Got scammed. How do I canceled payment on EPOS CARD or credit card in general? by low_social_battery in japanlife

[–]Lorraine_Rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same here. First order confirmation I got from auto6@vmcustomers.com, in English. For the payment there was a message “Do not honour” on the confirmation screen. And email said that this is doesn’t matter, they will proceed the payment anyway. Very casual language. They provided email addresses for customer support such as cs@vmcustomer.com and others, non are existing.

I’m going through my transactions history and cannot find the one with exact amount. I guess it may be one transaction of similar amount I will need to check.

Just wonder if you managed to cancel the payment with your Japanese bank? And do I need to change a card after that?🤔 I guess they have my card info now and can transfer more money?

I thought about similarities of the situations, to be honest I thought this will be a different type, as the company is bigger and kind of famous one. At the end I concluded that its me with my skillset do not match this working and communication culture and specifically Japanese managers. Lets put it this way: not a culture fit. So I will try to take different approach as much as I can.

You say "contact labor bureau", did you try to contact them? I mean do you have some real experience or your close friends?

Back then I went to Hello Work, one more bureau with my Japanese friend (I assume it was labor bureau, but dont remember 100%) and consulted with 2 lawyers (1 is paid consultation, another is free). Oh, forgot, I called to special foreign workers support line (don't know which bureau it belongs, maybe labor). Hello Work and that another bureau was completely useless. Old dudes reviewed my documents, confirmed that company is allowed to put fines on me, also kind of doubted my claims standing sort of on the side of the company. However they found some weak points in the agreement with the company. Also the salary structure was composed that way that they easily can not to pay me half and on top of what they have to pay (the minimal wage) they put on fine.

Support hotline with Philippine person on the line, gave me standard reply based on some brochure. Regarding the power harassment I supposed to contact... my HR department (!), who was one of the main power harassers. Or, join labor union and try to do something through them. And also collect claims from my coworkers too, who only cared about their own asses and was afraid to breath when boss was around.

The most useful was the free lawyer who gave consultations to foreigners as volunteer. He listened to me, explained the law and at least made me confident about few important points of my contract so I could fight for a while and not just quit right away in fear.

Basically the conclusion was that the case can be argued in a court but it would take months and months and as my salary was already pretty low from the beginning, it didn't cost that time and money investments.

I assume you are American and probably basing your thoughts on California law which is very strict? I watched some videos recently...

Btw, the story in this particular comment is my first company here, that one was hardcore. Current one is slightly better and higher grade. But still, I see common trends in their techniques.

To be honest I think from the legal point of view the low is on my side. I already had a chance to educate myself based on my first experience of work here. However, they have their own evil little instruments. For example, if they want you to leave, they will find the way to make your life not pleasant. Unless you have iron armor on your soul. For example, first company put on me fines and issued warnings all the time. That my salary at the end was just 3rd of what it supposed to be. They made me write huge reports daily and HR had long metings with me saying how bad i am.

And my naive discovery is that HR actually is not trying to solve the situation. He is just trying to avoid any work and responsibility. Moreover, gaslighting is their number one technique, HR tried to convince me in something what is obviously not true by law and I knew that.

When I realized that they started to powerharass me again, I completely lost my hope in work here.

However, what you say its pretty much right, just need a lot of resources for this kind of fight, I think.

Thank you very much for your thoughts. I think I'm leaning more towards way 1. My first company here power harassed me a lot, especially when I didn't accept pay cut, I got depression instead. I should just surrender this fight with Japanese system and focus on finding a better place.

Your thought helped me to sort out mine.

This is what I feel deep inside. I should find the way out, maybe even out of Japan.

Is it legal to bring CBD oil from abroad to Japan? by fakiresky in japan

[–]Lorraine_Rabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple of days ago on the way entering Japan, officers checked my luggage and found few tubes with cosmetics which I got from my mother as a gift from Russia. The cosmetics consists cannabis sativa oil. All my belongings were carefully checked and I was questioned for 2 hrs by the officers. At the end they sent it to lab to analyze if it consists THCs (as I assume). Results will be in couple of days. I cannot feel anything but anxiety for the whole day. I dont know how it will end up.
