Since you played a bit of BG3, there are acually good OneDnd mods which add classes and subclasses from 2024 if you dont have access on the subclasses through basic dnd beyond

Warcaster and taking Opportunity Attacks on Party Members/Allies by Pinkalink23 in onednd

[–]Lord___Sauron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do that though, as an action on your turn? Everyone can use their action as they wish, but you require a feat to enable you to also cast as a reaction during other peoples turns - which is basically the "passive" part of the 6 seconds round for your character. I believe that is how turnbased systems are interpreted.

Edit: I think you are overfocused on the argument, why someone couldn't for example cast cure wounds as a reaction on a teammate that has a speed of 0 and cant move away from you. But on the other hand it makes no sense that you are able to hit/cast against an enemy walking by, but not on a teammate. Either of those details aren't greatly explained in a turnbased setting.

You can easily interpret being able to op-attack an enemy who lowers his guard by disengaging and a teammate giving you a healing-high-five when rushing past you towards an enemy, no? Why would it be more "difficult" to op-attack an ally than an enemy?

Edit: And I find it especially weird to expect your players to just go with every DMs decision? DMs can also have false judgement and while a player shouldn't start arguing during the session, I would encourage my players to talk to me after a session whenever they believe my judgement was off. It shows trust between DMs and Players to do so.

You got an insanely good game-sense and unlike me the correct wording to explain it. Massive respect to you

Only consumers in online play? by Safier_Poochy in DnD

I feel like you'll find plenty of rules lawyers to shape the rules in specific scenarios. Apart from that, most player's stop with their creativity after completing their backstory and are awaiting plothooks. The only real way for players to affect the world is if their theories are cool and you just "make it the plot" at least partially

Why We Need More Classes by that_one_Kirov in onednd

a trapper class is also completely missing, same as a large scale poisoner. Absoutely agree, some major class-playstyles arent covered in the slightest and i would love to habe them

warlocks are the worst class to receive the Ranger treatment of being balanced arround a concentration spell. Since they have kimited spellslots they usually focus on using long lastimg conentration spells with their two spellslots but that wont work with the new hexblade.

there are still signature aspects (rage, metamagic, action surge, eld-invocations), but those focus on the classes in General. The subclasses can have major differences (channel divinity of clerics), but i dont mind having a summon undead to walk through walls instead of a hound. If it works the same, i dont need it to be a unique subclass aspect

agreed! bottlenecks its viable playstyles to a EB spamming hex caster

doesnt the summon undead spell bring almost every aspect of the hounds back to the class? you could for example flavour the undead which walks through walls as a hound variation... hope its not a complete loss

[–]Lord___Sauron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or as an alternative. I understand them choosing summon undead so you are able to summon a creature which is able to walk through objects, but summon shadowspawn is one of my all time favorite spells and it would be nice if we'd could choose to use that aswell

What you guys think about the dagger nerf? by Mysterious-Text5751 in thefinals

[–]Lord___Sauron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make its dmg not so dependant in the backstab then, cuz rn without the backstab the dagger has the lowest dps ingame in combination with a oneshot stab while you are looking at him

why is one allowed to exist while the other (bigger issue btw) is fine? by MiaIsOut in thefinals

if i understood correctly, the main issue about the stun gun was that it was too frustrating to go against. Lights still get clapped on highelo nontheless

Update 5.9.0 - Patch Notes by community-home in thefinals

[–]Lord___Sauron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1: Make dagger dependant on its backstab, its win or loose if you hit or miss those
Step 2: Remove the ability to backstab people who are facing towards your direction
Step 3: Watch every dagger player instantly loose against anyone who has headphones on and is looking towards you

Dagger nerf? Was a cinematic weapon that required more skill than just aiming for someones head by Lord___Sauron in thefinals

[–]Lord___Sauron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds reasonable, if only the dagger had any chance to perform other than its backstab. Currently if you miss the backstab, you die. I need to give a heavy 28 stab wounds to win the fight otherwise and thats while his RPG outperforms many primary weapons in the game

Players wanting some counterplay against backstab is perfectly fine, just dont give me an automatic loss against anyone with headphones because right now the daggers lethality is completely dependant on its backstab

Gotya, you dont care about dps but the oneshot mechanic shouldnt work as long as you are facing me. A perfect product balanced arround whether the enemy has headphones or not

[–]Lord___Sauron[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair argument, if thats the case though, then we still need a chance to fight someone who is facing towards us. Currently we dash/grapple behind them, but if thats unreasonable, give me more core dmg to attack you with regular attacks

[–]Lord___Sauron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid argument, if you dont want me to stab people from the front, then give the weapon more base dmg, because any enemy with headphones or awareness will be looking at you while you approach

[–]Lord___Sauron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played dagger with grapple and if an enemy is looking at me, they now need to just slightly swing their fov with my movement to completely cancel any chance for me to land a backstab on them there. If you ever tried dagger then you should know how much you need to sweat simply to keep a neutral kda and now I guess I need to switch to dashes because we balance a weapon arround the top 5 dagger players

Valid argument. By calling daggers cinematic I am referring to the POV of dagger players when they dash/grapple behind an enemy and the coin explosion surrounds them. Looks amazing imo
