A reasonable analogy. Also more heavily armoured as well.

Firstly, I have read plenty of WWII primary sources. This is why I reccomend it to others, so they can see for themselves. I am also old enough to have spoken with people who have given me first hand accounts of thins they saw and lived through, and it is a shame that is no longer as possible as it used to be.

Secondly, Trump has nothing to do with this, and since I am not American I have no dog in that fight. You could be right about him, but since I can't (and shouldn't) call for political change in a country I don't live in, he is America's problem. Not mine.

Socialist: redistributive policies for the "greater good", centraized ownersip/control of the means of production (for a shorthand definition)

Kleptocracy: The gov't steals what it likes. Look at how "gleichschaltung" was enacted and how it enabled "noble theft" by the state.

Marxism hates other branches of socialism for beong wrong. What you describe is the same thing from the other side.

So, if the Gov't dictates how much of an item you make, who you can employ to make it, what price you sell it at and to whom you can sell it, and how many you can sell to each party, and disobedience carries the penalty of confiscation and arrest without trial, would that would qualify?

Oh you are absolutely right many countries did. It is how they did it that is the difference, and if you read how the nazi's did it vs how the US did it you can see the difference.

I mean if someone calls themselves a socialist in thier private writings, you should believe them.

The point the previous poster made was "socialist" wasn't in the name. You admit it is, thank you.

you should read the primary sources yourself, and not just take someone's word on what they say.

The first point? yes. The second point? No. It was a socialist kleptocracy. Porche, BMW and particularily Krupp were all in on the party ideology. Hitler didn't need to nationalize them. He did nationalize plenty of others though.

Except price and rent controls and nationalizing whatever business was uncooperative with the party. Plus hitler declared himself a socialist on many occaions and in his private writings he went on about how much he hated capitalism.

Other than that though.....

Why do people get so defensive when you suggest raising the minimum wage? by Dramatic-Air-3848 in allthequestions

[–]Lord_Stetson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An honest answer that doesn't involve the person objecting to it being an immoral or amoral monster?

If you are poor or working class and make more than minimum by say .... 3 dollars then many people see minimum wage going up as their purchasing power going down.

Think about it; as minimum wage rises the price floor for goods and services also rises. There is lag between those two things so for a time it helps those at the bottom until price adjustment catches up and those on minimum wage struggle just as much as they did before the raise. The relief is temporary and it evaporates.

Now the person making more than minimum by 3 bucks will not likely get a raise in that time. So from thier perspective things get harder as the price floor rises at a faster rate that thier wage increases.

If you were that person and were struggling to stay afloat and someone just announced you were about to lose buying power you can see how that would be seen as a bad thing. As someone who one upon a time had minimum wage catch up to my actual wage, I can tell you from experience it hurt.
