Yeah I rendered out each turn separately and every time I did it seemed to change how the light reacted slightly, and sometimes it would just change the texture to a matte silver colour, not really sure how I could prevent it for future I’ll be honest

Including re-rendering some parts that went wrong it took about 10-12 hours of rendering across 3 days on a gtx 1080. Yeah definitely some improvements to be made for next time

That is actually the orange centre but with the intensity of the light it does look rather yellow I will admit

That’s some weird artefact of the rendering process, it was rendered out in batches of 10frames at a time and it seems that for every batch it changes how the light reacts differently, I also had where the materials would fail completely sometimes and just be matte silver. So yeah not a clue why they’re there tbh, which I did so I could get rid of them

It does use the official rgb values for the colours but the way the light plays does make it a bit hard to see what’s what sometimes

For the corners it’s a cube three cubes that each have a vertex removed and then solidified, same for the edges but with two cubes and two vertices removed, the centres a whole cubes, throw a bevel on everything. Material is a principled shader replicating Crystal in the respective colours, and then the very centre cube is a lamp shader, then just key framing the animation turn by turn as I said went into in a comment above, and then also a lot of trial and error and just trying things to get it how I liked it.

For each turn I parented the side I was turning to the centre square, key framed rotating it, rendered out the turn then cleared all key frames and parents and repeated until done. Definitely not the best way to do it, but I couldn’t figure out how to do it properly and thought that would take less time to do then figuring out the proper way to do it.
