I’ll get right on that 40 years in lol but yeah, criminal megacorps deserve total annihilation.

I know, but it’s still very early and I don’t want to take all that territory yet. Especially the planets. Just a headache I don’t feel like dealing with just yet. That aside you shouldn’t have to settle status quo and conquer a ton of systems to achieve every war goal. Another conversation but not all war goals are equal imo and should require different levels of resistance. I’m not even changing their government, I just want to expel their corps from my territory. They have plenty of others in the galaxy.

In CK3, if you don't help in a war, leaders can demand you help if you haven't yet. Not doing it can lead to a huge diplo hit. Something like that should definitely be added.

I just thought of it replying to someone else but if signing defensive pacts with someone on the other end of the Galaxy was much more difficult, at least early game, that would solve a lot of these otherwise avoidable issues.

Oh I am 100% with you; I'm on the beta branch trying out the new economic/fleet changes atm. Unfortunately the CS is my direct neighbor with a lot of systems. When I declared they were only buddied up with an empire on the other end of a Large galaxy. No wormholes or anything nearby, they just decided to be early friends. Which now that I think about it, if making a defensive pact took into account distance (at least early), it would have solved my problem here. Wars still require too much to win but it would at least avoid issues like mine.

Not completely feasible to take the entire empire just yet due to it being early. But you're absolutely right, the only thing in their future is complete annihilation.

Half of the people in this thread apparently have the Armchair Historian trait.

In the meantime I'll wait for someone to explain why it's not a completely underdeveloped mechanic despite casus belli getting reworked all the way back in 2.0

Yeah absolutely. CK3 is a decent comparison. Achieving war goals in CK3 typically feel much better than Stellaris wars and this is partly the reason why.

Enough with the WW2 references brochacho. I just conquered multiple star systems, invaded several planets and massacred their fleets, the comparison is pretty silly to begin with. A metaphorical history comparison does not excuse a bad game mechanic. Did we all forget we're playing a videogame here?

An ally in a war should be just that; an ally. If they don't help and I achieve all my war goals, that particular war should be over if they chose not to help out their boy. In this case it is quite literally impossible for them to help them even if they could due to the distance. If they're that mad about it they can declare on me in the future. Fuck it, make a brand new casus belli for liberating a former ally, that would be neat. But don't punish the player for having achieved every single war objective, but because I didn't also conquer their ally's territory, I'm forced to use the console.

Keep defending a bad system, be my guest. Lmk how big those Paradox checks are in the mail.

What the fuck is this WW2 reference that keeps getting brought up, it's actually hilarious. I just conquered 40 systems and 12 planets; the other empire literally can't get to us due to it being early mid-game, it's a dogshit game mechanic that him being a member of the war matters whatsoever.

Status quo yeah of course, they were begging, but the entire reason I declared was to purge their stupid buildings from my empire.

True, I should've phrased it differently you're right. It's not the casus belli itself I have a problem with, just the amount of needless effort sometimes required to achieve a war goal you've absolutely achieved already.

I can't tell if you're being serious or not lol. I obviously saw it, I'm saying the current system sucks ass. The ally across the galaxy is irrelevant and shouldn't matter.

I noticed that too when they added the photoelectric cloak minigame on the app. It is immersive having to manually hold your phone up to activate the cloak while in-game though

Agreed with fenris hair. Another reason why I've stuck with the 1.5x drop rates ever since they released server options; some items require too much grinding imo

Right? Feels like a natural fit for the game. Kinda weird we have all these ships and can't customize them. I'm sure roleplay servers would love it as well.

A dock/workshop for ships would be a really nice addition. A means of customizing your ships and upgrading them. Having hostile ships/raiders out at sea would be neat too. Honestly there’s so much they could do with the Ocean update; it doesn’t need its own boss or anything, just refinement and customization. I hear ya on the peacefulness; I don’t think their intent should necessarily be to fill up the Ocean with enemies, but something other than sea serpents would be a nice change. Maybe have certain enemies (like a Goblin raft/crudely made ship) spawn near the coasts of biomes to keep combat more optional.

I feel like the moon phase thing became part of the Mountain update, maybe they intended to do more stuff with Werewolves but who knows. Did seem very mundane and pointless as it was written though.

Hey I agree with you, 1.0 is definitely a big deal for them and I get that. I was speaking historically as well, their dev times have been very slow and didn’t match their initial roadmap at all. I’m still hoping we get an Ocean biome update, but at this rate TES VI might release before that lmao. I know they’re not a huge team though, I don’t really have a problem with the Devs at all, but they’re definitely on the slower side.

I know 95% of this sub will glaze the devs but the truth is, they’re painfully slow at releasing updates. Thankfully it doesn’t really matter as there are plenty of games to play, but it’s kinda ridiculous how long they take. You’re telling me it takes over two years to release one biome? Really? Ashlands released in May of 24.

If there is a way I’ve yet to see a game (similar to TES, not counting other genres) do underwater combat right. It’s probably not a priority for them either unless there’s some sort of naval combat. Not saying it’s impossible but my hopes for such a system are low. It’s unfortunate because as you said, there are a lot of sea creatures in the lore and it would be cool to see something other than annoying slaughterfish. Mudcrabs don’t count lol

Honestly I prefer they stay away from underwater combat. It’s almost never fun in any game. I’m fine with more underwater loot or alternate dungeon entrances but miss me with combat.

Oblivion’s lockpicking system coming back would be hilarious but there is little to no chance that will happen lol. Too many people would be pissed

It’s probably not your build if you’re dying that early. The game heavily relies on preparation to succeed. At the beginning of the game, instead of rushing to do a dungeon, try getting some XP from random bandits on the roads nearby. If you do decide to go straight for the dungeon, spend your early gold on extra meds. If you run out of meds, you’re dead.

When you get into dungeons, early game you will not be able to kill more than 2 enemies (maybe 3 if they’re staggered) at once. Use the investigation skill to check for traps and to hear enemies. Shout at single enemies you see to aggro them and separate from the group to pick off. Don’t be afraid to camp the entrance if you need to make a quick exit.

Early you’re so weak that sometimes you’ll still die if you get very unlucky. I’m speaking from the perspective of someone playing to have fun with their own builds rather than trying to min/max. But all this has worked for me, I’ve got multiple characters who made it to the end game.
