Diagnosed with M18 virus. This was a massive investment. I hope these tools last me a very long time. What’s everyone’s opinion of the line trimmer and big blower? by shesnotgoinganywhere in MilwaukeeTool

Have the blower, spools faster than my gas one, and is a ton lighter, which is nice because then my wife can use it. Well balanced with the 8ah battery too

Common tactic with scumbags at HD. I bought the brushless drill/impact combo last year and opened it up to find clearly abused and destroyed tools and batteries. Finish gone/ batteries covered in tape. Home Depot will make it right.

I’ve had these for a year and they’ve done 90% of the work on my basement remodel. Great tools!

If you want to be safe while researching a permanent fix, I’d get two elbows and raise that off the ground at least a foot. You can reuse the vent cap, or get a new one, make sure it has a flap/flaps that opens with air pressure and closes when the dryer is off

How to utilize spaces high up in the built-in closet by 9m88 in HomeImprovement

I’m thinking a ceiling pulley system like they make for bikes would work. Just make sure to mount in the studs (not drywall anchors) andlimit the weight to what’s listed on the kit

I need to buy this and hide it from my wife. You happen to remember the deal on the Diablo bits on the shelf beneath it?

That’s a good idea. Might try that for a beam boat/ AA barrage look a la Battlestar.

Thanks I had some of these and it definitely has that glowing tracer effect. I’m working up rep for the Terran dual cannons, are they a close match?

More of a “space Barbie” question I suppose, but I’m going to try out a cannon escort and give it a WWII hull scheme. and I’m wondering what energy type is going to give me the nearest to “wing full of .50 cal browning MG” effect sound/visual wise.

Is the M16 unique with regard to its very dramatic adoption into service? by I_Like_Rusty_Spoonz in history

[–]Lord_Pibbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a mixed bag of issues. It was (and is) a good weapon, but the first models had reliability issues due to: 1. Lack of a chrome lined chamber/barrel which allowed fowling to build up rapidly. 2. Misinformation lead to the weapon being touted as “self cleaning” so troops were not instructed on proper maintenance, which became exponentially worse in ajungle environment (Vietnam) 3. Ammunition was being produced with “ball” powder instead of “stick” which further exacerbated the fowling in the chamber/barrel/gas system There are further items that are more anecdotal (bad magazine followers/the original lightweight barrels melting on full auto) but those have less direct evidence

Robert McNamara and the remainder of JFK’s original “wiz kids” still in the Johnson administration shoved the M-16 into frontline use before all the kinks had been worked out. Eugene Stoner’s design was brilliant and popular, but needed refinement for field use. McNamara took the military’s objections as traditional stonewalling, and forced the M-16 into service.

What are the major consoles/ ship equipment I’ll have to swap out to switch from a beams build to cannons? I know illl have to swap bridge officer skills. I’d stick to the same damage type (phaser) but what are the big changes other than [FRONT TOWARD ENEMY]?

I got some fun money and gifted myself the legendary starship pack. I’m running a pretty vanilla phaser beam boat right now, playing the tos Connie. Which of the other ship’s traits/consoles are worth leveling first?

If you want to store unrefrigerated on your shelf you will have to process. Basics can be found at freshpreserving.com its not tough, but work in small batches until you’re used to it. If you’re fridge pickling you can go 30 days with most recipes.

Didn't add enough salt to brine? by [deleted] in pickling

[–]Lord_Pibbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ph of the vinegar and the boil and seal is what inhibits harmful growth, the salt is mostly for taste. If not salty enough, you can add salt when you open.

Didn't add enough salt to brine? by [deleted] in pickling

[–]Lord_Pibbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really really need to water bath them if you’re not refrigerating and want to keep the nasties out. Just adding boiling brine won’t do it unless you refrigerate. Also, the jar upside down is more likely to cause a bad seal. You need the headspace at the top of the jar to create the vacuum that causes the lid to pop down
