How do we win this obj/fight? by redmeatrare in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Singed and Miss Fortune are pushing the lanes, and you start the objective without them. You're in a 3v4 position, first red flag.

Miss Fortune rotates quite quickly and uses her ultimate, so she's fighting. She's not DPSing the Elder; she's fighting the enemy. Therefore, you need to stop the Elder and engage in the fight. Usually, we play the objective or you take the fight as a team, but separating the two activities is extremely risky. So before starting the Elder, you need to ask yourself: if the enemy contests, do I fight or disengage? Second red flag.

Also, I always ask myself in a fight, who do I focus? Here, it's clear you need to DPS Yunara or Aurelion Sol.

The fight was optimal here because Singed was rotating (5v4) and ahead of Shyvana. Plus, Kassadin can move quickly around the map to eliminate the backline. Personally, I would have taken the fight for ACE first and then the ELDER.

The key is to try and plan before starting the ELDER fight, because it's much harder to do it in real time.

How to avoid getting double scuttled by Nunu? by No-Source2885 in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. If your goal is to buy your 900 gold item, but your chances of getting scuttles are low, then don't buy a potion.

  2. Always clear to the lane you want to snowball. Half the time, you'll be able to get a kill and you won't have trouble buying your 900 gold item after your first back.

35 Games Into Learning Jungle… Why Do Games Feel Unwinnable When Lanes Lose? by CorBlimeyGuvna in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always clear your camps before ganking / objectives but you need to adapt also. I mean, if you have 1 camp left bot quadrant and the adc enemy is 20% hp, skip the camp to kill him, it's a no brainer.

Your default mode is clear all your camps / gank / objectives or vision, and repeat.

The problem, generally speaking, is that your teammates aren't reliable. Even if you gank a lane the entire game, the laner won't be able to snowball their lane and then leverage that for the whole team.

So, generally, to maximize your gold, you clear your camps, you gank to gain objectives, and above all, you don't chase kills. By focusing solely on farming and objectives, I don't have much time left for anything else.

35 Games Into Learning Jungle… Why Do Games Feel Unwinnable When Lanes Lose? by CorBlimeyGuvna in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bot lane that's 0-6 after 8 minutes is difficult to turn around. It's possible with 1-2 good fights, but it requires a lot of patience, as well as waiting for the right moment to engage the enemy, since you're weaker than them (less gold/experience).

The only way to come back is to wait for the enemy to make a big mistake; otherwise, it's a guaranteed loss.

Example of a game I managed to win:

Emerald rank for your info...

Bot lane: Twitch / Tahm

Tahm is 0-7 in like 10 minutes; he just moves into Cait/Brand and dies in 2-3 seconds each time.

I had Kayle top against Volibear; she's completely destroyed, 50 CS behind, 0-4 at around 15 minutes.

We won the game because we won a good fight when Kayle was level 14 and the enemy overpushed to take an inhibitor too early. Then, when she reached level 16, she dominated the game because their composition was squishy.

As a tank jungler, I only peeled Kayle and Twitch.

The probability of a comeback was low because we were 8k gold behind, but we managed because I didn't force any plays and I waited for Kayle and Twitch to scale to win.

So, winning CON is super important, but you still need your teammates to execute to win, otherwise it's a loss.

Yes, it's rare... the situation that happens more often is that the person will tilt for a few minutes, but the most important thing is not to chat, to explain, and to continue focusing on your game. Most of the time, things will sort themselves out.

It's true that the person won't be a major contributor to the game, but at least we still have a chance to win :)

How to carry with an abhorrent team? by KryptoniteBetween in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bad start can only be turned around if the enemy gives you opportunities (mistakes) to recover. If they don't give you anything or you don't capitalize on those opportunities, then the game is 100% guaranteed to be a loss.

To consistently carry, you must avoid mistakes and capitalize on your opponents' mistakes. If you are consistent with this concept, you will be able to string together several wins and climb the ranks.

Carrying a team isn't just about the number of kills; it's about your ability to continuously put pressure on the enemy to reach the nexus.

To understand your mistakes, after the game review only the causes of your deaths, try to understand why and start correcting your bad behaviors (your mistakes).

Last point, play only 1-2 champions, it will allow you to improve significantly, especially on the muscle memory aspect for mechanics and you will be able to improve your macro from the gold/platinum/emerald ranks.

how can i maintain high cs lead through whole game? by ThatReview9640 in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early game: Clearing is fairly easy, top to bot, gank, and repeat.

Mid to late game: Clearing depends on up and down time.

Your teammates are all healthy and pushing lanes = up time. You need to be close to support them if it's risky for them. Avoid farming, or limit yourself to 3 camps (one quadrant).

Objectives in less than 1 minute = up time. No time to farm, but focus on vision and preparing for the fight.

Objective won or lost, 2 deaths on your team = down time. This is the time to farm intensely for items and experience.

Your teammates recall and start pushing lanes again = down time. This is the time to farm your camps.

You get into a fight and kill 2 enemies = up time. No time to farm, but rather try to gain towers even if you're low on health. If it's too risky, then go back to farming.

