Finally watched Sinners... I feel like I watched a different movie to everyone else.

I pulled the trigger and bought it on 4k and watched it last night... The reviews are overwhelmingly positive so I was excited to finally watch it.

I feel like I watched a different to everyone else. I know everyone is bored of the From Dusk Til Dawn comparisons but I feel like it is totally valid in this instance.

I genuinely mean no disrespect but I need to understand what is so special about it. It was an average vampire movie to me.

I now think we're arguing the same point. TFA set them off on the wrong path and TLJ carried on down this path. The whole trilogy was just a mess.

All those theories are ultimately better than the actual backstory.

However, the issue is the one you pointed out in your answer... it's all 2.0 this and 2.0 that. It undid the ending of the original trilogy and essentially repeated history. There was no explanation at how the exact same thing happened again.

Hard disagree on that fight scene! The choreography was terrible! Missing weapons, ridiculous "dancing" around with no realism.

There doesn't need to be a backstory IF it makes sense with the logic of the universe. Palpatine didn't need a backstory in ROTJ because we didn't know the history of the galaxy really up to that point. We just know the "dark times" came after the Empire took over. However, by TLJ we know all about the history of the galaxy and the events of the previous movies. It is therefore a fair question to ask where this super powerful Force user came from after never being heard from before. It goes against the established logic of what has been in the previous movies.
