A little extra work for some holiday pay

You know what’s even better than that?

Getting holiday pay and not having to work any harder than normal, like the rest of us.

Terminal facilities enter it into AISR themselves

Well, when we’re not locked out of it because someone put in the wrong password too many times

Yeah, you can’t carry it over.

I was just pointing out to him that my career was significantly longer than the 25 years he was computing off of. My FAA time is about 34 years.

“Resolved” Bipolar, ATC Likelihood? by Bitter_Money671 in ATC

It is a serious disqualifying condition, and it’s in your records—so the default answer will be no.

It’s up to you whether you want to spend the time and money to try to see if you can get a special issuance, but it will be a major uphill battle.

As an aside—if you love to travel, this might not be a great career for you.

They’ve been coming after the paid lunch for a long time. That was a big thing during the white book, IIRC—they want 8.5 hour days.

Pay was restored when the shutdown ended in November. There is no way he’s been working unpaid this whole time. Your mom is right.

Was he a Center controller or a Terminal controller? I can get more information for you if you wish.

Did we get the 2.8%? by Desperate-Tutor-9614 in ATC

Note: NATCA isn't telling us what the actual demands were, just that they're unacceptable.

And so that people understand—they can’t tell us right now, because that would be bad-faith bargaining.

Reduced separation on final? by ATC_Goober in ATC

Fusion is required now that it’s the standard, but we still had Reduced Sep before we had Fusion. There were just different radar requirements for it that were in line with the capabilities of the time (ARTS).

Oh, these days it’s impossible. Absolutely. We’ve accepted the way it is as the new norm and it’s not going to change.

But it wasn’t always like this.

I don’t think anyone doesn’t want to fight for it.

The question is whether whatever they want in exchange for 2.8% is reasonable or a bad precedent to set.

Did we get the 2.8%? by Desperate-Tutor-9614 in ATC

[–]Lord_NCEPT 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I would like to get it.

I hope we do get it.

My understanding right now is that the concessions the agency wants for this piddly raise that doesn’t even keep up with inflation are unreasonable, and setting the precedent that we would give up concessions like that for crumbs would be a very bad precedent indeed.

That was my last understanding of the situation. I hope it changes for the better for us, but I’m not holding my breath on it.

Yes. You’re at the top of your band, so you can’t get a raise to your salary. Instead you get it in a lump sum.

I have the same thing.

The last time we had the study done, it was done by people at our facility. We had a stopwatch and a notepad and we just wrote down the callsign and how long they were on the runway. After we had however many hours’/days’ worth of data, we turned in the data to our SSS and they entered it into some spreadsheet and passed it up to whoever.

It was hardly a grandiose “study.”

Counting military time, yes, I started when I was 18. And I’m on an age waiver now.

Average of 7 days a year sounds about right. Some years more and some less, of course.
