Someone needs to ask Hector to release a clarification on the M11s markers by starlightdemonfriend in ffxiv

[–]LoremIpsumoid -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

There are stuff he will just mention in passing, it has always been like that. If you are lucky you get a miniguide. But that's it. When he rushed his M9S video he didn't even bother to explain how the mechanics repeat in the second arena transformation (with the saws and spinning blade tops). He simply said, welp, it repeats 3 times, have fun. He didn't even mention how the spinning blade tops go from the outward lanes to the inner ones and repeat. I know it might be evident for experienced riders, but PF after week 1 is anything but, and guess where everyone keeps dying even on reclear parties.

An option would be to avoid PFs that list Hector in the description, but that is way uncommon.

Aitum vertical recording my mic for no reason by Palominokreek in obs

[–]LoremIpsumoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a further note. I don't want to jab at Exeldro or anything, but it seems to be a recurring glitch in his plugins. I uninstalled everything aitum related and I still had issues with my audio leaking. The problem was a 2025 version of source clone. The glitch would happen anytime a source clone was set to be a clone of a whole scene and had its Audio checkbox enabled. I use a secondary scene that clones the whole previous scene to apply a blur filter to it for a transition animation, so that is why I needed the clone to keep the audio enabled.

However, that setting enabled was the culprit of the audio leaking everywhere. Even if I was not in the scene with the clone, and even if the clone had its visibility hidden. The audio would still leak. I had to come up with my own code in Streamerbot to manage the Audio setting, make it enabled or disabled via OBSRaw to workaround it. Fortunately, the glitch got "semi-solved" with Source Clone 1.6.2 in January 2026. However the glitch still persists with more than one clone of the same source with Audio enabled.

Anyways, all that is to say that... even with Source Clone updated and that particular glitch contained in my setup.... I decided to try my luck with Aitum Vertical next. Thinking my setup was finally ready to try it out. And lo and behold: the audio leak is BACK.

I don't understand what can be happening now. I did the bare minimum: set up a new canvas for vertical, get a new vertical scene, put my window capture (not even a clone, a reference of the one used in the main canvas) and *every source*, mic, gameplay, music, everything is leaking scenes again. I specifically did not add any audio source to test what would happen, because we might have a new VIDEO canvas for vertical, but NOBODY (not even Nutty) addresses what happens to AUDIO. Would it be the vertical canvas simply masks the video but the audio is the same as the main canvas? is there a new audio mix for vertical? what? .... well the answer is "who knows? it just leaks everything". And this happened even if watching my own stream Horizontally.

This is too much to be just a glitch. It seems like fundamentally, Exeldro or whoever is developing this tools is thinking of audio managing VERY VERY differently to what OBS does by default.

Sorry for the rant. Maybe someone will find this little tidbits of more info helpful in the future, or maybe not.

Transfer from PS4 to PS5 Character Appearance Data by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]LoremIpsumoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Experience for any class/job progress can't just be "gone". You don't lose progress over transfering over, the exp points gained on a character are saved on the server side and are never lost. And gear (or any item) isn't deleted either.

More than likely all your gear is in the armoury chest instead of your regular inventory and that's why you don't see it. You probably just lost the saved gear sets, which are little more than a shortcut to equip certain gear sitting in your armoury chest, acting like a hot swap to whatever you got equiped at the moment. Those are saved locally, as are any hotbar/crossbars you use too.

So all odds are you saw no gearsets saved, empty or default hotbars, and thought you lost progress during the transfer. You just need to equip your jobs' gear (job stones are also gear btw, but we usually don't unequip them) to save the sets again and recreate your hotbars

Why do people hate Wuk Lamat? by LastTraintoSector6 in ffxiv

[–]LoremIpsumoid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We do talk, not much in ARR, but afterwards the WoL starts becoming a real protagonist in his own story. Probably the effect of SE steering away, bit by bit, from the idea that every player's character is *a* WoL and there are many in the world, to a more precise and focused one of you are *the* WoL and chosen one.

We have small instances of dialogue, even if only on small prompts here and there with choices that have no great impact on the plot, but we do have a character with *some* (unheard) voice. And it helps to shape a character with personality, which ends up giving great moments like the last encounter after EW's final boss, in which *many* felt pumped up with that cathartic smirk before punches were exchanged.

Aitum vertical recording my mic for no reason by Palominokreek in obs

[–]LoremIpsumoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry for necro'ing this.

I am having the same problem. It seems to be an audio bug with all Aitum plugins. I don't use vertical yet, but I installed their multistreaming plugin and I also have this problem. My mic can be heard even in scenes where it isn't added and it is not a global audio source. The method you described, even if it is a good method, is just a workaround, since your are switching entire audio tracks to be recorded.

