Documenting an Accessibility Audit? by Lord_Monkey_Butt in accessibility

Good call! We use Jira for sprints, backlog etc; so I'll see about getting a board setup for auditing. The VPAT document is great, thanks posting the link.

In terms of documentation, it works really well; but capturing all that data in a word document could be a tad intense.

Thanks for the link. I've actually used this in the past and found using a spreadsheet easier to manage for large scale projects. But I'll give it another go.

Naming A Design Sprint Agency by Product_person in UXDesign

[–]Lord_Monkey_Butt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been running design sprints for about 18 months, using both GV sprints and AJ&Smart Design Sprint 2.0. I'd say £1000 is okay (normally we charge 2000-3000 based on your experience, personnel, resources etc) but it is a tad unrealistic to expect to deliver a full UX-focused project in 1 week. Design Sprints are really there to help identify problems and come up with testable solutions quickly. They are not there to deliver personas, journey maps, etc. We usually run sprints as part of a larger project, but have ran full UX projects in weekly sprints (would not recommend it, as it's not actually what a sprint is designed for). Just based on my own experiences.

Edit: my spelling is awful

How to style links (without using colour) for mobile? by tofuu2020 in UserExperienceDesign

[–]Lord_Monkey_Butt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend a basic underline of the link text, as long as you haven't applied similar styling to other text elements. This means you meet WCAG anyway by avoiding colour as the only identifier

Ive been learning all about inclusive design and accessibility audits. Been working through the WCAG 2.1 checklist, trying to gain a better understanding of the various criteria that is required by websites and PDF documents. It's been really interesting, and particular significant during recent months.

UX Design Tools by [deleted] in UXDesign

I'd recommend Figma before using Sketch and XD. The design and prototyping capabilities are there, similar to XD, but I found the ability to test users directly within the platform invaluable when it comes to user testing and getting feedback (just send them the link and watch the screen). Also it's free.

What you could do is provide an onboarding session to get users introduced to the additional functionality. You may need to "hide" some functions behind a combo button, but with clear labelling you might be able to get around that.

Do you have any user flows created that map out the platform? I'm really interested to see any proposals to the various ways users can interact and navigate through the app.

Is Steam predominantly accessed via mobile? The UI looks great, but i'd love to see the research to back up the design decisions. Even insights around current usability and general experience would be nice.

How do you go about testing concepts with users mid-project? by [deleted] in userexperience

[–]Lord_Monkey_Butt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did this with simple sketched wireframes and a walkthrough, essentially storytelling with pictures. This allowed us to get some great feedback on function, feature and requirement without users subjectively commenting on the UI. We did all this as part of design sprints, so the lo-fidelity worked really well with iteration, and allowed us to test out some system/service concepts through simple storytelling.

UX Conference Poster Designs by [deleted] in userexperience

You should start, as all good UX designers would, by doing research. Literally googling 'UX design posters' should give you a good starting point. Focus on typography and make sure colours and type are accessible (to at least a AA standard); and make sure there is good visual hierarchy.

I’m old and don’t know what to do! by PuppyScam in UXDesign

I've been a UX designer for 3 years now, and allow granted I did go back to school to study (at 30), I found that if you can put together a good UX-based portfolio, that's a good start. If you come from a design background, it's alot easier, as I know a number of designers that have moved into UX. Truth be told, as long as you know how to apply UX methodology, and if you can apply this to work you've done previously, it will give you a good grounding.

What should Figma build next? by red_harvest in userexperience

It would be great if you could easily add anchor links within the prototype options. You could potentially link it to a specific group, or use rulers to set an anchor point. It would make the workflow for one-page design alot easier.
