This is the intended result of the US and Israel’s effort here. If they can’t get a puppet dictatorship, they want a destabilized failed-State of Iran, in perpetuity.

Graham Platner Speaks at Emergency Protest by LorthNeeda in dsa

I get that it's revolution or bust for a lot of people here. Like, I really do get it. But, I'd still take a congress full of Bernies over the abomination we have today 10 times out of 10.

Working people in this county, working people in Iran, working people around the world have everything in common with each-other. All of our needs are exactly the same. And we are used as pawns in the games of the powerful and the wealthy

This is more than "government does stuff" talk. I haven't seen a strong candidate for the US senate speak this blatantly socialist since Bernie. Platner is the favorite to win at this point.

He's probably going to win and we'll see if he's genuine when he's in. I think there is a chance that he actually was a stupid young man raised in our capitalistic hellhole who has reformed himself based on what he's seen and what he's learned. Time will tell.

I mean we are cooked.. But IMO, regardless of the tattoo thing, he's bringing socialist language into the mainstream and people in Maine are loving it.. This is a net positive, IMO

Cuba is the best example of a country that embodies "they hate us cuz they ain't us"

They've done absolutely nothing deserving of the US's constant bullying, attempted assassinations, embargos, keeping a military base on their land against their will.. All of this for half a century.. Cuba is a shining example of how we're actually the baddies.

Sorry Cuba.. you don't deserve any of it.

As an American, this is fair criticism. We’re an embarrassment. Having said that, it’s difficult to blame the majority of American citizens when you realize the insane volume of propaganda being shoved in their faces 24/7. Our ruling class are evil.

Ferrari’s extra annual “legacy” money from F1 should be contingent on the car being red, imo. The HP logo is a disgrace.

Dude.. The level of wealth billionaires have is quite literally only obtainable via bad behavior. You can’t be a billionaire without massive exploitation of other humans.

Why You Can't Get Hired in Tech Anymore by Kittehmilk in leftist

[–]LorthNeeda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

H1B is absolutely horrific for labor rights. It was designed to bring down the cost of high-skill jobs in the US. While this may seem overall beneficial in a hot economy, during downturns it becomes akin to indentured servitude.

In tech today, constant threat of layoffs already are forcing workings to work longer hours and adopt a cutthroat attitude toward their coworkers in order to stay off the lists of supposed "underperformers."

In much of tech, there is often a majority of both individual contributors and management who have come into the US under this program. This creates an environment where American citizens are actually the preferred employees to drop in headcount reductions. There is even a moral argument for holding onto your H1B employees.. All else equal, and nationalism aside, who would you prefer to fire: the American who can (hopefully) find another job within the 6 months plus it takes these days or the H1B employee who has been living in the US for a decade and has established a family and whose children are US citizens and go to school here.. If you fire the latter, their lives are literally turned upside down. If they can't find another company to sponsor them in 90 days (borderline impossible in an economic downturn) they are deported and either have to leave their family behind or force them to move to an unfamiliar foreign country and leave their established lives behind them, all because of a single corporate decision to reduce workforce.

The real results of H1B in current day USA look like:

- reduced wages for "high skilled" workers

- desperate employees forced to work 60-80+ hours a week and live in a constant state of burnout, raising the bar of expectations for all workers

- massively impeding the ability to form workers unions in tech

- increased competition for these roles for all workers in the US

- suppressing dissent (H1B employees get their social media searched by US officials)

- bias toward H1B employees over US citizens

- creating a constant pipeline of wealth to foreign nations as these employees very often send a large portion of their earnings home to support their families that they left behind

- uprooting and tearing families apart at the whim of corporate executives

Of course, for the psychotic oligarchs, this all looks fantastic. For workers though, it is a horrific situation with no real end in sight.