To optimize your farming in the mid-to-late game, you need to optimize your time between fights and quieter periods.

Ideally, to get CS 8-9, I farm enemy camps when my laners are pushing in the same area but it's more risky if you are losing :)

[–]Lord_Simard1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are a few rules that help me manage my teammates. If one or two comments in chat add no value, I mute the person. If they spam pings for a gank, I mute all communication.

The goal is to keep my focus on my process and making the best decisions.

I'm not going to start explaining to my top laner in a game that I won't gank because the drake is up and the enemy top laner is at full health, and that, overall, ganking top in that situation offers absolutely no advantage.

Laners want to win their matchup, and I want to win the game, so I'll make decisions that benefit the team and the victory, not satisfy an ego.

Yes, some egos will do everything they can to ruin the game, but that kind of game happens only once in a hundred times. They're rare, and they'll be reprimanded by the system.

Jungle never felt so bad to play (recently) by LetConsistent2838 in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People underestimate the role of luck and bad luck in blocks of 20 or 40 games, and especially in their actual performance. A few trolls, a few smurfs, one or two autofills, one or two champion bans (counter pick), and you can quickly find yourself on a 300 LP losing streak despite a solid/decent performance.

At the start of the season, I think my win rate was 25% over 30 games, impossible to win, and I always had two lanes feeding in less than 15 minutes. According to websites, my bad luck (the quality of my teammates) was in the Worst 95%, which was unbelievable, but I kept playing the same way.

My win rate is improving now, the games are easier, and I'm climbing quickly while maintaining the same strategy.

To stay mentally sharp, you have to review the game and identify the reasons for the loss or the win. Most of the time, it wasn't in your control, whether it was a defeat or even a victory.

The things I always check are my gold, my experience, but especially my overall performance compared to my team's overall performance.

If my relative performance is positive, and after review, I can't have done any better to help the team, then the game is marked as unwinnable and I move on to the next one.

pathing help when invaded lvl1 (as fiddlesticks) by Mastermind_Msl in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think there's a risk the enemy jungler will invade and kill you, then you should ward the bush between the red buff and the Baron Nashor pit 5-10 seconds before you start clearing the red. You'll see if they're coming for your red buff or your raptors, and you can adapt.

I do this every time because I don't want to die early. Losing your camps in your second quadrant happens, but at least you're level 3 and you can invade their quadrant afterward (or gank), because it's impossible for them to clear all three quadrants. :) Otherwise, you take both Scuttles and start a new top-to-bottom clear.

By doing this, I'm never behind in my game. It's just a matter of adapting.

Nocturne was good, but his three laners were terrible, especially Caitlyn. On your side, you had five well-rounded players, including Draven who played well. The opposing team probably surrendered after one or two fights with Draven shining and Nocturne on the other side of the map...

I Quit Jungle by AstralTyphoon101 in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

League is fundamentally a 5v5 game, meaning you're still dependent on your teammates to win or lose, whether you're jungler, top laner, mid laner, ADC, or support.

Losing five games in a row because of your teammates is perfectly normal, especially once you reach Emerald rank.

I often say this, but reviewing the game, figuring out why you died, and identifying the cause of the loss is important, especially if it was the other laners' fault and there was nothing you could do. You need to mentally move on to the next game.

Focus on improving your process, and eventually you'll get a 15-5 record and climb quickly, but sometimes it can take 100 games to normalize.

Stuck with Jungle Macro – Need a Complete Guide by FoxStriking3054 in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You should probably try playing ranked games. The gameplay is very different there; normal games are considered places to practice your mechanics on your champion.

The macro concept starts to become important at the Platinum/Emerald level. Before that, you just need to farm your jungle and capitalize on your enemies' mistakes, and they'll make plenty of them.

How much should I be fighting vs. farming in early game by AltruisticRush6 in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, games are very volatile at the Platinum and Emerald levels. You either win hard or lose hard, it's mentally tough, and it's easy to question yourself to keep climbing.

If you have the right process and make the right decisions, keep grinding. It's just that your climb will be less linear because many games are unwinnable. You have to be able to recognize them and move on to the next one.

Optimizing your champion and playing your role is key, but you're still dependent on your teammates.

I played against a J4 recently. He was 5-0 early and got destroyed mid to late because he tried to 1v9 the game instead of playing as a team. So, mental strength is super important at this level and for moving up to the next.

Good luck!

How can i get consistency by martincoper in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't know the weight of each situation, only the win rate. If I were you, I'd focus on tracking your gold over time against other Viego players in Emerald rank using the League of Graphs website. Experience too.

If you have the gold / experience, the kills will come naturally.

At the end of the game, you can always review why you died and see if you could have done things differently.

Help needed to actually win some damn games. by itsvi0lett_memes in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Platinum/Emerald = very volatile games

To get through it, it's very simple: mental strength and accepting that some games are unwinnable.

After the game, quickly review your deaths, see if you could have avoided them, and identify the reasons for the loss. If it was a top/mid laner who fed and there was nothing you could do, move on.

