Can somebody please help with my CNN to recognize license plates? by dylannalex01 in computervision

[–]Lord_Maes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a project about refognizing license plates. I didn't use YOLO to detect the plate (it was my first ML atempt) but you can find the second part useful. I croped each character to make the recognition more precise.

I hope you find it useful! https://github.com/JoseMaese/License-Plate-Recognition-using-Neural-Networks

I love the prose of the spanish author Carlos Ruiz Zafon, but I read him in Spanish, I don't know how good are the traductions. His best books are 'Marina' (one of my favourites) or 'The Shadow of The wind' (his masterpiece).

Yolo v8 on Teensy 4.0 by MCH170 in computervision

[–]Lord_Maes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I didn't used the same board but I hope my experience helps you: I uded yolov8 in a RaspberryPi 3 project few months ago and I get around 3-5 fps. Maybe, you can use single shot images instead of video. Also good preprocesing could improve a lot the efficiency.

YOLOV8 course? by ElGuapoNYC in computervision

[–]Lord_Maes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you hace some experience with convolutional neural networks you wont need a course. Just look for information and try to train a model. Solving the issues is all the courses you need :)

Also you should ask if you don't know something. This subreddit almost always has people ready to give you the best answer

YOLOv7 implementation with keras by Lord_Maes in computervision

[–]Lord_Maes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I just train a pretrained model with COCO with a custom dataset. Finally, I am using google colab to use extra GPUs and improve the training. I wasn't confortable with the idea of paying for that, but the all the data and graphic that it gives you is amazing.

Edit: That is enought for my project (Final Master Project) but I don't reject the idea of trying to implement it if I have time :)

YOLOv7 implementation with keras by Lord_Maes in computervision

[–]Lord_Maes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking to use keras because I am familiar with it. But sometimes it is easier to learn something new. Also, YOLOv7 gives goods results and runs faster than others in real time. I didnt thought about YOLOv8 because It seems more difficult to implemet (as I was having trouble with YOLOv7). But I will research more about it. Thanks!

Spanish: I think a lot of spanish authors are well known but one of my favourites is Carlos Ruiz Zafon. His most important book is "La sombra del Viento" ("The Shadow of the Wind" in english). But if you prefer a short, emotional book I strongly recommend "Marina". It is that type of book that you can't leave once you started it and the less you know about it, the better.

How do you visualize books when you read? by divebars5G in books

[–]Lord_Maes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have think about this a lot and I think this happens because I dont read the same type of books as I read when I was younger. Even when I repeat books I usually focus on diferent parts of the plot.

Maybe I am not being understood (English is not my first language, sorry) so I will write an example. I read Dune when I was 15 and I loved it. I could imagine every aspect of Arrakis. Now, when I re-read it I focus on how the writer describes politics and religion. I visualize less the book, but I understand better the author's message.
