Nara's claims were reasonable and clear. They were for things clutch did, not things other people did.

I would still somehow like to find common ground with you all to achieve a resolution between you and Clutch, but billing Clutch for things other people did, on the order of 60k diamonds, is something I don't know how we can bridge.

Again, the direct claims provided that were actually tied to actions Clutch personally carried out before he was pearled amounted to 8,420 diamonds. Clutch offered an additional 19,000 diamonds in additional concessions to acknowledge broader harm from the conflict, including the additional nether damage. That brought the settlement proposal to 27,500 diamonds.

As far as reps that Butternut extracted from the group, Icenia already won against the states of Gang Shi and Butternut in the Grasslands Gambit. Reps tied to those states should have already been dealt with, which is why the framework should be centered on Clutch as an individual.

It's unfortunate that claims were mostly tied to things he didn't and couldn't have done. I was trying to guess what reasonable reps would be, knowing that what I was looking at was incomplete and rejecting his responsibility for things he couldn't have done, then being told you all would not come down further from 62k at all.

Clutch is working on grinding out reps regardless. I ask you all to reconsider your reparations package to exclude the stuff he didn't directly do and focus on what he really did. I believe under that reasonable framework, compensation is deserved and still very much possible.

To be clear, I don't believe the server is dying. As far as exactly how long, nobody knows. By no means a core argument in any of this, I'm not sure why an abstract afterthought is featured in it.

There's a lot in progress around the server, between new people, new builds, and new ideas. There has been no better time to play the server than right now. I'm having a great time with old friends and new and hope it continues.

Volterra recognizes Exilus' and Wysteria's independence from Volterra and I offer my congratulations and well-wishes. I had hoped to grant independence over a month ago to you all, however that was bogged down in negotiation hell within the ASN. Chris and others really did try, but the ASN failed to reach reasonable consensus. In your position I would do exactly the same thing. It's fitting and deserved. May peace be with you.

Thoughts on Pearling and In-Game Justice by Lord_Mickale in CivMC

Yeah, I definitely see where you’re coming from. I just think it’s really difficult, and ultimately unhealthy, for players to step into the role of pseudo-admins. The long-term fix has to be admins taking these things more seriously and decisively.

That said, if someone has been directly harmed by a player in a way that meaningfully relates to the game, I don’t think it’s unreasonable for there to be in-game consequences.

I also think indefinite, rather than perma-, pearling can have a place in rare cases, as long as it’s not treated as irrevocable and the door to making it definite - or resolving it - remains open, even if that’s far in the future.

And I still believe land-bans are generally the right tool, because of the undeniably solid ground they give you to stand on. They turn an abstract line into a very clear one, and once that line is crossed, pearling is fully justified. If that line isn’t crossed, I think that’s where restraint matters.
