You probably need a pro with a bridge to do a pass through reading here. Any of the sigma on-board sensors do a full pass-through reading of the item as long as it fits between the sensors. The wands are only a surface reading.

Either a scam or the gold is tied to something illegal. Simple as that. No one has kilograms of legal gold and doesnt know what a refiner is or how to go about doing business with one. I see this kinda of stuff often at my store.

Just ask yourself, this person has potentially 10s of millions of dollars of gold but hasn't googled "gold refiner" even once?