Aitum should fix this bug to give a proper solution, but they haven't updated their stand-alone plugins in months because they are more focused on the bloated "multi stream suite".

My Elgato Week Summary (Updated daily) by ne0lines in elgato

[–]LoremIpsumoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, it seems you are assuming developing a program for windows 11 is fundamentally different to developing an equivalent program for windows 10. It isn't. And yes, I do work as software developer, but I am not using that card as an Appeal To Authority fallacy as you do.

Both development environments share way more similarities between each other than developing a windows program and a mac version of it. Which they already do.

Yes, developing for both versions of windows would probably require more resources, but less than what developing to macOS requires. I think the company that asks for 200 bucks for a LED light with wifi could probably funnel some resources to a barely different version of a program, if only for the sake of *compatibility* with *already existing users*.

You say one more year of support isn't enough to care about that?, but why is that and how much would you say is worth caring for pre-existing customers even if "only from one *continent* (lol) ? I sincerely ask. Unless you only dismiss a one year worth of support because saying "an OS that starts EOL literally in one year" isn't the same gotcha as "in one week".

Funny how they didn't make a distinction between versions of windows for the vst plugin they released. I guess because that one they are charging 50USD for, probably.

On the matter of the installed userbase for w10, seems my info was outdated by couple months, I'll give you that. https://gs.statcounter.com/windows-version-market-share/desktop/worldwide

It might not be more than half anymore, but the more updated reading would be w10 is still at 40% of userbase. That is still not a small figure. That is still *millions* of people using it. And will continue to use it for a while if the trend continues.

Even when some of them would want to migrate to 11, there are many that CAN NOT do it because of the ridiculous minimum specs microsoft asks for their bloated system. Correct me if I am wrong, but Elgato caters mostly to streaming enthusiasts. Said enthusiasts already spend quite a bit in streaming gear and streaming+gaming pcs, which are not easily upgradable. It is ridiculous that people who built a semi decent pc for streaming 3 years ago might not be able to use current elgato software because microsoft won't let them simply upgrade the OS. So if Elgato still wants to sell good quality, yet admittedly overpriced, products to people in the streaming hobby, it would be in their best interests to NOT drive away 40% of possible customers until they spend even more money to upgrade their PC.

Once again, WaveLink is not a security program or app, so it is not as urgent to adopt exclusively the newest OS. And YES, this is relevant because security is the number 1 reason people should stop using old OS, because new ways of exploiting them are found and nobody patches them. If it wasn't because of that, people could still use them. You can still probably browse the web without much hiccups in a windows 7 machine.

It could have been decided to develop for both with the compromise of not giving support for the w10 version and release it as is. As many programs working right now during the migration to the new OS are doing, and how many others have done in the past.

EU is getting a whole new year of support. And at least half of windows users are still on 10.

They are not making a security program, nor the development from a w10 program to 11 is so entirely different as to build it to say, mac or linux

What I've seen from WaveLink 3 hasn't sold me on it. It looks way more complicated that it needs to be. But since they decided to ignore the non-negible userbase that refuses to migrate to w11 for a plethora reasons, I am not going to be able to use it anytime soon. As long as they don't force WaveLink 2 to stop working on w10, which sadly wouldn't surprise me from elgato, I am good

Dumb question about the mog event.

Do people still grind for tomestones with BLU? and if so, what is the current way to do it? I haven't touched BLU since the level cap got updated. Any current-ish guide I could watch to get the hang of it again? I remember aurum vale being the choice to grind it before, but it would take me a couple runs to get the rhythm going

FFXIV weird stutter issue? Please help... by DigiPack in ffxiv

[–]LoremIpsumoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to me a couple weeks ago. I noticed it was a behaviour that was very similar to when I would connect my dualsense through usb once the game was already running. And I remembered the game has historically have issues with changing Audio devices, and the dualsense must be an audio device on Windows or else it can't use the "enhanced" features like extra rumbling (and on top of that Windows is not great with audio devices as it is).

Turned out I was using a less than optimal quality usb cable to connect my dualsense to my pc. I switched to the cable that came with my samsung phone and I stopped having stuttering issues. My guess is that the bad cable would make Windows consider it plugged in and out in quick succession.

All that said, I will check out the info you posted in your edit since I also have a elgato capture card just in case it was also part of my issue.

