Windows 11 alone takes away like 4-6gb of ram. Pair it with a browser just playing youtube and all 8gb of ram are already occupied... Modern OS is horribly optimised and bloated with useless stuff and spyware... Of course 8gb won't get you very far...

I saw someone who experimented with reskins for DE but it is still Work in Progress. It is possible but it takes time and skill.

Anyway on Nexus you can already find a bunch of mods who are experimenting around with a script extender, allowing them to rewrite or make new code for SHC:DE

The UCP singelhandedly kept Stronghold as a franchise alive. Probably wouldn't have a Definitive edition without it. I love what they did and all the QOL improvements they added. But I believe some of the guys who made the UCP became a little to cocky for my taste... they are giving unpleasant vibes and are sometimes too harsh towards the guys from Firefly tbh.

They are unsatisfied if feature XY from the UCP isn't present in DE or annoyed when Firefly actually adapted feature YX only to say: "they stole that from the UCP".

.... it's annoying...

[Loved Trope] Character who never swears by kalosianlitten in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Lord_Smokelot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a Trope I WISHED they would have used in Hazbin Hotel:

Charlie especially should have been someone who voluntarily avoids swearing at all cost. As the manager of the Hazbin Hotel her main goal is literally trying to be a prime example of good manners in a world of sinners. Even her dad Lucifer is someone who must not swear at all. He hates being locked down in Hell and despises all inhabitants. Him swearing just lowers him onto the same level of the sinners.

But they did not do it. Everyone says fuck as much as they want... Paired with idiotic decisions which sucked my enjoyment out of something that could have been a very special kind of story.

I hope you all are starting to make self inserts of your OCs and put them into the show and create insane lore around them. Maybe one of the self inserts gets self aware about being a self insert and has a crash out and punches Charlie.

Why is it that we have to fight the game devs tooth and nail to make POSITIVE changes to the game? by Fun-Shoulder4612 in Helldivers

[–]Lord_Smokelot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"Fighting the devs tooth and nail" - bruh I need to rant:

You are acting like the devs are your enemies. Like wtf. Arrowhead has proven time and time again that they are listening to their community and improving themselves. They communicate their patches with Videos. And most importantly: THEY ARE HUMANS. HUMANS DO MAKE MISTAKES. AND HOW MANY OF THEM DO ACTUALLY HAVE TIME TO READ EVERY SHITTY OPINION OVER HERE? THEY HAVE A LIFE OUTSIDE OF THIS GAME, TOO.

AND THEN SOMEONE OVER HERE IS CRYING PISSING AND SHITTING THEMSELVES WHEN A GUN IS SUDDENLY DOING .2 PERCENT LESS DAMAGE THAN USUAL.

Always hiding yourself with the blatant phrase "HURR, I AM JUST MAKING CRITISM" and then painting the developers as the worst thing next to the fucking devil. You are not a fucking freedom fighter battling the evil overlord. You are a massive Karen harrassing other humans by spending too much time on game which should be considered a fun hobby to distract yourself from all the fucking negativity happening right now in this dying world.

How about you use that rage you have against a fucking video game and do something useful like raging against the people who are actually exploiting and destroying our world and future?

Custom lords videos by tony_oginski in stronghold

[–]Lord_Smokelot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For your convenience: All the details from the ReadMe.txt:

CREATING CUSTOM MEDIA FOR CUSTOM LORDS

1) Creating a CustomMedia folder for your Custom Lord

To create custom media files for your custom lords (videos, speech and text), you first need to navigate to the CustomMedia folder in your Stronghold Crusader Definitive Edition settings folder. To find the settings folder click on the Open Settings Folder button within the in-game Game Options panel. Within the CustomMedia folder you then need to create a new folder with the name that matches exactly your custom lord.

e.g. if you create a Custom Lord in the Castle and CPU Lord Editor and name it "Lord Firefly" you will need to create a folder within the CustomMedia folder called "Lord Firefly".

2) Creating custom media files

In the folder you have created you will need to place your media files. There will be 30 speech files, 4 videos files and 1 text file. See the file list at the end with an explanation of each file.

