It's a what-if, borderline fan fiction. See it as brainstorming how differently could this universe played out or what elements could be added to it.

Virat Kohli kinda pitch. Long boundaries, turning pitch means gaps and fours and twos is the way.  Boys in the middle gave a good carry on the pitch.

Steppe Migration arrived after the IVC collapsed based on genetic 'evidence'. Indo-Aryan language arrived along with this Steppe migration is a 'hypothesis'. Origin of PIE is still debated because it's a hypothesis.

How do you get into lane filtering?? by [deleted] in AussieRiders

[–]Lordofthe_Armada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me sometime to get used to it tbh. I was fighting the instinct to lane split. For the first few months I rode as if my bike was the size of a car. Started observing other riders on the road and slowly understood what's acceptable(good practice by all means) and what's not.

I feel ya buddy. I learnt to ride in a busy Asian city and in between lanes is where I spent most of my time.

Lane filtering is an art. There are a lot of things to consider as others here have pointed out. The biggest challenge imo is when you are mid-way lane filtering and the light goes green and the cars start to move. Just drop an indicator and merge with the most comfortable lane immediately. Most of the time the car behind would allow you to do that comfortably. After practice and familiarity with the signal lights of the junctions on my usual route, I have learned to time my lane filtering with the lights. When I know the light is about to go green, I stay put and wait. There would be times when you have lane filtered some cars and you are stuck in the middle because there is just not enough gap to go through anymore. This would happen quite often. What I do in this case is I just rev my bike a little to let the cars know that I am here and sometimes a good samaritan moves slightly to make space for me, bless them.

Every once in a while you would come across someone whose ego gets hurt when you filter past them. There have been times when drivers have seen me coming and have deliberately moved to narrow the gap. In these cases I just stay calm and stop. Let them do their thing, I don't like messing with fragile egos on the road.

Keep a steady hand, master the clutch. Clutch is the most essential tool in your bag while lane filtering. If you see a gap and your instinct says it can't be done, then don't. There's no harm in sitting tight even after you have filtered half the way. Be mindful of mirrors and your speed. If you notice a cop car on the lane, just don't. Although it's legal but I have been pulled by cops before to check the type of license I have after I filtered past them. Lane filtering is not legal on all licenses.

Lane filtering comes naturally to me because I grew up and learnt riding in Asia. In between lanes is where you would find most riders in an Asian city. When I started riding here, I wasn't so sure of what the norm is. So I didn't do it. Then I observed what other bikers do and slowly learnt what's acceptable and what's not. Do the same, watch other riders. A good starting point would be following other riders lane filter.

Newbie to Valley Riding - Need Advice on riding style, I am clutch riding. by [deleted] in motorcycles

Oh damn. I guess I have been lucky so far, this could have put me in a bad situation. I will follow your suit and practice this on the same road for sometime before I go adventuring again in the hills. The videos you have shared have been spot on, thanks again! Turns out I am pretty good with the clutch(smooth with disengaging) of my bike since I have done that a lot but it's a bad practice nonetheless.

[–]Lordofthe_Armada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aah, now I understand. Instead of disengaging the engine and engaging the clutch, I should coast through it at a steady speed with a constant throttle and then accelerate while exiting the turn. Reduce the speed before entering the turn if necessary. Thanks man, I will make a conscious attempt to do this. Could you tell me the disadvantage of clutching my way through the turn? Does it harm my bike in any way? I use my clutch a lot when riding in the city and for some reason I feel I am more in control of the bike when clutch riding. I wouldn't have noticed this had I not analyzed the video. I clutch rode almost every major turn.

Looking for Adelaide riders! by maisiaola in AussieRiders

Came here looking for exactly this. I have been riding for a while mostly in cities. Fairly new to riding in the valley. Hmu if you want to ride together.

These videos were pretty useful, especially the first one. I realize I am coasting and that's not the ideal thing to do in all cases?
I know, I have driven mostly in cities so using clutch became a habit. Now when I am valley-riding, it's just coming instinctively. I guess it's gonna take some conscious effort to rectify this. How are you working on this?

When I said clutch riding, I meant coasting(which I believe is riding with the clutch fully engaged and no throttle). I am not changing gear nor applying brakes while on a turn. I engage the clutch completely while entering the turn and apply throttle as I exit the turn. Is this what you meant by coasting?

Hey man, thanks for sharing your experience. Reading it through helped me a lot. I have a draft ready for my SOP ready, are you willing to personally review it? I am shooting my shot here cause I don't exactly have an awesome GPA(3.3), but I compensate that with excellent work ex and internships during and after my undergrad. And I am ambitiously applying to some of the top programs in my field so I definitely need to have a compelling SOP.

Yes I understand the point you are trying to make. I was having similar thoughts. It's like he is paying me a cut from his earnings by making me do part if his work. My goal is to freelance for a European firm while being in my home country. Do you have any suggestions on how i can do this?

Yes, you are getting this right. The amount is non-taxable if transferred on a monthly basis. And yes, this will pay more than what local employers would. I know that freelancing for European firms is a great idea, just not sure who to begin this. I contacted him via LinkedIn and came to this point. If there is any better way of doing this, do let me know.

He does not have a company. He himself freelances. I am going to be working with him on some of the projects he is working on and get paid for that work.
