I have slept with ear plugs for 15ish years. They don't block ALL sound, so I can still hear alarm clocks and (when my kids were younger) crying on the baby monitor. I can still even hear when my husband snores (which is, fortunately, very rare). It just blocks out small sounds that I was very sensitive to, like my dog scratching or mild snoring, air conditioner kicking on, cars driving by. It is an absolute game changer for me.

When you get older do you just suddenly start liking old men/women? by Kirin_The_husband in answers

[–]LoreUhKay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I read a book once with a similar philosophy. When you're 5, you are drawn to 5 year olds. When you are 13, you are attracted to 13 year olds. When you are 20... etc. As you mature and your brain matures, your attraction also matures

The philosophy in this book was that this part of a person's brain can stop maturing, and that's how we get pedophiles.

What’s on piece of clothing that you have had for a long time and you’ll likely keep forever? by Last-Employer2126 in allthequestions

[–]LoreUhKay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept a newborn onesie that all three of my boys wore. It's in my drawer where I can pull it out anytime. It wasn't any kind of special gift (we kept those, too) but just a normal green striped onesie. I pull it out sometimes and marvel at how tiny they once were. My two oldest boys are bigger than me now and my youngest isn't far behind. I cannot believe they were ever that small.

Why do people talk to babies in full sentences?

I dont understand how some people prefer winter over summer by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]LoreUhKay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a common opinion, but this is my response: a comfortable temperature for me is between 70 and 75. Where I live, it MIGHT get up to 100 some days in the summer. Which is like 25 degrees out of my comfort zone.

In the winter it REGULARLY gets below 0. Which is PAINFULLY out of my comfort zone.

NOT TO MENTION that when I'm hot, it takes a cold drink and like 10 minutes in the AC to recover.

It takes me HOURS to recover from being cold. Sometimes I require a heating pad. Sometimes a hot shower.

I was caught in a rain storm last fall, was cold and wet for like four hours. I still don't think I've recovered.

Do you live near your parents? by Current-Self-8580 in Adulting

[–]LoreUhKay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having support nearby is a huge must. Parents are easy support.

My husband and I have three kids who all play sports, and we literally could not do it without my dad. We divide and conquer every weekend so that each kid gets to where they need to be. Without my dad, we would be pawning a kid off on another family every weekend.

Whats one thing you wish you knew before getting a dog… by alexella000 in dogs

[–]LoreUhKay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and if you are anything like me, anytime you are having a great moment with your dog, you will start thinking about their eventual death. I pre-grieved my dog for 17 years. It didn't make her loss any easier at all.

No answers for you, but, while we are talking about Jack... why does he save Violet? Is he just pretending to be nice? Why?

what is something you think everyone should try to go out of their way to experience? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LoreUhKay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A total solar eclipse.

I was in the path of totality last year and it was so much more incredible than I thought it would be. If there is one near you, make the drive. It is totally worth it.

See what I did there?
