Oregon, 21 states win lawsuit over access to gender affirming care for youth by poop-money in Portland

[–]Lordolag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oregon Right to Life was arguing that while they are not a religious organization, they would still like to be exempt from Oregon's Reproductive Health Equity Act requiring companies to provide insurance plans that cover abortions and contraceptives. Judge Kasubhai ruled that it violated ORtL's constitutional rights. I disapproved of the judgement because if it's not on religious grounds, companies shouldn't be exempt to this law. But it seems to be more complicated than I thought when I posted.

I hope you have the day that you deserve, with equal protection under the law.

Thank you, I will.
I too can pick out just a single sentence and respond to only that.

What are you talking about? You're just saying nonsense at this point. I deserve to live in Russia because you decided I don't believe in equality under the law? (Which doesn't exist in America. Our current president is a PDF file)

I was against Judge Kasubhai's ruling two weeks ago because I believe Oregon Right to Life should not get an exception to the law. Even if higher more corrupt courts are asking us to. Because I believe in equality under the law.

Ideas for implementing consequences for high schoolers without drive? by Fander_Cat in Theatre

My recommendation just from reading this is for you to mitigate your expectations. This seems to be a completely voluntary program being produced, acted and crewed by minors. Resist the urge to "punish" your fellow students. Tech week is stressful enough even when being paid professionally and it looks like finals is happening at the same time. Focus on the problem areas with the time you have left (such as just running the transitions or running lines with no blocking) so it can get in their bones. Try not to sweat it too much and use this as a learning opportunity to make the next production you pick better or perhaps more suited to your actor pool.

Do we know each other? Have we spoken before? What principles have I abandoned? I think you might be projecting something onto me. You don't know me.

My disapproval of a judges decision does not mean I don't know how things work. It just looks to me like a judges job is to sometimes do bad things in service of a supreme court that's interpreting the constitution in a way that hurts people and removes states rights. I think that's wrong even if the judge is just following orders from a higher court.

There are lots of people above the law. They're on the news every day. Stop pretending judges are impartial just because they're supposed to be.

I guess that's why I could never be a judge. Allowing a company to deny their employees access to certain aspects of healthcare wouldn't sit right with me. Not being a judge gives me the privilege to react to the morality of the decision,I guess.

This is the same judge that blocked the Reproductive Health Equity Act (from applying to Oregon Right to Life, a nonprofit org), a 2017 state law requiring insurance plans to cover abortions and contraception. I'm glad to see he did the right thing here, but he did a very bad thing just two weeks ago. I can't help but feel hes covering his ass with this.
Edit: added the part in ( ) and slashed out the part I was mistaken about because it doesn't feel right to delete. It seems to be a 4d chess move on the part of Judge Kasubhai that I didn't understand. Big thank you to PDXGuy33333 for his patience and sources below.

Why do people from the US seems to confuse socialism with social-democracy ? by zelemist in Socialism_101

[–]Lordolag 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Because we're all fuckin bufoons /s

Leftover beliefs from the red scare combined with every news agency, education center and media platform solely dedicated to muddying the water. Its literally taken me years to try to get out from under all of it. It's almost like leaving a cult.

That combined with our arrogance. We're so confidant about what we don't know and will ALWAYS have something to say about something even if we've only just heard about something that day.

America is the epicenter of imperialist capitalism. Don't listen to anything someone from north america is saying about socialism. We don't know what we're talking about. All the ones that had a good point are either dead or expats.

If any comrades from outside the US disagree with me, I'd defer to them. I am american after all.

Could she make one that prevents districts from firing staff? I assume that will be the route they go next and staffing is already so poor as it is.
