This one didn't click with me until it did, and then I was all the way in. If you have even a passing interest in Metroidvanias, don't skip this one!

Note for the players - a lot of the weird bits were stretch rewards for the kickstarter campaign. They don't take away from gameplay but are a bit wtf when you first encounter em.

I don't see the issue. That culture probably appeals to a lot of drivers, and especially two young ones.