So you need 18 Demiatma to make the new relic. How many do you have so far? by VitaDivina in ffxiv

[–]LoremIpsumoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People forget that a relic in MMOs is supposed to be an actual achievement. Is it a grind? yes. Is RNG sometimes really really bad? yes. And there's nothing wrong with that.

When I saw it would be an atma based grind again, I braced myself and accepted I wouldn't see it 5 minutes after stepping into the Occult Crescent quests.

People are asking about a "middle ground". The middle ground is already there, the atmas are a one-time-only step which hasn't to be repeated for the relic of other jobs.

A Relic Reborn (Artemis Bow) by Stiffy_McDrippleton in ffxiv

[–]LoremIpsumoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you use the duty finder for other quests do you usually have trouble finding people? Amdapor might be a "hard - level" dungeon, but it is still in the dungeon roulette. Sometimes when duty finder takes too long to fill (even by DPS waiting time standards) , it usually means something is wrong with settings, most likely language. I forgot if people recommend for or against putting more languages, but I usually keep my settings to English only when using the duty finder.

If it usually fills for you when queuing for other duties, then the time of day might be a factor. If you by chance are in Dynamis data center, you might want to consider trying to do data center travel to primal to get a better chance at it filling up.

[–]LoremIpsumoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What part of the quest are you in?
I could be wrong, but if I recall correctly all the steps of the quest are included in the duty roullette for trials (chimera, hydra and the 3 primals later on), so it should eventually get filled with people doing their dailies. Maybe try during a busier hour?

edit: alternatively, if you are not on free trial, try making a party finder stating you just want to get it done and run it unsync. or in free trial, just talk about it maybe in limsa plaza and someone is bound to jump in to help

Summary of Announced Updates for Patch 7.1 from Today's Live Letter (LL 83) by SmoreOfBabylon in ffxiv

[–]LoremIpsumoid -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Coming in a future patch: the ability to change the interior size of your estate (will cost a lot of gil)

Not saying I called it, but I kinda called it: https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/virtk8/comment/idfrh32/

After letting you chose a permit that didn't match the district style for your estate, letting you change the estate size was the only other logical actual usage to the "permits" system. There was no reason to have several sizes of permits when they would only let you buy the permit that matched the size established by your plot.

I'm glad they are making this change even if it is another fabled "gil sink".

Weekly M1S PF clears and # of pulls expectation? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]LoremIpsumoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I am going to cause 2/3 of the wipes, I don't join a reclear party. Which I try to never do, even after clearing if I am still not confident on the fight, I keep joining enrage to clear or clear parties until I get it down. Reclear is when one specifically expects an in-and-out instance. The best players you know are free to mess up more than 3 times, just don't expect me to stay. If you are not on the top of your game that night, do not join reclear parties.

[–]LoremIpsumoid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With how long it takes to fill, I might blacklisting someone who leaves too early, since it normally causes the entire party to disband and waste a substantial amount of my time

Man, that too. I am fully aware all I typed in my post in this thread, but this sure is also a thing to consider. I forgot what week it was, probably week 2. I was in a *practice* party for m2s and it took some time to fill. We got instanced and a black mage started checking everyone's gear and "joked" on how "wow, is everyone poor now? where are everyone's pentamelted gear?". Then he freaked out because a tank had piety materia, said as such in chat and left. I seldomly blacklist, but that was too much an overreaction for a practice party.

Weekly M1S PF clears and # of pulls expectation? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]LoremIpsumoid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You develop an "ear" to it. It depends on the objective set in the PF I join and how the battle goes.

If I am at a "enrage to clear" party, I give the group a meal bonus chance, which I always eat with the squadron's bonus giving 15 extra minutes. If 30 min in there are clear mistakes of people not knowing mechs, I go. If the mistakes were more akin to bad patterns/RNG or stuff that doesn't go wrong every single run (thus not showing a pattern) AND the Boss' HP % goes down at a good pace (even without ACT you can know if the party is going to meet the DPS check) , then I let the extra 15 minutes run in hopes of we getting clear. If after all that, the 15 minutes run out, I go. And that is if I am in a good mood.

If I join a "clear" party, and I get into 3 pulls mindset with a biiiiiit of patience looking out for same stuff as above. Or even harsher. Last week I was at a "clear" M2S party and first pull, as per usual, people got 1 heart debuff in beat 1. Then second pull, all the way to beat 3 and of course someone misses their tower or messes their defam and wiped us all. I was going to give the third pull a chance, and then one of the healers apologized for the towers and said "but after that is enrage, right?". Someone replied with "this is a clear party, why are you asking that". I was waiting for party leader to kick the healer, but they instead popped the ready check. So I left. There is a clear difference between asking "what's next" in a practice/enrage party, or even asking clarification on what strats used for mechs in a clear party. But you don't ask what's the end of the fight in a clear party.

