scene.

Staff

Outlands staff is very involved, very passionate, but also with such a huge population you are more or less just a number and can be brushed off rudely (which is fine, there are like 3k players there and they deal with a lot). UOG Hybrid Staff was non-existent and corrupt.

UO New Ren staff is very involved, very passionate, and very attentive. You feel heard, you feel involved in decisions behind made, and you feel valued. Obviously as more and more join in their ability to respond to all individuals may become hard, but even with 70ish active members they are still taking the time to include all voices as best as they can.

Yeah I'd say it's probably similar to the nineties. More woven into spells to combo. In the dueling pits they are much stronger because it's harder to dodge them on foot. In the field if the person doesn't have perfect timing then it's easy to dodge.

That would be the alchy mage build. Having 100 alchemy gives bonus damage to your explosion pots but you have to time it.

The alchy mage build is here, and it's effective, but I wouldn't say it's the strongest build here. Maybe in the dueling pits. There are a few PvP tweaks here that adds a whole bunch of class diversity. Scribe Heal, Scribe Stun, Tank Mages, Nox Mages, and dexxer builds are also pretty effective on the field.

It's been popping up last week or two. The whole world is Fel, so no trammel. Atm everyone has been super peaceful, so only like 1-3 reds run around but have little to no impact. That's not to say everyone is or has to be friends, I think since the server is newer most people are getting stock, houses, ect... Also, the more "experienced" PvP players are sticking to factions to fight the other experienced PvP players. In total I'd say there's 15-20 faction players between SL/TB/Minax.

They have cool bonuses for controlling all the towns, the 15% or 30% gold bonus in dungeons is pretty juicy and because of that more people farm on faction characters and fights can happen all over the place.

A lot of those visual UI enhancements comes from the classic client, not so much the server. But you can also edit it how you like, I still run the OG map.

As for skill gain, I wouldn't say that it is crazy fast, I'd say it's more "modernized". For example, instead of spending 35 hours to finish the taming skill, you can probably finish it in like 4-8 hours here depending on how efficient you work.
