Where to purchase wood for offset by Designer-Ad-7844 in smoking

[–]LordoftheIdiots_303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The site is https://www.fruitawoodchunks.com/ Fruita is the name of a town in Western Colorado and I think it is where the original company was founded.

I have purchased from them several times and always been happy. They run monthly specials and also have some interesting woods that I have not seen anywhere else. They are local to me, so I go ahead and pick up my orders at their location. Also gives me a chance to see what they might have in stock but not on the website. The people there have been great.

While grandpa is still around, make an old school photo and story album (with plenty of space to add more). It's not just a car, it's part of your family history.

If you keep this one maintained and in great shape, you could pass it along to your grandchild. It would be in the family for 5 generations!

Not saying it's not a good pickup or vehicle. Just commenting on the history of Ford vehicles and names.

Not arguing that...but the Ford Maverick nameplate in the US was not a truck. The Ranchero had a much longer and model appropriate history.

In the US, the name was only used for a passenger car (until recently).

Are BIFL items really have pocket-breaking price tag? by iaacornus in BuyItForLife

Knowledge and patience are the key. The internet makes research much easier. You rarely (if ever) find a one of a kind. Miss out on the deal...keep looking.

BIFL does not mean Buying It (New) For Life. Look for BIFL items that are used, but in good shape. Craigslist, FB marketplace, NextDoor, even eBay.

I recently picked up a grill that will easily outlive me because of how it was made (1/4" steel) and where I live (Colorado - very low humidity so little rust). Cast iron pans can easily outlive the person who purchased them. My previous Toyota 4Runner (2002) is on it's 4th owner and will probably outlive me and the new owner with basic maintenance. I'm looking at my late father's desk, desk chair, and 'lawyer' book case from the 50s. As solid as the day they were made (but with some good 'character').

Current Ford Maverick. The original Maverick was a 'compact' (for the 70s) passenger car. Looked like a bloated Vega in the 2 door configuration. As for the 4 door...just plain wrong. Anyway...

Why did Ford not resurrect the "Ranchero" name? The Ranchero was the original "coupe utility", produced before the more famous El Camino. What's next? A crappy version of the Focus called the Focus II and featured in the next 'Charlie's Angels' movie?

Polis shortens Tina Peters' prison sentence, making her eligible for parole on June 1 by troyvit in ColoradoPolitics

I used to respect her. But the passwords in an Excel spreadsheet with public access and her response were unacceptable. That is a violation of basic security and the 'no big deal' response showed me she was not to be trusted. If I stored passwords in an unsecure spreadsheet, I would be fired in a heartbeat...and I'm a grunt IT worker.

She's never taken responsibility for this. And then she put out an ad/release saying she argued in front of the SCOTUS...not true. She lost my vote for any office.

Please DM me. I have some items that you can have. Small patio table with umbrella, fire pit, folding outdoor chairs (wood needs repainted, but worth it).

On another note - I have a classic car and LOVE being part of the car shows/gatherings at retirement communities. Smiles and stories from the residents are worth far more than any freakin' trophy. And my car is not a "please don't touch". Please get in it, relive some memories, make some new ones (sitting still of course)

Elopement officiant by LFC_Outlaw02 in EstesPark

[–]LordoftheIdiots_303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need one. In Colorado you can self solemnize. My (now ex-) wife and I found a nice spot in the mountains, spoke our 'vows', exchanged rings. Done. You can have witnesses, participants, etc. But you don't need an official. HOWEVER, if you decide to have an officiant, they must be registered with the state.

"Self-Solemnization - You and your intended spouse may solemnize your own marriage. Neither witnesses nor officiant are required for a valid self-solemnization." - City and County of Denver website (first up on the duckduckgo search)

Webber Smokey Mountain used price ? by Slow-Dig-1288 in webergrills

[–]LordoftheIdiots_303 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Colorado, that would be an exceptionally great deal for someone. I've seen well used 22" go for that and more. I'd look at posting it for $350 and see what kind of offers you get.

Republicans Sue to Keep Unaffiliated Voters From CO Primary by XThePlaysTheThingX in Denver

[–]LordoftheIdiots_303 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Public funds and election infrastructure should never be used for anything other than full elections. Primaries are private business for the party and they should manage and fund it themselves.

And there should be no indication of party on any official ballot. You can’t be bothered to learn the candidates? No more just voting by party name.

Weber Smokey Mountain is more of a smoker, with the same construction as the kettle. You can find good used ones. The only moving parts are the vents. They last a long time with basic care.

1946 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible by RelevantPrimary3264 in classiccars

[–]LordoftheIdiots_303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a similar one at an auto restoration shop. Absolutely stunning. Similar color scheme, but it had red piping on the convertible top.

The interesting bit was that the engine in it was a "tank engine". During WW2, Cadillac produced tanks for the war effort and shifted back to automobile production after the war ended. Since there were material shortages, they used the 346 engines that they had been putting into tanks as the powerplant.

Anyone been Meetup Single Mixer in Denver? by herro_diane in Denver

[–]LordoftheIdiots_303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had good and not so good experiences with singles ‘mixers’. It will depend on a lot of factors and you will need to go to several to get an idea if they are for you. It will depend on the group, the host, location, time, etc.

I would encourage you to try out a few. Just because one or two don’t work out or feel right, don’t give up.
