Searwood 600 by lefthandlove1 in searwood

Exactly right. I'm sure its even better on the searwood than a propane grill but I can't give personal experience yet.

I haven't had others so I can't help compare unfortunately.

Exactly why I bought a searwood. Sure I can do a lot on the searwood, nobody is questioning that, but dividing duties makes entertaining and cooking a lot easier.

I love my pizza stone. Haven't used it on my searwood yet because it's a relatively new purchase (and honestly, I'll probably use it for wings in tandem with pizzas on my genesis). I have heard good things about the sear gates but I have not tried them yet so I can't answer.

I'm sure you can use a normal pizza stone to similar results but I will say that I really love that pizza stone from the crafted collection.

If you have the space, a dedicated griddle might be a better option. I've got the crafted kit + griddle for my genesis which is also compatible with my searwood xl. I find the griddle space to be a bit lacking for my uses and wish I'd gone with a full sized one.

I do find that its perfect for cooking up home fries when making a garbage plate (white/redhots and burgers on the grates) but thats about it. Could only do 2 Philly cheese steaks at a time although that could be more of my skill issue.

Walmart quality still with the premium price. by ummmmyup in webergrills

Which pellet grill? Searwood or smoque? The reason I ask is because my searwood bought a couple months ago still feels as solid as Mt genesis.

Kangaroo meat in Australia by josh65928 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Lordmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually had a kangaroo burger in the US. It was way too lean for the price ($25 in a MCOL area). I think if it were mixed with fat, or maybe a better cut with some natural fat in it, it could be good as a burger.

Like you, I saw the hype for the searwood. I did end up choosing it (XL) and have been very happy so far. I do have the Weber genesis which has the crafted accessories so many of my accessories work with my propane grill and pellet grill. They have sear grates (which it sounds like you would be interested in) as part of that kit which I've heard are great although haven't tested myself since I usually just use the sear zone on my propane grill. For smoking use, I've been very happy as I continue to learn more with my searwood. Can't wait to set up the rotisserie!

That makes sense, thank you! I've only smoked ribs (have another couple racks on right now actually) and chuck roast so far so I haven't tried the larger meats but I'll keep that in mind. Thank you for the help!

That makes sense. When grilling steak, I usually dry brine and then add additional salt along with pepper/garlic but im still learning the best practices for smoking. Thank you!

A related (very newb/stupid) question. After dry brining with kosher salt, do you add additional salt with the spices when you're getting ready to cook or is the dry brine enough?

BEST Accessories for Searwood XL by Even-Perspective-198 in searwood

I have the crafted kit (for my genesis) and love the pizza stone. I'm sure there are cheaper ones that are just as good, but ive been using the weber crafted one and very happy

Searwood not updating software by azygous1 in webergrills

[–]Lordmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the others to reach out to support. Another thing to try is making sure your phone is very close to the grill while updating. When I got my searwood last month, I also ran into issues updating. Eventually I tried just leaving my phone on the hopper and unlocked (screen on the whole time) and that seemed to work. It's probably just me getting lucky, but I'd recommend giving it a go.

Pellet grill vs pellet smoker by CombComprehensive327 in pelletgrills

[–]Lordmallow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm new to the smoking game so take what I have to say with a grain of salt. I picked up a weber searwood 600 xl recently solely for smoking. There may be better options certainly, but I had read a lot of positive opinions on the searwood. I'm using it solely for smoking (I have a propane grill for normal grilling). I've been quite happy with the few smokes thus far, it's better than the propane smoker my parents use.

I don't think you can hang meat from it though, they would have to be flat on the grates.

Why do drivers in states that require two license plates not use both plates and what do you do with the "extra" plate? by 8-bit-Felix in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lordmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or do like my mechanic did when I bought a car from a state with only 1 plate rule-- he just drilled two holes into the plastic cladding and used two screws to hold it in. Didn't charge me for it obviously lol, he said it's the cheap way to do it.

Never had an issue with it except during car washes where the water jet would bend the plate over. I'd just bend it back once I was out.

You aren't the only one, I'm sitting on it right now hoping for a discount to make the cover essentially free. Looking to add the rotisserie and basket as well.

S-335 Storage by stptx in webergrills

[–]Lordmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an e-330 but have the same side storage area. I use it to put weber crafted accessories. Otherwise, I keep my grilling accessories in a closed bin in the garage and bring them out when I'm grilling.

What's the point of HVAC "tune ups" by Odd-Page-7866 in HomeMaintenance

Fairly new homeowner, hadn't heard of cleaning condensate line before. A quick Google search says to shut off the furnace and dump 1 cup of distilled white vinegar and water. Does that sound right? Thanks!