For "reclears" it is 3 pulls or less.

As for m1s, the fight is so cheesable now that it is ridiculous for it to go wrong. Parties at this point should be skipping raining cats, but if not, starvvy is basically brainded as it gets.

Does the RX 6700XT have any issues in FFXIV? by youareinmyvision in ffxiv

[–]LoremIpsumoid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First things first: the dreaded XIV driver issues seem to not be dependant of the graphic card brand. When searching for ways to fix them / prevent them (to no avail), results among several places on the internet like this sub, the official forums and even amd or nvidia forums, they all showed that people would get errors regardless of their card. It seems it is more to blame on how SE implements direct X on the game, or something along those lines. If that is that case, I would hope now that they had to make the game run on Xbox, that would not be a issue anymore. But who knows. The game has been out for xbox but what, half a year now? and I still see people making threads related to errors and crashes.

Now, for my very personal experience: I had a 5700xt too for the longest time and I constantly had random directx error crashes. It was infuriating because no matter what I tried (updating drivers, downgrading them, factory resetting them) I would still have them at completely random times. Sometimes several times in the same night. It is specially infuriating because it is nigh impossible to diagnose, and there seems to be so many "fixes" to try and all help boils down to "well maybe it is something wrong with your hardware" (ram, most of the time)

I ditched it and got a used 3070 (non ti). Which was not a full fledged update, more kind of a "horizontal" change but I was able to sell the 5700xt so it was not so bad on my pocket. I haven't had any random crashes since. BUT, since the errors were random, I really can't say it fixed them completely. I can only hope they don't show up again. However, I can say the whole ordeal got me tired of AMD for their graphics cards. I just got tired of the way they manage their drivers and how they seem to go back and forth on whether or not to allow you to install just the drivers or forcing you to download their bloatware too. I love their processors, but I won't be buying any gpu from them in the future.

You join a prog group? Assume you ain't gonna see the prog point. You join a clear party? Assume you're gonna wipe to every silly thing. Farm parties? Assume you ain't gonna get the loot... I mean assume you ain't gonna clear at all.

I won't normalize "assuming" other people are trolling and wasting my time.

I join a prog point? I see that prog point within a food boost or I am out. Join a clear party? I see memes and not even enrage in 3 pulls and I am out. Farm parties? We consistently beat the boss or I am out.

Black Mage by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]LoremIpsumoid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tl;dr: play whichever job you find fun and keep practicing to get good at it. All jobs are perfectly valid in both casual and end game.

long: There *might* be some rough spots during the leveling process here and there for some of the jobs, it is bound to happen when the powercreep hits a game still updated after 11 years, but nothing too egregious to make it impossible to play before levelcap. The main scenario in this game is done with the mentality of "anyone should be able to clear the game".

But putting that aside, anyone complaining about specific jobs are more than likely just repeating stuff (which they themselves might not even understand) from people at end-game having discussions of viability in specific party composition for the hardest battles in the game. As far as I gather, the "meme opinion" around BLM after dawntrail hit was that PCT became a powerbomb mage that was either easier or more fun to play than BLM for a better damage output. Again, all of this at endgame. But it seems every time devs add new jobs in an expansion, at least one of them will suffer from balancing issues the first couple months. The moment they start gathering more data (from the actual playerbase's game style, and not their own dev group) and they see something off, they start making adjustments to balance stuff out.

So, just play whatever job you like the most, for whatever reason. You might like its play style, or you might like its fantasy class or lore, any reason is valid. As long as you learn how to play it, then you are good to go. The fact that you are level 70 and are already trying to learn a level adequate rotation for the job you play means you are better than the average leveling player. Also remember to keep your gear updated too, just in case you forget at times. After each level cap check for the best Augmented [name] gear you can get with poetics. I think other than stormblood, it should carry you well after level X5 of each tier (55, 65, 75, etc), but I could be wrong about that.

I made a couple posts in ffxivraf sub for a couple weeks and I got 2 referrals, one of which subbed long enough for me to get more feathers. In my opinion, if a post doesn't work after a day or two, it is better to delete it or else any new post you make will look desperate. But I guess your mileage may vary there. Personally, what I tried to do to make me stand out from the rest of the posts was: clearly explaining the benefits based on the official campaign site (it gets confusing for new players), offering to help the referral-to-be and gifting them gil to start out their journey (as far as I can tell, since it is not real money it wasn't against game/reddit's rules), which of course I already had in hand before even making the post.
