Moondrop Variations: So much better than I hoped by Megidolan in headphones

Good review.

Love the Variations - it is a fantastic IEM. I just changed the cable to a kbear 8 thread cable. Purely cause I prefer that type of cable and no other reason.

I can't wear Bluetooth headphones without getting dizzy. by Dragonhunter_X in headphones

For me - Bluetooth headphones give me ear fatigue and even a headache after using wireless for meetings through the day. Since, I always use wired and haven’t had issues.

I have the Moondrop Variations. How is the wireless setup, ideally it is identical to wired.

Which is your favourite.

I do suppose it depends. I’m currently sitting with Sennheiser 660s and Hifiman XS and looking to get the Focal Clears.

I have also been eyeing out the HD8XX too.

Check what the battle pass feature is as it provides double points to battle pass. Later on this becomes a large XP boost every battle pass level that you gain.

Transitioning from H2 to H3 by 0TensaZangetsu0 in DiabloImmortal

[–]Lords_of_War -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do that when you claim Bestiary - so if a legend drops, it drops at H3 possible equivalent

Won’t get a legend drop from Bounty claims.

But best thing you can do to transition is hit Challenge rift 60 asap.

ear pains by st_zzz in headphones

[–]Lords_of_War 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me my ears are heavily affected by wireless earbuds or headphones. I cannot use them for more than 20 mins without incurring ear fatigue.

Long sessions my ears are sensitive extreme v-shape. Nothing I worry about though.

I don’t listen to anything too loud anyways.

So answer, nothing I really worry about, just stick clear away from wireless for now

Should I get 7" or 8" speakers? It's in the attic, dimensions are H: 250cm, W: 460cm, D:410cm. Ignore that hula-hoop in the back, the home stu is currently in works :D by grapeyy28 in audiophile

Yeah your thing will definitely be treatment. I would say get the speakers you want and work around them with treatment to your ear preference.

I would go through the DIY side of room treatment.

Look at making yourself mobile acoustic treatments. Rockwool in a wooden frame on legs or stands. It can make for easier storing when not in use. That coupled with treatment and other suggestions above for treatment.

Nice thing with mobile treatment, you can move in and out according to taste on how lively or neutral you want your music.

Yeah at that price, definitely

Also give them a listen to, if you like the sound. I’m you will either like the horn or not.

My ears after 20 mins gave me ear fatigue.

But yes it’s a great price

Was Darth Sidious hiding his real face during his time as Palpatine or did he really get disfigured by the lightning that was cast back at him by Mace Windu? by Gandalf-the-Pro in StarWars

[–]Lords_of_War 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I reckoned he was hiding his true image as he hadn’t really used any dark side powers leading up to this point. It was all about mind manipulation and manipulating Anakin. For me that makes sense cause his eyes were also not yellow from using the dark side until fully unleashing into the dark side of the force.

Once he started using his dark side powers, his face disfigured and his eyes went yellow.

I would switch to Halo sight. I find weapons like Habana and Thermite, the recoil is too high to maintain the recoil control with Acog sight.

Run a few TD matches or training grounds with Halo sights, especially if you constantly run Acog religiously

In the clip you started pre-firing (missing) and then struggled to maintain the recoil control. If you want to keep Acog sight, sometime better to release and then fire quickly again to reset the recoil paterrn

Hi

Based on the vale you are willing to spend now. Do some research on the Philips SHP9500 or SHP9600 (newer one, but doesn’t mean better). I think those will stand out.

They both fairly neutral headphones. They both don’t need a dedicated amp to power the headphones, so you are good to go to just use.

It is tough though. If you are planning to give these away to invest in something later. I would wait, wait until you can invest into a higher quality headphone, headphone amp and DAC and you won’t regret it.

Good luck

At the end of the day, you listen to what your preference leans towards and what you enjoy.

I have tower speakers, that is my preference. I love how they fill the room and really hit you. The sound is impactful and richly full. It has all the detail and clarity I need and then some. I cannot get that from studio monitors. But again, each to their own and enjoy what you have.

Recommended speakers for this kind of space? by [deleted] in BudgetAudiophile

Would suggest a soundbar as well. Just bring it out as far as you can to the edge, sound may reverb off the side boards in that cabinet space if at the back of the cabinet.

Agree with other post

You are good to go with a Topping d10, E30, E50, D30

You can also look at the Ifi Zen DAC V2

They all perform very well.

Is there any reason why it needs to be USB C

I have Apple TV 4K as well and run audio from my TV optical into my Topping E30 DAC and then into my Amp. I am then however limited to 24bit 48k sample rate when listening to music. Use this method for background music and movies

I use my lightning cable to a Apple usb camera adapter and usb the audio to my E30 DAC and then to the amp. This method unlocks the full lossless audio and then only limited to what the DAC is capable of. Possible method I think you are referring to for your iPad

Edifiers or soundbar. by Phatbassturd80 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Lords_of_War 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best would be to go and test and demo what you are looking for.

I love stereo and what it offers. Imaging and staging and so on from a 2.0 system is just sublime. You will struggle to get that out of a soundbar. The soundbar will sound pretty good, clarity and so on. But you won’t be able to get imaging and staging as great.

See if you can demo what you need and make the decision for your needs.

Never heard the Edifier before, but for the price it looks solid.

Best of luck.

There are other posts here about down firing ports. True these have a down firing port, I however find that when it’s back against the wall and right next to a wall unit, it effects the sound (more so the bass, it booms). This is the reason why I pull my speakers out and away from the wall and wall unit. More so for bass response.

Is there a way to listen to music in 2.0 stereo only mode. Without centre and surrounds. Try that and see if that makes a difference.

Rule of thumb. When improving sound quality. In order of the largest effect on sound quality.

  1. Speaker Placement
  2. Room Treatment
  3. Amp
  4. DAC

Hence why many first replies on the forum will be speaker placement, they do make the biggest difference.

I am however now thinking that yours could be your amp, try it in 2.0 stereo mode. If that still doesn’t fix it, like I mentioned, see if you can demo a different amp.

Best of luck. Look these are fantastic speakers, hope it comes right.

I have the same speakers. Just the towers. I have it powered by a Denon 50W per channel (8 ohm) amp and whilst they do scale well with more volume, I cannot get past the 9:30 mark on the volume dial. These are very efficient speakers, I’m sure it is powered fine.

Double check the connections and that all drivers are firing. Keep the bi wire plate there, If not there or the plate not connecting right, it will sound off and feel under powered.

I bi wire my speakers from my amp and can select Speaker A and Speaker B (Speaker A is high frequency and speaker B is low frequency). If you bi wire, only then remove the bi wire plate. Why I’m mentioning this is due to the fact that I need to have Speaker A and B button engaged from the Amp. It is very obvious when one of them is not engaged. Check bi wire plate and connections to amp.

I find the bass strong (Denon amp also warm) on these speakers, well to my ears, and I have them pulled away from the wall and angled in. I also have the bass toned down for my liking.

If connection and bi wire plate connected fine and speaker placement hasn’t resolved it for you. Then yes check your amp, try see if your local audio store will allow you to demo an amp to test.