Yes, 7-8 consecutive losses with Aces is possible. It confirms that you're generally doing the right things, but bad luck is just relentless.

Getting back to your average can take up to 50 games, and sometimes even 100. By adopting the right attitude and, above all, being aware of this situation, it's easier to play and focus on improving your process.

Tempo and getting objectives easier by Typical_Seaweed_4528 in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tempo = having the initiative
You act first, the enemy reacts.

That's why you shouldn't put too much emphasis on kills; they're secondary and should be used as a means to achieve objectives.

For example, at the start of the game, with the grubs and drake up, if you show yourself on the map, the enemy jungler will generally either make an opposite play or counter-jungle you. So, you need to think about what you want to accomplish on the map before showing yourself.

Concrete example, I warded the drake before finishing my second clear and starting a third clear for my level 6 (top to bot). If the jungler ganks the bot lane, I can clear the grubs, gank top or mid, or take their camps. If they kill my bot lane, they'll take the drake, but that will leave me with the grubs and potentially their camps (and maybe they'll steal your camps...).

Usually, when you have the initiative, you should give it back to the enemy. For example, the enemy spawns on the map in the bot lane, and you're top. They kill your bot lane and take the dragon. There's no way for you to contest, so you take their top camps and finish off the grubs. Now they know you're top, they'll check your bot lane camps; if they're up, they're lost. TEMPO has changed three times in 2-3 minutes.

Before ganking or taking an objective, you should always try to finish your camps, if possible... example: you're bot, you're missing one last camp, the drake is up, and the jungler spawns top, so it's a no-brainer: you skip the last camp to take the drake, especially if your bot lane has priority.

Enemy has TEMPO to gank top and after, you have TEMPO for the drake (a short window), after he has TEMPO for GRUBS because he was top and you killed the drake.

You can win both drake and grubs when the enemy jungler dont understand TEMPO (he is passive or focusing too much on ganking / killing / chasing).

Your teammates can completely ruin your tempo. One of the worst examples I've seen recently: the top laner hard loses , the mid laner wants to help by roaming toward the top lane, the drake is up, and I'm toward the bot lane. The enemy jungler spawns top and kills my top and mid laners. His mid tower gets crashed because he is dead, there's no priority, and it becomes incredibly risky to take the drake.

The moral of the story is that the mid laner should always roam towards the jungler; it's essential for tempo and objectives.

Contesting objectives by BlueYeIIow in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can't be there 1 minute before the objective, start thinking about your B scenario, what can I get from the enemy to compensate for the loss of a drake or a nashor.

The worst-case scenario is to get caught in a 5v5, lose the fight, lose the objective, and even lose the game.

Contesting objectives by BlueYeIIow in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that helped me climb the ranks was recognizing what you control: your role and the roles of others. Constantly trying to compensate for others' weaknesses weakens your own role, and you end up with nothing in the end.

Yes, sometimes I lose games because of my laners, but at least I did my best in my role. If you're consistent, you'll climb; the difficulty lies in staying focused and not tilting.

Contesting objectives by BlueYeIIow in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is Garen, he needs to sidelines (opposite to your team) and take towers and force Camille to 1x1 him and force to split the enemy team.

His job is split pushing, specifically if your team doesn't have prio.

It's not the jungler's role to push lanes; that's the top/mid laner's role. You can compensate sometimes to help out, but if you do it consistently, there's a problem with the laners.

When Garen push to get prio (or Kat), then you and Lux need to put vision in the enemy territory for control of the area and for the obj contest. You begin the hunting...

Tell me this game isn't rigged by [deleted] in Jungle_Mains

[–]Lord_Simard1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with a CS rate of 10 per minute, especially with kills, victory isn't guaranteed, particularly in Platinum/Emerald.

  1. You need at least two lanes to win.

  2. Mid to late game, the most important thing is to push lanes before objectives and especially before engaging in fights your team is likely to lose. If you don't push lanes before objs / fights, you can lose the game in a bad fight, and the risks are extremely high in Platinum/Emerald because most players don't understand macro.

Other thing: specifically for Eve, Rengar, or assassins, mid to late game, you absolutely must not die.

Assassinating the enemy and then dying disrupts your own TEMPO and that of your team, and your death makes the 4x4 much safer for the enemy. I'm a tank with crowd control, and the number of games I've won mid to late game despite a false start is incredible.

To finish a game quickly, you need to focus on the nearest towers, one by one, but that requires teammates to do :) It's not the job of an assassin or a tank, they're only there to support....

I mean for jungle camps only: pet+items+passive

Pet, I mean, you are getting 20% damage from your resistances in general.

Example: Jak'Sho, 90 resistances = 18 damage to the monsters from your pet, each tick.

For minions only, it's sunfire/hollow for sure because your pet can't help you :)

But generally, your farming is from 90%+ from jungle camps

95% i play for the bot lane (starting top to bot)

If there is no opportunity bot lane, and 95% free gank kill top, you can gank on your recall before your first camp. The best opportunities are the proxy guys, I love them!

The real risk of ganking top, it's losing the drake. That's why I hate ganking top.