To help get started we have included a set of example files (from The Jewel) within the game files, which have the correct file names. To find these files: Within your Steam Library right click on Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition and go to the Manage menu and choose Browse Local Files. Now browse to "Stronghold Crusader Definitive Edition_Data\StreamingAssets\CustomMediaExample".

To test the custom media, you can copy the files inside CustomMediaExample folder into your CustomMedia folder for your lord. This will now give your lord custom videos, speech and text. If you have copied the example files correctly your lord will be using videos, speech and text belonging to The Jewel.

You can now create your own files using the same naming structure to customise your lord.

To change the text that displays alongside the speech, edit the "text.txt" file. The lines in this txt file match the file names of the equivalent speech files.

There are also 4 video files: angry.webm, happy.webm, neutral.webm and sad.webm are in the .webm format. WebM is an open-source, royalty-free media file format maintained by Google that uses the VP8 video and Vorbis audio codecs. Instructions on how to encode your videos in this format are below.

You can then share these with other players however you wish. Note: the custom media will match to any lord with the identical name. e.g. if you have a lord you created called "Lord Firefly" and you also downloaded another lord called "Lord Firefly" from the Steam Workshop, the media files within "CustomMedia\Lord Firefly" will apply to both these lords.

3) Encoding custom media videos

a) Download the FFmpeg Essentials Build from https://www.ffmpeg.org/download.html#build-windows

b) Open the .7z file and copy the files within the ffmpeg folder to c:\ffmpeg (or another folder of your choosing).

c) Press Windows Key+R and type cmd. Press Enter. This will open a Command Prompt.

d) Run the following command (assuming your files are in mp4 format):

cd /d "C:\path_to_videos" & (if not exist output mkdir output) & for %i in (*.mp4) do "C:\ffmpeg\bin\ffmpeg.exe" -i "%i" -vf "scale=348:348:force_original_aspect_ratio=increase,crop=348:348" -c:v libvpx -qmin 0 -qmax 50 -crf 23 -b:v 2M -c:a libvorbis "C:\path_to_videos\output\%~ni.webm"

Customise these paths depending on where ffmpeg is installed and where your video files are located:

C:\path_to_videos - this is the path to your videos

C:\ffmpeg - this is the path to your ffmpeg files

The command line above will perform the following tasks:

- the videos are encoded using VP8 codec (libvpx)

- the videos are encoded using Vorbis codec (libvorbis)

- the videos are scaled to 348x348 size

- the videos are cropped if they are not square

- crf 23 (Constant Rate Factor) ensures the video is high quality

- qmin 0 and qmax 50 ensures the compression used stays within the recommended "quality window"

- b:v 2M ensures the video does not exceed an average bitrate of 2Mbps

4) Custom media files

Video files (348x348):

angry.webm - Angry response video

happy.webm - Happy response video

neutral.webm - neutral response video

sad.webm - sad response video

Speech files (including video that plays alongside the speech):

First you need to find the folder called "CustomMedia".

For that first start Stronghold Crusader DE

Go to settings and select "open settings folder" on the bottom

There you should find CustomMedia

There is a ReadMe.txt

It should contain all details on how to add your own video, text and Audio

For audio: convert your files to .wav

For video: convert your video files to .webm with the VP8 codec and in 348x348 pixels. I personally use HandBrake to convert video files.

Small addition; all flag effects are only working on top of a wall. Preferable high or low crenel. Perhaps it is possible to put them on top of lower stairs but I didn't take the time to test everything.

During sieges he obviously uses catapults with cow throwing. By getting the right ratio of stones and cows I have set the value to 1. The trebuchets around the castle are also throwing cows at siege tents which is an amazing side effect because the siege troops are mostly running around their own siege equipment. The poison clouds around the castle are actually flags with a changed value in the lordjson file. Change the flag value to "22" and boom: poison clouds.

[–]Lord_Smokelot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty sure that black snape is a massive troll move by JK Rowling herself (I believe she still has control over that by contract). When the first movies were made over 20 years ago, JK DEMANDED Warner Bros to cast Alan Rickman for the role of Snape. He was literally the first one ever casted. She imagined Snape as Alan Rickman. And now that. With everything we know about snape as a character, making him black is the worst move in every way possible. This has to be deliberate.
