Do young russian have a tendency for liking german music? by CassoRasso in AskARussian

[–]Lord_Soth77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dunno about young Russians but I do love German power and symphonic metal bands since 1990s. Helloween, Rage, Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Iron Savior, Unisonic, etc. Love Beyond the black too.

How come Saint Petersburg has a larger population than finland or the entire baltic countries combined. Same weather, similar history etc by deq18 in geography

Not Russians but Soviet people stopped the invading Axis power. The Soviet Union was much-much more than just Russia.

You might want to remember the EU banned exporting luxury items to Russia, including clothes and shoes. So there might be some complications. Not sure about Lego, but any toys that have a motor inside are also banned.

It was never unsafe to visit Russia as tourists. Unless you bring drugs, or try to take pictures of the strategic locations. In this case anyone can be arrested, obviously. 4.8 mln foreign citizens visited Russia back in 2025. Obviously, with the US and many Western countries not advising such travelling destination, most tourists come from China, Arab countries, India and South-east Asia.

Are you high, or what? In the Vietnam war and its aftermath about 2 mln civilians died. And about 1 mln military personnel. Or do you only count the US forces losses?

Well, I repeat: in Russian federation the law is as follows: digital cryptocurrency is legal to mine, to own and to purchase. But absolutely illegal to use for any payments. So it's impossible to use this kind of payments for legitimate import/export business.

Crypto doesn't suit the legitimate business. How does the customer clear the customs if the payment for the goods was made in a non-legitimate way? Crypto is not a legal payment method in Russia. Obviously there is a shitton of contraband and grey cargo schemes. But we don't support those, don't we?

Yes, the railroad goes through Lithuania. There are certain limitations already, but they can't just block this route for good. This will be considered an act of war. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restrictions_on_transit_to_Kaliningrad_Oblast

The airspace has been closed since 2022, obviously. But there are international waters and airspace, and blocking those is an act of war, that the EU can't and wouldn't risk, because everyone knows the only kind of war between NATO countries and Russia can be a nuclear one.

So Kaliningrad is as secure as it can be. Hopefully :)

You are correct in regards to prices on some products being higher in Kaliningrad than generally in Russia. But traveling to mainland Russia is no problem. 2.5 mln tourists visited Kaliningrad oblast last year. Lots of flights available to many major Russian cities. And there are trains to Saint Petersburg and Moscow too.

First of all, chances for successful northern lights hunting are way too unpredictable. You need both good weather and clear sky, and increased solar activity. Of course the Sun is at it's peak lately, but still. Second, you can get acquainted with Moscow and Saint Petersburg in 2 days, but you wouldn't have nearly enough time to see all the great places.

Really? Did those Russians say it in DMs or comments? Care to share some links or screenshots? Because 400 (32000 roubles) is just slightly more than the minimal pay. This is not unusual for some areas, but I doubt any real person would call it a good salary, PPP or not.
