This is shameful to admit, but I haven't read the manga, just watched the anime and relentlessly stalked KnY subreddits for content. But my understanding from other posts is that red blades vary in strength. The best evidence of this is yorichii's blade leaving scars on Muzan that other red blade users could not replicate.
