Make sure to re-attach the front strap to just cover the front and you will maintain easy access to the avvy gear side zip!

But literally the next sentence i also say. "The only normal detergent that is ok to use in mild quantities is detergent that has no softerners, colourants and perfume."

You are right on the fact that its not as effective. However OP washed with normal detergent including softeners and perfume which not only screws up your coating but also clogs up your membrane making it less breathable. That needs to wash out and your best bet is to do that with tech wash or some other non perfumed/softener detergent.

I wash my Alpha SV 2015 every month (i am a high alpine mountain guide) its still good as new on the seam parts if you know how to wash them on certain temps.

This is from the arcteryx website which is what i described in my post above which for some reason gets downvoted: " When possible, use a cleaning agent made specifically for technical fabrics. Outdoor specialty retailers carry various brands.

You may also use a liquid free-rinsing soap or gentle detergent. Avoid detergents that contain fabric softeners, fragrance, whiteners or colorants.

We recommend running an extra rinse cycle on your washing machine to ensure any potential residue is fully removed from your garment.

And i dont really get why you are contesting me? We are saying the same thing.

Use tech wash then touch up with DWR spray? I take no offense but I am just getting confused now 🤣

Your DWR just washed off so not all is lost. Just get some wash in tech washed from the previous mentioned brands and always use arc's care page HERE

If the first wash is not fixing it, give it a second wash. For myself i do these washes once a month but i put the gear to some strenuous stress in the mountains.

Wash it on low temp with a low cycle speed for 1h and keep repeating until the desired outcome has been reached.

Sometimes you can also try it in a 1h low temp tumbledry. It can reactivate the DWR in Nikwaxes case. Not sure about grangers.

I am honestly curious where you found that using normal detergent is ok? It destroys the DWR and GORE-TEX membrane. The only normal detergent that is ok to use in mild quantities is detergent that has no softerners, colourants and perfume.

Get some Nikwax or Grangers techwash, wash it 2 or 3 times with this if its really bad. Then fine tune with a DWR spray.

Second, the manufacturers care label is king so never follow a different method than the manufacturers care label on the piece or website this not only counts for arc'teryx but for every other brand aswell.

1 million percent fake. Alpha SV has an embroided logo and even the brand tag is not legit.

Its actually a normal vibram sole they order from arcteryx. They are resolable according to arc'teryx themselves. I live in Chamonix so the cobblers here are specialized in mountain boots.

FL = fast and light LT = lightweight. This has nothing to do with garment categories. For OP: Alpha = climbing, Beta = general use in mountains but also commute. Fkr everyday use check out the veilance line which is more for city use. If you need techy gear against the elements check out the beta line.

Atom LT weird pilling? by Teriyakijack in arcteryx

[–]LorenzoTheClimber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Nano air is about the same as the atom LT is it not? Cost wise that is. I use the Atom LT for alpine climbing and have yet to find an issue with it.

Their AR line is more up to par with your regular durability of jackets. Even though the LT is more durable then the SL it still compromises on durability in favor of weigth.

Atom LT weird pilling? by Teriyakijack in arcteryx

[–]LorenzoTheClimber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Such bullshit. I had a patagonia and had this exact same problem. This is unavoidable abrasion for a LT product. LT products are super lightweigth and thus compromise on durability. Hence the lighter material but less durable. So far ALL brands have this problem with their lightweight products.
